As the title, how can I help developers to only use the development mode rather than including file editing? Currently, when I approve someone’s request for dev mode, they are counted as a Design Seat. Then, in addition to using Dev Mode, they can also edit files.
I opened Figma to use it after a long time and updated it, and I was a little confused because the toolbar was floating at the bottom. From a user’s perspective, If you work in an environment like an iPad or laptop, it doesn’t seem to be a big problem considering the mouse movement and distance, But in the case of a desktop, it’s fixed at the bottom, and I can’t even change it. It’s disappointing that the tool that creates and designs UI/UX has been updated to an interface that ignores UX. I wish it could be changed to a top-bar style toolbar like in the past.

When using the color picker, if the object you’re picking from has a color style applied, the color picker doesn’t apply that style to the selected object — it just applies the hex value (or whatever color model you have set) of the pixel you click. This can lead to messy colors not adhering to your style guide. Instead, the color picker should apply the color style of the clicked object if it has one. (You could click the stroke to apply the stroke’s color style, or the fill to apply the fill’s color style.) If you do want to be able to pick the pixel color instead of the style, there could be an additional modifier key to hold while clicking. With the current functionality, if you want to apply the same color style to another object, you first have to click the already-styled object to see what style is applied (assuming you may have multiple similar shades and can’t eyeball it), then click the object you want to style, and then find that color style in the list and apply it. I do appreciate the new features like variables and conditionals and they help a lot in building prototypes. But there are some improvements that are needed to make this product truly great: When I am editing the interactions, the panel is super small and cannot be resized. I have variables in groups, so I can usually only read the group name and not the variable name. This means I have to open every single interaction to understand what it does. It would also be great to not only see the variables but already the interaction. The panel (popup) needs to be resizable. The search and select in this panel is also not ideal. I need to make sure that the element the interaction is on is at the very top of the screen. Otherwise the select disappears from my screen, I cannot read anything and I have to close it, move the canvas and start over. When I set a variable and type in “true” and then hit enter, I expect that this interaction is saved and the select dropdown disappears. Instead an “=

Imagine having a feedback session with you team and you come up with some changes or ideas that needed to be implemented in Figma, if we could somehow bind this commenting of Figma to notion boards, could make our lives way more Figmaish!
Hi everyone, I’ve been using Figma’s custom bezier curves for a while now, and while they work great, I find myself frequently copy-pasting the same easing values across multiple components. This gets tedious, especially when I want to experiment with different easings for different elements. I’m curious if anyone has come up with a way to streamline this process or create more flexible solutions, like using variables for bezier curves, or any creative approaches that make managing multiple easing curves across components easier. Here are a few bezier curve names I’ve been working with: glide (0.5, 0, 0.5, 1) quick-snap (0.25, 1, 0.5, 1) Ideally, I want something like this in Figma where I would create Number variables and String variables and just plug them in and when I want to experiment I would just change the variables so I wouldn’t have to go through all my components to experiment with the easing: I’d love to hear any alternatives or tips you have for managing bezier curves a
As seen in the picture Figma variables userd as 3 collections by the name tokens, alias then semantic. Semantic variables have been assigned to element in design. With the time being, and while using many designers, there are unused variables in each collection. Is there a way to check them out, so we can safely remove from the collection/s.
Hello, My uni id got deactivated a few weeks back, I am now unable to access my Figma account that was connected to it - that’s about 3 years of design work. I have sent an email to the Figma support, would really appreciate if anyone can help me here:))
"I want the selected shape node to become a child of a specific frame while keeping its position and rotation unchanged. When I manually drag and drop the shape into the frame using the Figma Layers panel, this works perfectly (left frame in the image). However, when I try to do the same using the Figma Plugin API, the shape’s position and rotation are altered (right frame in the image). Any way to achieve the same programmatically?
How is this even possible, and why is it happening? I have about 5 files, and 2 of them serve as the main sources for components and variables. For the past 3 days, Figma has been randomly deciding which variables to export to other files and which ones not to. As a result: From one file, I can only see 2 out of 40 necessary variables. From another file, no variables are being exported at all. This morning, I created 4 new test variables, and guess what? They immediately appeared in all the other files. But the critical variables I actually need are still not updating! Where is support? Why hasn’t this issue been resolved after several days? This is paralyzing the entire team’s workflow!
There is a blue box that sometimes appears around some of the tools on the design panel. For example, the box that I’ve drawn in the screenshot below. And upon clicking enter, it changes the toggle. I wonder if anyone knows how to trigger this as a keyboard shortcut? I stumble on this a few times but do not know how to recreate it. I figure it’ll save me a lot of time instead of having to access the design panel via my cursor. Thanks!
Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with compatibility between Auto Layout and Smart Animate. I have two components, accordion lists, with several variants that collapse and expand through Smart Animate. Whenever I apply Auto Layout to the frame with the components, they lose the Smart Animate effect, the page twitches and then the accordion list expands with Instant effect. I’ve done all the tutorials in youtube or in Figma community, by deleting Figma folder in localapp or app data, but still can’t login
Hello folks ! I’m in charge of a very large multi-brand design system and it’s so complexe, because each one need specific customization ! I’m scared it begin to be a mess soon, for now we have 4 brands in the design system. Does any one have faced that ?
Same issue here, M3 Pro mac / desktop app. Never had lag like this in Figma. Cleared cache to no avail. Seems to have started after a recent update in the past week or so.
I am having issue with fonts. The first one, on some files and sometimes I can not add text or edit the existing text. When I try with shortcut or from the menu, it doesn’t work. I have uninstall some of the plugins as it might cause the issue, but still not working on some of my files (on same account) The second thing is, the file that I have build the design system on, I can not see the fonts. Fonts seem missing. Please see the attachment
