Suggest a Feature

It would be a great idea to add the ability to move annotations (сhanging the place). Right now, they’re fixed in place and can overlap other elements. And you cannot change it.What I mean is the ability to reposition an annotation freely while keeping the link to the target object intact.Annotations are a really useful feature—thank you! Previously, I had to create similar functionality using my own objects. Please do not move this offer to another discussion. 🙏 Can we move the Figma Annotations (in dev mode) from one Figma project to another? These are different questions.

Hi, I’m not sure if this is new since the May update, but I wonder why “empty” (all elements hidden) Auto Layout Frames keep the size of the last hidden child (and I do not mean last in the list, but the last element to have been toggled out of view by the user), making them not-0px high even with nothing in them. See here a file with a Frame with three hidden rectangle: the Frame keeps the size of the last child rectangle to have been hidden. When adding a 0-px Frame to the AL frame, and toggling this 0-px Frame off last, the container goes 0-px. In my opinion, empty AL Frames should have a height of 0. What do you think?

Background: I am a developer, and I use Figma exclusively in Dev Mode via the web interface. I don’t have (nor do I want) any edit access to the designs I’m implementing. That’s for the designers. When the Measure tool appeared (the ruler icon on the upper left toolbar), I latched onto it very quickly. It greatly improved my speed of accurately implementing a design. There are certainly other ways to measure things in Figma, but they are all transient. The best part of the new tool was that I could quickly measure many different things and have all the measurements persist so that I could then just refer to them during development. It was a simple yet well-conceived tool. Then the Measure feature suddenly and completely disappeared on April 10! (Nooooo!!!) Other developers on my team can’t see it either, but the designers and anybody with edit access can still see it. Has there been a change that means that edit access is required to enable Measure? Currently you are able to add up to nine screenshots for your published community file. I would like to upload a video to this area. Apparently you can do this for plugins, so I would like the feature for community files as well.

Stamps are a cool feature, but I’m consistently disappointed by them. Straight up, we need: The entire standard emoji library as stamps Ability to add other people’s pfp icons as stickers (you can only do your own) The ability to add custom stamps I think #1 is the most impactful and would address some of the other, similar suggestions. I don’t even want Figma to make their own version of the emojis, they can just be 1:1 with some standard library (google’s, twemoji, etc.)

I would like an option to hug content until the container it is in is too small. For instance, I am making a tab bar where the tabs are set to fill so they adjust with screen sizes. The title on each has an info icon to the right. The text has to be set to hug for the icon to stay right next to the text. However, that means if the text is long, when the tabs shrink the text extends out rather than wrapping. I would like the option to set the hugged text to wrap when it extends past the parent container without having to manually change it a each breakpoint.

I’d love to see CSS-style color adjustment filters like brightness, contrast, hue-rotate, and saturation introduced as Effects. Oftentimes, I end up endlessly tweaking different blend mode and color fill stack combinations just to hit the right saturation or contrast. This can be frustrating, especially when it could be done more precisely and in a fraction of the time with a direct way to set these values. I’ve also found blend modes to be less developer-friendly and prone to unnecessary complexity. They absolutely have their place, but for software and web design, color adjustment filters seem more practical in many cases. Blend modes feel like a legacy holdover from graphic design tools and they can be a pain to implement consistently with devs.

When collaborating remotely in Figma, it would be extremely helpful to have a built-in chat feature. This would allow us to communicate directly within the design workspace, rather than 1) adding temporary text fields or 2) switching to Slack, Teams, or another external channel. So far, we’ve mostly been using the first method, which is far from ideal.

Hello! I am part of a team working on a gigantic Ui-Library serving multiple brands and devices (thank you, variables) all within big master-components with a lot variants. And of course our file got very full and complex very fast. We try our best to keep it clustered and everything visualized nicely, but as a user of the library, its just awful to browse. (Zooming out > panning > zooming in > switching pages > landing somewhere close up bc I visited earlier..) ugh. My feature request is to give us a new way for handing of library components! No, the lib view/selection dialog in the other files is just working If one exactly knows what to look out for.. → I am more thinking of something like the Material Design website. A place where components are organized wiki-like, have a lot of descriptive things going on (do’s, donts’, motion..) and are sometimes interactable. I am a web designer and there is no plan that covers all my needs except for the complete one with 7 programs, of which I would only use 3. You should create customizable plans that allow users to choose which modules to subscribe to. I don't see why I should spend 16 euro a month on 7 modules and only use 3. Thank you.

