For some reason whenever I’m viewing my prototype, I’m seeing a white background over some parts of my designs. Not sure what’s the reason, but it’s consistent whether I’m viewing it on my desktop app or web app. I included an image of how it looks within the prototype view vs how it looks in the actual design.
Hi, I’m new to Figma. I’m searching for at least an hour by now, but there doesn’t seem to be any documentation for this simple problem: How and where can I remove or at least manage / change my document colors? I have some default colors in there, but I’m really struggeling to find any settings or library for them. And where is the difference compared to local colors?
Hi, I’m building a big library and have a popular problem with icon color override which is not supported. I’m have read a lot of topics and following them, unfortunately, it doesn’t work all the time in my case. I created a button variant: a button with icons. Then I’m creating an instance and I’m replacing the icon symbol. The color keeps override. Hurra! I’m changing the state to disabled. The color keeps disabled override, hurra! But when I’m changing the variant state ONCE AGAIN it keeps the second override. Video: My build: Structure (All icons are shapes, all names are the same) 😭 Problem: I will be happy for any advice. Hi, i try to add icons to an instance, but icons flip every time and i have no idea what cause this problem!
Is it possible to get the visible color (same as the color picker would return) at any point of the document? No matter if it is a pixel of an image or a shape.

How to restore the file I deleted from Library? I created a Library and moved a file to the library, then I deleted the library. However, forgot to save a local Fig. file, so there’s no local file that can be restored, and I didn’t find any figma file on the deleted panel. Please help, I lost 2 days of works…
The figma top bar and side panels are very big and left too small area for the actual content. Anyone knows how can I reduce their sizes? Thanks 🙂
Maybe it’s because I’m new to Figma and I’m not doing this right, but after hours of trial and error, and searching everywhere I give up. I need to hover over an item that consists of a few things grouped together, a picture, two text blocks and a background for them, plus an additional text block by itself above the picture. I converted the group into a component, and then added a variant. I scaled up that variant using the Scale tool. Then I added a “While hovering” interaction to the first variant to change to the second variant, and I set Smart Animate to “Quick”. The problem is, when I test this in the presentation mode, the scaling up always has the top left as the anchor, so it scales up downwards and to the right. I need that to be upwards and centered. But I haven’t found a way to do that, only somebody else with the same problem. I tried moving the variants around inside the component so the initial one is at the bottom center and the second one above it, also centered, but
I built an app prototype for a client and suddenly the buttons have disappeared for him in preview mode. He’s on a Galaxy S23. They’re showing up fine for me on my iPhone. Funny thing is that initially, they were visible to him. This only happened after a few days.
I’ve been trying to open locally saved Figma files through the desktop app and it just doesn’t do anything other than open the last Figma file that I had open. I’ve tried with Figma already open, double clicking on the file with Figma closed. I’ve tried with numerous files that are working fine in the cloud by saving them locally and then trying to open them. Nothing. No errors, no warnings. Just NOTHING.
Is there a way to save local copies as .figs from file browser without having to go into each one individually? Thanks!
Hi guys, I tried a few times today to save a local copy of my file as backup but always end up on the “out of memory” . I tried from the desktop app, online and from another computer but got the same results over and over… is it a bug from Figma as it worked perfectly before or do I miss something here> cheers, JC
I’d like my plugin to be interacted with primarily via the keyboard. The primary flow would be CMD+/, select plugin, down arrow to action in the plugin, return to run the action on the selected frame. To do this, I need to set the user’s focus to the plugin window. Is that possible?
Hi! As of lately I run into memory usage issue when trying to update branches from main. The resource usage overlay shows a number around 0.3 G, which is well below the 60% of 2.0 G threshold, so working with the file didn’t trigger any memory warnings so far. But when working in a branch and trying to update from main, I recently started to run into warnings while going through the “resolve conflicts” dialog. It starts with the yellow warning banner, with every resolved conflict the shown memory usage % increases, the banner becomes red and ultimately I get to see the “File out of memory” message and can’t continue. I wonder if this is just a temporary limitation/bug of the beta or if it would be advisable for the future to keep files well below the 0.3 G to use the branching feature. With quick actions it is no longer possible to open the version history of the file, are there any reason?
I’m working on a public plugin that will send an email to an user with the prototype URL of the selected page without the need for the user to copy the url from the share button. After searching this forum I’m left with the impression that only private plugins have access to the fileKey that is needed to create the URL. Is this true? Or can I generate the prototype URL with another approach?

When I release changes to the design system library file, the update behaves inconsistently and I can’t reliably predict how the update will impact my team. Sometimes text will be completely cleared and reset to the default text found in the original component, while other times the text will remain intact. Sometimes a component will not update at all even though I have selected to update everything. Instead, I will see the blue sync icon and have to update that component individually, but I will have no idea if this happened across the entire file or not… and more importantly, why that happened. While other times I will update the component individually and the component actually won’t have the change and I will have reset all changes completely and redo the configuration of the nested instances. For example, I have an icon component that had a heart as the default icon. There was a request to change the default icon from the heart to a more typical placeholder shape. When I published
When I flatten a vector, the “Spread” option under drop shadow will be disabled. Is there any other way to hack or enable this option under drop-shadow?
I structure my projects the following way: 1 tokens file for the colour styles, the typography and the variable primitives 1 design system file with semantic variables and components several design files depending on the needs. When creating a new project I used to duplicate my latest DS and tokens file and relinking them using the library swap property. I’ve recently started to go in depth with variables which are a game changer in my opinion. Unfortunately, I realised today that when swapping a library, although the styles are swapped, the variables are not. Is this a bug? a feature? or am I doing something wrong?
How can I achieve an object stack with different paddings? If I select multiple groups that follow each other and make it an auto-layout, then the paddings of all spaces between are the same amount (in my file 60). But often I want different paddings for different subjects. Coming from XD this works really efficient: Where you can still have it all stacked but you can define different paddings per group in the stack: Or is there an efficient way to achieve this without the need to auto-layout it?
