Hi guys, I noticed that the sticky menu is not working properly. The smart animation menu at the top of the page when extended works well on the first page, but when I scroll down the menu starts to bug only when the smart animation is triggered. 😭😭 I tried some things but nothing seems to work. Figma – 30 Nov 22 If someone has time to check and suggest an idea to solve this problem I would be over the moon. Thank you 🤗
Documentation says figma.root.name is read-only. Has anyone changed the document name via the Plugin API? Any word on a feature enhancement? Thanks.
Hi, Figma started to do that thing again where every time you open a project it also opens a figma files tab in chrome… Am I the only one?
Whimsical has the ability to switch from flowchart to mindmap. It’s just much faster to organize your thoughts with a mindmap than a flowchart. Also the tiles on the flowcharts; would be great to have three of four default sizes to choose from, this way you can draw charts much faster.
Hi community, I’m playing around with modes in Figma beta, currently I have a dark mode and a light mode set up. What I would like to do is toggle between the modes using a toggle within my prototype. So that if I click the toggle, the entire frame switches modes and all components in the frame inherit the new mode styling. At the moment I have a light mode frame and a dark mode frame and I navigate from one to the other but this seems like such a clunky way in light of the new mode switcher… what am I missing?
Sorry if someone has already asked but I just couldn’t find any info on this. My question is, is it possible to add a color token to dropshadow somehow? In the local variables in Figma. Thanks
Smart Animate is a great feature for designer but how is it translated when Dev receives this? I am able to find the following code for an on/off toggle component: // On click // Change to: "State=On"; // Animate: Smart animate; animation-timing-function: cubic-bezier(0.45, 1.45, 0.8, 1); animation-duration: 300ms; // On click // Change to: "State=Off"; // Animate: Smart animate; animation-timing-function: cubic-bezier(0.45, 1.45, 0.8, 1); animation-duration: 300ms; When developer see the line “Animate: Smart animate;”, will this make sense for them when they write in code?
My team is creating a UI library that is really big, so we’ve split it into multiple libraries, starting with the basic atoms and elements and growing additional files into components using those earlier files. We’d like to release all 3 planned files to the community, but we’re unsure if each of these files will retain their dependencies on the previous files? For example, all the colors are in the first file. The user downloads the second file and links the previous file as a dependency. Will those colors still have their values or will they be converted to hex codes and no longer my editable using my styles? We have similar questions, of course, with input fields, buttons, etc. I’m not sure if anyone has done this for the community before - if they have I haven’t found an example, and we haven’t been able to find a previous topic specifically about this in the community. Any input it appreciated!
As mentioned in the title, I want to restore the component to a non-component state. At present, I cancel the association by creating an instance.
Why does all the variables from other files I bring into my new file don’t go away? I’ve made a test and deleted all pages from the file, and the variables list are still listed there. This is leading to a lot of confusion internally! Can someone tell me how to get rid of them? Detached deleted variable command doesn’t work for this.
So I was wondering if there was any possibility to implement simpler prototyping with components on a different page. Now you have to create the component in the page where you can use it. E.g. You create a bottom navigator menu and the homepage button will always link to the homepage frame. (the children will always navigate to that page). But having all your components in one page creates such a mess that I would love to be able to use the components in my components page to link all the children to the same frame in my design page.
It seems to me that this case was simply not considered during the release. Or maybe I’m doing something wrong… but what could be easier than copying and pasting… but in this case it’s impossible ;(
Hello! I’m looking for a solution for a prototype. I would like to simulate the photo selection feature that Instagram currently has when publishing a carousel. That is: select multiple images in the order I want and be able to assign a number to each one. The assigned number represents the order in which I select them. So far, I’ve managed to save the total number of selected photos in a numeric variable, but I can’t get the photos to have their own numbers. They all end up with the total number. How could I do that? Thank you very much!
When I search for a variable name, it does not select the correct one but just the first one in the list. So when I have “variable_1”, “variable_2”, and “variable_3” and type “variable_3” in the search bar and hit ENTER, it will have selected "variable_1
I created a branch from my design file to test it on user-testing.com. However, when I open the prototype link in a browser, it continuously reloads. This started this morning Nov-1. This issue is exclusive to branched files; the main file works fine.
I have a blog component which contains an image. I added a property to toggle the image between black and white. I added the effect manually in by changing the saturation to 0. I need to change the image within the component for each different blog post and I do this by pasting the image into the fill of the component. When I add the new image (in colour), the component does not change the image to black and white when I switch the variant. Is it possible to replace the image within a component and maintain both variant settings of the mother image? (Saturation 100%> saturation 0%)
Hi, i just bought a Nitro 5 and downloaded Figma app for Windows. But i have a problem, that when i open it Figma’s UI (HUD) looks like its in 800x600. I dont know why, because even with my old PC, that had similar screen resolution it was in better quality then this. Pls help me fix this.
Hello everyone! I’m working with a main parent frame that contains three child frames. Within the blue frame, there are several other frames with fields and its set as a component. My goal is for the main parent frame to automatically adjust its size whenever the components inside the blue frame expand (thus the blue frame expands, but in my case the main frame does not). Any guidance on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi, I have a component with two variants of a hand wave emoji. I’ve added interactions to these variants so that the hand looks like it’s waving. I’m using delay with a set speed of 200ms for the transition variables. When I pull this component from the assets and view it as a stand-alone element, the speed seems accurate. However, when I place this component into another component, and place that into yet another component, the speed of the animation speeds up when I play the prototype. Is there a reason why this happens and how would I fix this? Thanks!
I mistakenly moved my main project file to the “Deleted” tab and, unfortunately, emptied the “Deleted” tab during routine cleanup, resulting in the permanent deletion of the file. I am urgently seeking guidance on file recovery steps. Can there is any way out, it was my complete project.
I’ve just found out that I only have a few votes left. According to this post, it’s based on my “trust level” gleaned from my posting activity and it is unexpected for people to reach this limit. Figma Forum only allows a finite number of votes? Ask the community I just added my vote to a feature and was told that I have “two votes remaining.” What is the point of the voting feature if it’s limited? It would be one thing if we were voting on our desire for things already on Figma’s roadmap. But the point of this forum is (theoretically) for users to suggest things, and for Figma to determine which features they should add to the roadmap based on number of votes a suggestion gets from forum users. In that context, I think unlimited votes makes more sens… So that leads me to questions: What activity raises vs lowers our trust levels? I think I’m fairly active, so it doesn’t seem to just be activity in general that raises it. Is there a view in our summa
When interactive components are enabled, I try to preview my prototype and it’s just black/blank. I’ve enabled the starting frame, set a frame window size and tried in the Beta Mac OS app as well as the Normal Mac OS Figma app and Google Chrome. Unchecking the Enable Interactive Components link allows my prototype to be displayed. I’m also not doing any complex time delay interactions or anything either, just some simple color changes on hover.
I have been using Figma everyday for almost 2 years and have never been able to use “Constrain proportions” because it simply doesn’t work. Why is this in the UI? Am I missing something? EDIT: Before anyone says “use the up/down keys”, this action breaks snap-to-pixel-grid and is far too time consuming when resizing to other components.
Everytime I open the app, the app asks me to enter credentials to login. Am I doing something wrong? I already logged in once then why do I have to log in again everytime I open the app?
I’m using the desktop app, I restarted, and I still can’t see “paste to replace” anymore in the menu!!! it’s greyed out in quick actions. this is shocking, I need this feature so much. (PS I’m not dealing with a component or part of a component, highlighted object shown below)
