The connector lines and shapes are very helpful when creating user flows. Will these also be supported on the Figma design files? So it’s much easier to create high fidelity user flows…
Came here to add same feedback. It will be very helpful. Please add this function to standart design tools.
I use plugins to add connections, but this less useful than your connections. Like this flexible 👍
Not at the moment, however you can copy and paste them from FigJam into Figma. I’ve moved this into the Feedback category and updated the title. That way others can vote and add additional comments. 🙂
+1 This is definitely something that could add a ton of value to the core Figma functionality! It needs to be accessible in normal project/design files and not just in Figjam.
While connectors aren’t officially supported in Figma they can be copy and pasted in from FigJam
I know. What I’m saying is it would make so much sense and be a huge time saver if we had them in Figma Design too!
Would be great also if you could anchor the connector links to any part of an image or object rather that just the sides. So that if you copy/paste a design you can anchor to buttons, menus, links on the design
I completely agree. They should be some sort of smart shape like stars, polygons, and arcs.
To be very honest, I don’t understand why FigJam is a separate product, it should be the same file to work on but with a simpler toolset. Design/Prototype/Inspect/Whiteboard. Clearly a lot of hard work and intelligence was brought forth to create FigJam but it seems to me that there is a lot of overlap with Figma.
I came here to suggest something similar, but I think FigJam should be an overlay over regular file, same way commenting is.
I created a thread here FigJam should also be an overlay over regular Figma pages (similar to commenting) - #2 by Karina2
lmao, just copy this connector arrow from figjam to figma. it works there as well
I know, this is why its annoying and why I created this request. Nearly all the logic to manipulate the connector is already built into Figma Design so just let me just place a connector there instead so I don’t have to copy one from Figjam.
Eventually when Figjam becomes its own paid for product people won’t have connectors freely available to them.
It will speed things up so much if I could just place them inside Figma and have connectors be fully editable (place text in them etc).
I tried to copy some shapes and connectors with text to Figma and find that they’ve added node types for these two: CONNECTOR and SHAPE_WITH_TEXT, these types are not in plugin documentation yet.
I think Figma will add support for connectors and shape_with_text to Figma officially in the next updates.
I was trying to add RTL Support to the connector label for RTL PLZ Plugin, but its node properties are incomplete and I hope they provide characters property or something like that to allow updating connectors label with the plugin.
I agree we need some way to add an arrow to point to any part of an image. Right now I have to hand-draw in arrows to point to something like leaving feedback.
I’ll keep it short:
I have been using all kinds of organizing plugins to try and get a nice way to connect multiple screens or flows together. Auto Arrow is currently my plugin of choice but after having used FigJam I am now 100% sure the connection tool that exists in there, needs to come to Figma as well!
Currently I’m creating user flows in Figma with plugins, but when there are a lot of flows, creating/editing becomes very slow.
Supporting connector lines within Figma would make:
- It very easy and fast to create/edit lines in a Figma document
- Add lines between hifi mockups as well
- Enable swapping out components and mockups within the hifi user flows/iterate on hifi user flows without breaking it
- Link also from nested components/frames
- Create boxes ans shaped flow charts for low fi user flows in the Figma doc
I am currently working with a client using two separate licenses of Figma (one for our agency and the other for our client).
We have used Figjam to create flow charts but we have noticed issues of connectors either getting disconnected or producing strange artifacts (lines growing much larger than original instance and looping randomly).
Has anyone else encountered these issues?
We are having issues when:
- Copying from one Figjam file to another
- Copying from a Figjam file into a Figma file
- After correcting issues in Figma (after copying from Figjam) we have noticed issues copying the “fixed” flow into another Figma file
Not sure if these are known issues that will be addressed in a future update.
I think if you had a connector button in Figma then Figjam becomes a bit pointless! Just sayin its the only reason I use Figjam, well that and the fact anyone can easily understand how to use figjam. Honestly the lack of proper formatting and custom colour options means I end up creating a component in figma to import to figjam it just doubles the work load. One app to rule them all!
I’ve been shocked for the past 3 years at the Figma product team’s flat out refusal to include connectors in Figma, despite the constant customer requests for this feature… and then they add connectors to Figjam
You can copy these connectors from FigJam into Figma, and they’ll work just the same.
HOWEVER, be warned. They are error-prone. For me, grouping/ungrouping connectors results in permanently deleting them
It could be also useful if the connectors lines could be part of a component.
Thanks for the lifehack, guys! It’s really cool stuff for the CJM.
How about FigJam in Figma?
Well, the most interesting thing is when you group all connectors in the folder in order to have everything well organized.it happens that connectors just disappear with no reason…
Came here to say this too. I thought I was clever for trying to convert a FigJam connector into a Figma component as a hack, but no… Figma wouldn’t let me do that ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