When creating hand-off documents I like to showcase user flows by using arrows between different UI elements. I have to use plugins to create these arrows at the moment. When playing with Figjam I notice it had a connector option - this is great. I would love it if we could also have this connector option inside Figma as it would be a HUGE timesaver for hand-off. I would like to think this would be a super easy update given that we can already edit connectors inside Figma. We just need a connector button in the toolbar like so:

When the Figma Make is doing its code rebuild following a prompt I make, would be great to have a tab notification at the top to indicate it's completed. The reason being that I may have gone to do something in another Figma tab whilst waiting for MAKE to finish it's code changes.

ngl, the new ui3 is pretty good. the only thing i dont like is the toolbar position. im still not used to it. maybe add an option to move it to the top?

In my web browser (both Chrome and Edge) I can easily/quickly switch between tabs thanks to the keyboard shorcut option + command + left/right arrow. This is an “interactin pattern” they also use in e.g. Figma. (The exact same key combination.) Personally I would really appreciate to have this keyboard shortcut in Miro too, so that I can more easily / faster switch beteen the different Miro boards that I have open.

I’d like to be able to choose a thumbnail (either a frame from the video, or upload a thumbnail) for an object that has Video fill. Currently Figma uses the first frame of the video as the thumbnail, and if that video starts all black, then the thumbnail is just black. It will show fine in prototype view or mirror once the video starts playing, but when you are editing it would be helpful to see a frame of the actual video so you can adjust properties of elements (e.g. colors, opacities, gradients) and see what they’ll look like composited with video.

Hey there! I was also wondering if it is somehow possible to include also the layer of variant controls to be exposed or hid! I often have cases where I need to nest base components e.g. an icon wrapper providing me with the ability to select certain sizes, or color overrides and boolean props of an icon. I am now able to expose all of those or none, but I can’t restrict the users to only be able to select just some of those. What do you think about it?

I’m working on swapping the library for a large design file. The process uses so much memory that I can’t swap all components at once. I have to manually pick which components to swap. However, when I open the swap library modal, every component is already selected by default. This means I have to uncheck everything before I can select only the components I want. So how about: Select all option for swap library Optimize swapping library so that it won’t crash in the middle of the process. I don’t mind waiting for 30 minutes. Thanks.

Adobe Illustrator has this very nice feature where you can tell Illustrator that you want to focus on editing a specific group of objects. Once you are in ‘isolation mode,’ other objects in the canvas are dimmed, and you will only be able to select and modify objects at that level and below. For example, when you were in isolation mode, you could drag the selection marque over a set of objects and you wouldn’t accidentally select objects from other groups (e.g. using Command + drag in Figma will select items in other groups). This is SO convenient, and it’s the biggest thing I miss from switching to Figma. I would love to see a feature implemented in Figma that copies this Illustrator functionality — it is easily my number one feature request. I’d love to see Figma Make include the ability to download essential build configuration files—such as package.json, tsconfig.json, vite.config.js, and others—when exporting code. This feature would greatly simplify the process of running projects locally by providing the full environment setup required for development. It would enable users to clone or open the exported code directly in their preferred local editor and begin testing or customizing right away, without needing to recreate the project setup from scratch. This would especially benefit developers who want to iterate quickly on prototypes or integrate Figma-generated code into larger applications. Thanks for considering!

Figma: If you’re used to working in another design tool, you may find it strange that your text styles in Figma don’t include traits like color or justification. Although it could take some getting used to, hopefully the benefits of this approach will quickly become clear. Well, no it didn’t. And strange indeed. In addition to getting used to, it takes a lot of time to to change the color every single time I create a new text element, because our text color is not black. Having a default color saved with text styles would be SO. MUCH. EASIER. I see no reason why the color can’t be in there and also be changed when using the style, if necessary.

Hello! I’m taking a course that just touched on community content. I use a large secondary monitor and, on the Figma app, the “Explore Community” button - currently at the bottom left of the window, is not where I would intuitively look to find it (nor is it anywhere near where the instructor’s version from years ago shows it). I suggest moving it back to the upper left area of the window, closer to the recents/“Your Teams” options reside.

I want to suggest a feature. You developed a new hidden panel option, but it’s actually annoying that I can’t hide the Design and Prototype panel when selecting an object. When I’m trying to drag and move elements, I don’t always need that panel — I only use it occasionally to make changes to the object. I’d like to be able to drag freely inside my workspace, especially since my laptop screen is small and the panel takes up a lot of space.
