I’d like my plugin to be interacted with primarily via the keyboard. The primary flow would be CMD+/, select plugin, down arrow to action in the plugin, return to run the action on the selected frame. To do this, I need to set the user’s focus to the plugin window. Is that possible?

Hi! As of lately I run into memory usage issue when trying to update branches from main. The resource usage overlay shows a number around 0.3 G, which is well below the 60% of 2.0 G threshold, so working with the file didn’t trigger any memory warnings so far. But when working in a branch and trying to update from main, I recently started to run into warnings while going through the “resolve conflicts” dialog. It starts with the yellow warning banner, with every resolved conflict the shown memory usage % increases, the banner becomes red and ultimately I get to see the “File out of memory” message and can’t continue. I wonder if this is just a temporary limitation/bug of the beta or if it would be advisable for the future to keep files well below the 0.3 G to use the branching feature. With quick actions it is no longer possible to open the version history of the file, are there any reason?

I’m working on a public plugin that will send an email to an user with the prototype URL of the selected page without the need for the user to copy the url from the share button. After searching this forum I’m left with the impression that only private plugins have access to the fileKey that is needed to create the URL. Is this true? Or can I generate the prototype URL with another approach?

When I release changes to the design system library file, the update behaves inconsistently and I can’t reliably predict how the update will impact my team. Sometimes text will be completely cleared and reset to the default text found in the original component, while other times the text will remain intact. Sometimes a component will not update at all even though I have selected to update everything. Instead, I will see the blue sync icon and have to update that component individually, but I will have no idea if this happened across the entire file or not… and more importantly, why that happened. While other times I will update the component individually and the component actually won’t have the change and I will have reset all changes completely and redo the configuration of the nested instances. How can I achieve an object stack with different paddings? If I select multiple groups that follow each other and make it an auto-layout, then the paddings of all spaces between are the same amount (in my file 60). But often I want different paddings for different subjects. Coming from XD this works really efficient: Where you can still have it all stacked but you can define different paddings per group in the stack: Or is there an efficient way to achieve this without the need to auto-layout it?

My Menu Bar is not always sticking at the top left of my webpage when prototyping, whenever i change the pages through components protoyping the menu bar doesnt stay in its place as it should. Important to mention that most of the times the prototypes work correctly first time trying but never the second or more, it also worked well before. I am new to Figma and I dont see if the problem is the component of the menu, the prototyping or my device. The problem occurs when i change pages without an order and when i go to “About” page. When using Figma plugin for code generation in dev mode, the output is usually displayed in one of the subsections Inspect panel. This output of code generation is available with one option - “Copy” Is there a way to download the codegen output ?

Hello, community! I have created a component containing different states for a menu item. I want to have a small rectangle on the left side of the item that stays visible when the page is active but most importantly to smart animate on hover over the other items in the menu. The animation is simple: the rectangle has a width of 0px when is not hovered and 10px width on hover. The problem is that whenever I hover over the item, the width of the rectangle is instantly 10px width and when I stop hovering, it is animating the width of the rectangle. I’m encountering an issue with a plugin I’m developing where every time I try to save a generated file, it prompts me with the “Save As” dialogue box. I’m wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before and found a solution to bypass this dialogue box? Since I’m still getting the hang of Figma, I’m not sure if this is a common issue or if there’s a specific workaround for it. I’ve tried searching online for solutions, but haven’t had much luck finding a clear answer. Hello! Is it possible for other people other than you / the owner of a FigJam Template file to publish the changes with the template to be available for the rest of the Org? Upon reading this Help Center article I am under the impression that it’s possible, but I tested it initially with a colleague and they couldn’t seem to see the same button to “Publish changes” or something which was something I could see on my end. I made sure to invite them to the file as well and give them can edit privileges. Even after refreshing the file, they couldn’t seem to publish, only I could (since I owned the file).

Hello! I have a problem (maybe a silly problem ;-)) regarding a variant of a component. The situation is as follows: I want to open an overlay with a press on a button. The Button is a component with three variants “Default”, “Hover” and OnClick. This variants represents the states of the button. I have designed the interaction in the way that while hovering on variant “Default” the component should change to variant “Hover” and while pressing the variant “Hover” it should change to “OnClick”. In most scenarios this works (e.g. navigating to another frame). But when I want to open an overlay, after opening the overlay the component does not change back to “Default” and remains in the state “OnClick”. What have I overseen? Is there an issue in the component / a missing interaction? A Figma document that I have been working on and was already finished a week ago with no performance problems, but when I viewed it today it had too much lag in the smart animate of a navigation bar. What do you think is the problem that causes this? It also happens in both the desktop and browser versions.

Hi 👋, i am currently prototyping a website and I want to integrate the function that the page scrolls to a specific part when I click a button. Problem is that I also want to have a hoverstate on that button. I do know how to create the functions separately (Hover and scroll to) but how can I prototype it that it works together? Is there maybe a way to do it with components and variants? I would really appreciate it if you would help me with some advice:) Thanks a lot!

Perhaps a newbie question, but I have done a lot of searching and can’t find an answer. I recently purchased UntitledUI as a design system and I am ready to use it on a new project. When I update a component by adding a variant say, or changing a colour, I would like it to update everywhere it is used in one particular project, but I don’t want to update other projects that also use that same component. I can… Create instances from my design system then detach them in my design file. This seems to defeat the purpose of having it linked to a master if I want to make a change. Update the master component in UntitledUI, but then wont my customization affect every usage of that component in multiple projects? I don’t want that. My gut tells me what I want is a ‘copy’ of the design system that is local to each project. If that is actually what you are supposed to do, how is that done? Is there a ‘make a copy’ for libraries? I have been working on a mobile UI design project for a class for a few weeks now, and I created an interactive component that simulates a swipe gesture animation. It includes 7 variants, starting on “after delay”, then plays through all of the subsequent variants after delay as well to make it seem fluid then it fades out. I created this about 2 weeks ago and when I first created this, it was working fine without issues in a test frame as well as on the main frames of my project. However, a couple days after that when I went to resume the project, I cannot get the animation to play anymore on delay. I will paste the first variant of the interactive component, and when viewing it in a test frame it just shows the first frame as a stagnant picture and it does not shuffle through the variants like it’s suppose to, and like it was previously. Nothing has changed in the project to make something like this happen, it just seems completely random. But whenever I change the first variant from
