Hey Figma team 👋We’re exploring ways to use Dev Mode annotations more heavily in our workflow so that we can move away from sticky notes and keep all developer-related notes/context directly in Figma.However, we’ve hit a challenge — users with “View only” permissions can’t see annotations. This becomes a blocker for our team because our PMs (who only need viewing access) are unable to read these annotations. It’s important that they can, since they often need to reference these details when writing specs and collaborating with engineers.We’re on an Enterprise plan, and while we understand that edit access is required for creating or modifying annotations, it would be really valuable if view-only users could at least read existing annotations.  Is there any existing workaround to allow this visibility? When a published design system library changes, designers must open each file and use Manage libraries → Updates → Update all to apply the pending component updates. I would like a feature in FigJam that allows for adding links to specific locations on the board.When consolidating information on a single board to explore ideas, navigating around can become difficult if there is a large amount of content spread out.It would be very helpful if we could place "link pins" at specific spots on the board, and then create links to those pins from text or shapes—this would make it much easier to reference information across the board.

As per this discussion - How to disable 'observe' mode - #5 by Dave2 - I think it would be useful to be able to turn off ‘observe mode’. It is very annoying being watched while I work, unless I specifically am trying to share/demonstrate something. It is the digital version of someone looking over your shoulder. I dont want to have to remove people’s permissions from the file just to stop them digitally stalking me.

Current version of Figma Motion is missing export of current frame (either with Command + Shift + C and Export tab / Static): 

 "Make an image" can’t generate images in different aspect ratios, like 16:9, 4:3, vertical formats and more. It only outputs 1:1 square images by default.Even when requesting other ratios, outputs are inaccurate with large deviations, which is really inconvenient.Freely selectable and correctly matched image ratios are urgently needed for "Make an image".If there’s any existing workaround to generate images at the desired aspect ratio, please share it. Hello,Please add an option to generate images with a transparent background when the selected AI model supports it.A simple “Transparent background” toggle in the image generation settings would make this easy to use. Ideally, it should request native transparency from the model rather than generate an opaque image and remove the background afterward.This would be especially useful for creating icons, illustrations, stickers, and standalone objects that need to blend into a design without a rectangular background.Expected behavior: Show the option when the selected model supports transparent output. Preserve actual transparency when placing the generated image on the canvas and exporting it as PNG. Produce a genuine alpha channel—not a checkerboard pattern rendered into the image. The key benefit is getting a ready-to-use asset directly inside Figma, without a separate background-removal step or manual cleanup around the edges.

I wish it could have the private mode, not necessarily for main files but for branches at least. The collaboration is great in Figma, but I sometimes just need some space and privacy. Even turning on hiding the cursors, I still feel distracted and uncomfortable when someone is watching me work. I tried using the branch to create my own working space, but the same team members can still access all branches. Hope can see some sort of private mode in Figma.

When we share links to prototypes in Figma Design, we can customize the sharing to be visible to people outside of our company (great for usability testing). Permissions for slide presentations have to be set at the slide file level, which is annoying when you have the presentation open and you want to just adjust the sharing permissions from right inside the dialog.

Every time I exit Figma and come back, the previously selected sort order is lost, and it defaults to "Last modified" – "Newest first". Previously, the selected sorting option was always preserved.

It would be amazing if Figma added a reference point control (or anchor point control) for scaling and rotation, similar to what tools like photoshop and After Effects have had for years.Right now, everything scales from the top-left by default, which usually isn’t what I’m aiming for.Having a quick toggle (or anchor grid) to set the center of action would save so much manual repositioning.

Would like to see a fifth option here, that just says “Thumbnail with link to file”. So it just like a card for a link in FigJam, but it saved to the FigJam file instead of being somewhere out there on the internet.

Manually reordering values by dragging them into position becomes tedious when a property contains a long list of names. As new values are added, keeping the list organized requires more manual adjustments. Unsorted dropdowns also make it harder to find the right value when using a component.Proposed solutionAdd a “Sort A–Z” action in the variant property editor to sort all its values in one click. This order should also be reflected in the property dropdown when selecting an instance of the component.An optional “Keep values sorted alphabetically” setting would also be helpful, so new values are automatically placed in the correct position.This would save time when maintaining component libraries and make long dropdown lists easier to navigate.

