Using expression as a variable's value

Please add support for math operations for setting variables’ values like we do in Tokens Studio for Figma plugin. This would allow to build presets based on a common base value and therefore easily switch between e.g. standard and dense layouts.

Eyedropper tool reverted to old UI

I really enjoyed using the new eyedropper tool that was released in mid-November. However, today I noticed that my eyedropper seems to have reverted to the old version. It now uses the magnification circle in the upper right corner and doesn’t allow me to hold Shift to pick color variables instead of hex values. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to get back to the new eyedropper tool UI? As far as I can tell, everything else is still using the updated UI3. Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Unable to upload preview video Plugin Community Page

Hi. I have built a Plugin called OKLCH Color Variations. I recently pushed an update to the plugin. I want to upload a preview video of the Plugin to its community page along with the images that I have uploaded, but I’m unable to do that. The video size is 30mb, and its 1920x1080p. I’m getting a red color alert at the bottom with no text on it. Please help, Thanks!. Request for Native Figma App on iPad

Hi Figma Team, I’m a designer who frequently uses Figma on my iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard. While the browser version of Figma works, it’s not fully optimized for iPadOS, especially when using the trackpad for zooming or panning. This often causes the entire page (including sidebars) to zoom, rather than just the canvas. Having a native iPad app would not only provide a smoother and more intuitive experience but also leverage the unique capabilities of the iPad, like touch gestures, Apple Pencil, and the Magic Keyboard. It would be a game-changer for designers who prefer working on the go or those who have integrated iPads into their workflows. Is there any plan to develop a native app for iPad in the near future? I’m sure many in the community would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for considering this request.

New Figma UI - Sucks!

Hi mates! I unexpectedly got access to the beta version of the new UI Figma. After using it for several days in a row I want to share my thoughts on why it sucks. First, let’s take a look at it. The most obvious changes: 1. Side panels have been redesigned. They no longer stick to the edges of the screen. 2. The top control panel has been partially moved down. 3. The design system has been updated. I want to start with the main feeling of it before focusing on the details. I lost the sense that Figma is a program for designers. The lightness inherent in the words “design”, and “art” has gone somewhere. The feeling that anyone can learn this program easily has gone away. Now it looks like a program for engineers and developers. Boring, heavy, tedious, and uninteresting. All these new endless strokes and contrasting backgrounds on inputs are similar to the well-known services for assembling business card sites, after which returning to Figma, for me personally, was a breath of fresh

Would be great to have an ability to pin plugins for easy and quick access. Just like it’s done on FigmaEX

Setting color variables

It is frustrating that when I am setting a color variable in a prototype, I can’t change it to another color variable or to a different mode of that variable. I can only change it to a new custom hex value. I love the new variables feature, but the color changing aspect is not nearly as helpful as it could be with a simple fix! 🙂

Multiple custom color palettes in FigJam (Professional)

Hi - I’m a freelance consultant and I want to program custom color palettes for each of my clients in FigJam for workshops. It seems that is only available in the Organization and Enterprise licenses. Is there any workaround? And is there any plan for this to be offered to the professional tier of licenses?

Adjust Zoom based on amount of canvas used

Zooming in Figma is terrible! We can theoretically use the entire canvas (although limited, which is another pain point) but we cannot zoom out to see everything and more easily zoom back into what we want. It’s just tons of time wasted scrolling around. Why not make the zoom-ability adjust based on the amount of the used canvas + Xamount ?? If I’m only using 20k x 20k area, adjust the 0% to that amount. This will save all of us tons of time and frustration looking for things that need a lot of space.

Mysterious error found on the console

Across all my files I keep seeing this same error whenever I select a text layer. I was trying to test run my own text-based plugin and this got in the way. I never used the ‘Devanagari’ font that’s mentioned in the error. How do I get rid of this error? type or paste code here

Wish there was a way to convert shapes into stickies and vice versa

How do I configure developers to only use Dev Mode without file editing capabilities?

As the title, how can I help developers to only use the development mode rather than including file editing? Currently, when I approve someone’s request for dev mode, they are counted as a Design Seat. Then, in addition to using Dev Mode, they can also edit files.

About Tool bar position. It's so weird!

I opened Figma to use it after a long time and updated it, and I was a little confused because the toolbar was floating at the bottom. From a user’s perspective, If you work in an environment like an iPad or laptop, it doesn’t seem to be a big problem considering the mouse movement and distance, But in the case of a desktop, it’s fixed at the bottom, and I can’t even change it. It’s disappointing that the tool that creates and designs UI/UX has been updated to an interface that ignores UX. I wish it could be changed to a top-bar style toolbar like in the past.

Jira Ticket Not Loading on FigJam

When I add Jira tickets to FigJam that include pictures it will not load. Adding Jira Tickets without an image does load as expected.

Add Developer seats to Professional Plan // uncouple edit rights from Dev-Mode

Hey all! tl;dr: Professional Plan does not offer Dev-only seats. Currently, Devs automatically have Design edit rights when they got upgraded for Dev-Mode. This clearly needs some rework! Please remove automatic edit rights from Dev-Mode seats. Currently we are running on a Professional plan with a small team (2 designers 2 devs). Today, as the team owner I upgraded our Devs so they can continue using Dev-Mode. However the upgrade just allows me to set their “Design seat” roles to “Full”. Since they do not need (and want) edit rights and just want to use Dev-Mode I tried setting them to “Viewer-restricted”. I assumed this would remove their edit rights and keep the access for Dev-Mode since we have enough seats in our plan. Unfortunately, this does not work. It completely removes access for Dev-Mode. Figma, please look into this and improve the team management experience and separate the edit rights from viewer-based rights such as viewing files and using Dev-Mode. The easiest solution

Truly, there has been no advancements in Figma for over 6 months. I don’t care what happened at Config: AI and some Apple/Google templates, THAT’S IT??? Adobe is sitting sideline jealous of the thievery Figma is pulling here.

Back/forward navigate button

Slack has back and forward buttons that you can use to jump back through channels you were recently in, and forward again. I wish every day that Figma had the same feature for pages! It’s really a pain to be on one page of a file and then go to another page, or open a link to a totally different Figma file, and then not remember exactly where I came from, especially when I’m trying to compare content across different pages. Plus scrolling through a long sidebar of pages to find the right ones over and over again…yuck!

"While hovering" state for variable is not working

I created a small demo for the icon hovering state which will change color and show a tooltip on hover. But when I was using the variables to control this, it seems like the “While hovering” state is not working properly and it will never change back to the original state anymore. wondering whether it’s a bug? shouldn’t the variables change back to the default states when the cursor is no longer there? (also I’m not able to use the “mouse out” together with “while hovering”, wonder how others deal with this)

Let users in Dev/View Mode see all local variables and style details

We wrote about this in 2023. Unfortunately, the situation has not changed yet… It’s mega inconvenient that developers can’t view variables in the viewport. Giving everyone access to edit is extremely expensive, simply impossible.

I want to be able to assign individual margins to elements within the Autolayout.
