Why does the Dev Mode inspect panel look and function different depending on on a user’s access type (view / Dev Mode only vs edit access)? What my devs see in Dev Mode (without edit access): What I see in Dev Mode (with edit access): As you can see, these look different for some reason. The most troubling for me is that the code syntax added to variables don’t show when the user doesn’t have edit access (which is all of our devs, they don’t need edit access) and so they get no benefit from that code syntax. As far as I can tell, everywhere that Dev Mode is documented in help.figma.com shows the panel as if the user has edit access and doesn’t show or touch on how it differs if the user does not have edit access. Is this intentional? If so, why and why is it not documented?

A while ago I got a prompt that the outline stroke shortcut was now going to show outlines in one of the Figma updates. The dialog asked if I wanted to have it show outlines (new way) or keep it as outlining stroke (old way). I was clicking too fast and chose the new way, and now regret my choice. Is there any way to make Cmd+Shift+O outline strokes instead of showing outlines again?

Has Figma changed its download permissions to restrict viewers? Apparently, only editors in our Figma team have been able to download designs, which has restricted access for viewers. This update has complicated the management and sharing of designs, especially with developers. We are on a pro team plan which includes dev mode, yet developers still can’t download UI assets. If anyone else has experienced this issue and found a solution or workaround, could you please share your insights?

How can I activate it through Figma again?

Hello! I accidentally deleted the whole project with 39 files, and the most filies I am not the owner. The whole team don’t have the access go the project at all. In my drafts i have only a few files i created by myself. Is there any way i can recover the whole project form cloud, or any other ways? Thank you

In the local variables view, I would like the ability to select a bunch of variables and batch scope them, instead of doing them one by one, this would be a big time save, thanks

As described on the title. The pixel numbers going down the Y ruler don’t align with the pixels on the artboard as shown in the image. This is causing all sorts of issues. What is going on?

size of PDF exported is large(1.2Mb) for simple text frame. When i tried to edit in the acrobat, bounding boxes around elements are appearing as straight lines. I feel this has something to do with large sizes being exported

Description I have a Primitives collection where I store raw colors. Two modes exist, Dark and Light. As the name implies, it only stores the color scale and associated color value (see first screenshot). Then I have a Tokens collection where I store colors according to their intent. Again, two modes exist, Dark and Light. Each intent references a color from the Primitives collection, ideally matching the appropritate mode (see next screenshot). Problem I have not found a way to create a primitive-to-token variable reference in the secondary mode. The Light mode primitives just don’t appear on the library selection menu (see next screenshot). I think this is a common enought pattern. Am I missing something or is this functionality not implemented?

I got a table with lines and the top head of the table I set to Sticky Top But when scroll the table, instead of go behind the top head it goes on front And as well it is in autolayout, if I move the layer to top, it goes to the bottom of my table I know I also could do a hack, create a separated component for the top of the table, but each time that I need to change a column in the table data I would have to match that in the top head in a separated component Don’t know if it already have this or we should request feature

Hello, I’m grappling with animations in Figma and trying to figure out how to manage Auto Layout. My issue is that when I animate elements that change size, I can’t seem to maintain the control I desire. Is there a correct method for animating with Auto Layout without deactivating it? I like to create a prototype that is responsive and easily modifiable, and it’s crucial for me to keep Auto Layout active. I would appreciate any advice or solution you can offer! I have a dropdown instance. In its open state I changed the text. But when I tried the prototype preview mode the text and the component keeps changing to the default text from the main component. Can you guys help me? Go to file

I’ve created a dropdown component that uses text properties for the list member labels, so that when I create an instance I can update the property to whatever text I want displayed for that instance. The drop down component is the parent of a list component, which is in turn the parent of multiple list option components. The problem I am having is that when I create an instance of the component from the Assets view on one of my designs, and I update the text properties to the values I want displayed in the dropdown, those values do not show in the preview. When the dropdown is expanded it shows the default labels stored in the text properties of the parent component and not the instance I created. Any guidance is appreciated.

So I’ve made some components with multiple items and when I try and size the component up or down, all the elements don’t scale with the frame of the component. In the video: Example on the left - I’m using auto-layout but haven’t dialed it in (just to test) Example on the right - no auto-layout (some elements scale and some don’t?)

As a designer, I can set a maximum width for an input and apply a rule to truncate the text inside if it exceeds this width. However, I’m not sure where to view this in developer mode. Does Figma have this capability?

Hi, I’m new to Figma and I recently added the Default Export plugin, and I must say the plugins are very confusing so far using the prompt menu. I don’t understand it at all. Anyways… I installed this plugin to change my default export settings to 2x and JPG every single time. However, this plugin didn’t change the default, it just stacked as multiple exports. Now instead of speeding up my workflow, it’s worse, because I have to press the minus on every export, otherwise it exports both stacked presets and each file I export is in a zipped folder that I have to extract every time. Is there a way to reset all of these export options to not be stacked with multiple export options anymore?

I am creating a game in a prototype. A player accesses the game/prototype through the sharing link. Playing the game changes variables. When a player exits the game/prototype (by closing the browser, for instance) and wants to restart (click the link, reopen Figma) the game, the data/variables will be reset, he cannot return to his game. How can I remedy this?

I have a (pretty basic, needs revisions, ignore that) logo that is made of two rounded triangles that merge together with the Darken blend mode in the middle. I want to be able to get the middle part to be a separate shape so that I can mess with it’s color without changing the other two. I have tried tracing the shapes. I am very bad at tracing the shapes. I am wondering if there’s an easier way where Figma will “flatten” the individual shapes so that I can move them around separate from each other. Sorry if my question doesn’t make any sense! I’m bad at this. I know that I should be using Illustrator. Sorry, but Figma’s all I got, so help me if you can. i don’t know how to put it in words but i would like to duplicate my main component many times and just replace the fill just like the text. But the fill just don’t replace the one in the main component while hovering. just like here (i can’t upload here because i’m a new user to the forum) Video