In other words a way to branch to/from a Community file Hi everyone, I publish a design system (DS) to the Community and have frequent updates to fix issues and add/update components. Community members duplicate this DS to their Organizational account to use in their own projects. They have reported to me that once they import the Figma file into their org and use it as a library they have no way of getting my latest updates easily and without breaking changes into their production design files that refer to the original “duplicated” file. So it would be great if there was a way to publish “get latest” or “subscribe to changes” in a community file. (Instead of having to restart design file from scratch in the latest version of the Design System). Librairies features are not an option as they are specific to an ORG and cannot be accessed through the community. And Swapping in this use case does not work well at all. This would be great for everyone as it would allow Figma to always ship

Currently, an image with an effect, like a drop shadow, is exported with that effect. If a developer wants the image without the shadow, to add with CSS separately, they must disable it in the design, export, then turn it back on. This is cumbersome and prone to error. Instead, there should be another checkbox in the export menu allowing this to be done there, without altering the design.

In dev mode, we can see “Created {time} ago”, and a button to see what changed, who changed it. But we can only know who created it if it is modified at least once. In other words, if it is created & finished within a same day, we cannot know who created it. Especially in a file where multiple editors collaborate together. I think Figma should have a text somewhere telling “Created by” near that timestamp in Dev Mode or somewhere in viewer’s Properties panel.

Hi,Problem:When we have huge files with a lot of pages then doing search functionality freezes figma. Let’s say Figma finds it after taking sometime and the person continues their work. However, the problem is that when they click on search the same keyword that was typed before retains and makes the search freeze again. Now, either the person has to reload file or wait again to complete the search and retype something different to do another search. Solution:One solution that comes on the top of my mind is that the search functionality shouldn’t execute autmoatically until the person presses enter to search.Regards,Hamza

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe there’s anyway to disable the snap to grid with a keyboard shortcut. Typically in programs I’ve used, you can disable snapping by holding CTRL or ALT. Since ALT has the functionality of duplicating the selected item, it would be nice if holding CTRL then could be used to prevent items from snapping to the grid when dragging them. Thank you+1

I would like for Figma to support setting variants as preferred instances within a slot. Right now, it seems slots can only support base level components as a slot value, but our design system is currently composed of many variants.For example, I want to build a card that can have different layouts of buttons at the bottom. In our design system, we have buttons in small, medium, and large variants, but I want the card to only allow for medium and large buttons. Ideally, I would set the medium and large variants as the preferred instances, but since Figma doesn’t allow a variant to be inserted into a slot as a preferred instance, the only way to achieve this is to rebuild the variants each as their own base level component.

I never use the AI Agent. I have no desire to use the AI Agent. I resent Figma’s attempts to get me to use the AI Agent. Yet, when I create a new Design file, the AI Agent panel is open by default. Two questions:How do I select either “File” or “Assets” as the default pane that opens when I create a new Design? When will you release an update that allows me to remove the AI Agent button from my left nav bar?

We generate FigJam flow diagrams (breadboards: screens with stacked actions, arrows between them) from a plugin via the Figma MCP. The Plugin API lets us set a connector's two endpoints (node + magnet or position), but not where an elbowed connector bends — FigJam always puts the vertical leg at the midpoint between the ends. On any non-trivial flow (several places stacked in a column, links skipping a column or looping back), that means several connectors share the same channel or cut through boxes, and the only workarounds are hidden dummy nodes or replacing arrows with text labels.  What would fix it:Read/write access to a connector's waypoints (or the elbow offset that the UI lets you drag), e.g. connector.waypoints = [{x, y}, …] for ELBOWED/STRAIGHT lines Or at least an "avoid overlapping other connectors/nodes" routing option Users can already drag elbows by hand in the UI; we'd just like the same control from a plugin, so generated diagrams look like hand-drawn ones.

I also recommend Figma for creating all kinds of designs, whether digital or print materials. Unfortunately, Figma does not fully support print design. We would love to see this feature added to Figma!
