We just wrapped the big announcements at Config, and we know there’s a lot to take in.

This thread is your space to share reactions, ask questions, and let us know what you're excited about (or still curious about) with regard to Figma Make. Our team will be actively reading and sharing relevant takeaways with the product team.

What we’d love to hear from you:

  • What aspects are you most excited about — and why?
  • Where do you still have questions or want more clarity?
  • Anything that didn’t quite land for you yet?

A few quick reminders:

Figma Config 2025 – Wow! 🎉

😍Absolutely blown away by all the new tools and features—some really exciting things are coming! That said, I’m wondering where we can share feedback and real pain points.

A few important ones:

  • Still waiting for the AI features teased last year to show up in the toolbar.

  • Would love to see AI-generated design systems and components—not just suggestions but actual reusable structures.

  • Imagine if Figma could automatically generate light/dark modes and responsive breakpoints while designing—huge time-saver!

  • Also, it’d be game-changing if the Figma Design System came preloaded with smart, native components, ready to use out of the box.

😉 Some competitors already offer parts of this for free, so I hope Figma levels up here soon. Keep pushing boundaries—amazing job so far! 💜

Hi @Erzen_Pashaj — thanks for reaching out and for taking the time to share your feedback on today’s announcements! Your insights help us continuously refine our tools to better serve our community!

Following up on your first point, if you're not seeing AI tools, it can be for one of two reasons:

  • you're on a Starter plan; or
  • your admin has turned off AI tools for your organization.

For more information on admin permissions, have a look in the support center: Manage team permissions, and if you’re still unable to get it sorted out — reach out to the Support Team. With that, an account specialist will be able to take a deeper dive. 🙏

Many thnx Thomas.

Hello Thomas,

I am interested in Figma Make and would definetely get a subscription if it also works with slides/pitch decks. Is that the case?

Thanks in advance.

how about increasing the number of modes to let’s say 12 for proffesional plan?

Will we be able to connect Figma Make apps to a backend, like Supabase?

Hey Thomas! Congrats to the team on all the new features and tools launched at Config! I had a great time watching the demos and guest speakers~

I’ve been trying out Figma Make to refine and do some light prototyping of our designs, and had a couple questions:

  • Will there be a way to export the edited design back into Figma?
    • I know this may pose some challenges because of the code and prototyping, but this would be SO helpful for adjusting designs, aligning with our design system, as well as passing off to our engineering team!
  • Perhaps a better solution could be to create a version of Figma Make that doesn’t convert to code or prototype interactions, and is purely more “design” focused with frames that you can put back into your design file and continue creating?
  • Does there exist an easier way to just provide the different components, colors, variables, etc to our engineering team (like dev mode, rather than directly passing them the code)?

If we could export edited designs back into a design file, Figma Make would be an absolute game changer!!

Many thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all of your thoughtful questions and perspectives around what’s possible with Figma Make. I’m seeing three main themes emerging and I’ve organized them below to share with the product team. While a specific timeline isn’t available, we look forward to sharing more on the roadmap when we can.

  1. Figma Slides and Figma Design-only workflows

We’re hearing interest from folks like @oreocerise in using Figma Make for slides and pitch decks. While this isn’t currently supported with Make, there are already a number of AI tools available in Figma Slides — learn more here.

And thank you to @cindy16 for flagging the need for a more design-focused mode that doesn’t convert to code or prototypes.

  2. Customization and integration options

@Hoang Phan – increasing the number of modes (e.g. 12 for Pro plans) is a request we’re tracking, though this isn’t available at this time.

@Mat_Mayes – we understand the interest in connecting Make to backends like Supabase. This is something on our radar, though we can’t share specifics yet.

  3. Design system and developer handoff enhancements

We know how valuable it would be to export edits back into a Figma file — and we’re hearing requests for better alignment with design systems and easier handoff to development teams — similar to Dev Mode, but for Make.

Please keep the feedback coming. It’s helping us better understand what’s resonating and where we can improve. We’ll continue updating this thread as we learn more.

I don't want to export edits back to Figma, I want the design and site to be one and the same like Framer or Webflow.

Sites being a separate context entirely makes this inherently more clunky than the competition.

This reduced attention to your CORE product is monopolistic behavior that will make people turn away from you!

Just a suggestion: You may consider adding REAL value to your CORE product (e.g. better prototyping), instead of a range of half-bakes solutions for hobbyists that will never come to full fruition. You are becoming Adobe...

Love this new feature, have been waiting on it since the moment I heard about it at the Config. So glad it didn’t take as much time to get to me as AI features last year - hehe!

Got a question: is there a time limit to engage and update the designs in there, cause I just wanted to update the design with new prompts, but the field seems to be inactive and I can’t type anything there. Does anyone know what’s the deal, would be sad to lose the progress I made.

Thanx!

When working on a Figma Make (why not call it FigMake? – Big-time missed opportunity) project it drives me nuts that in the code view, there is no save option. I am constantly interrupted with error messages as I type in my changes because it is trying to auto-sync before I am ready. A perfect example: When trying to swap out an icon import, I will add the new lucide icon component and before I can add a comma after the name, it is throwing errors because of formatting or not recognizing the new icon name. It would be amazing to let me tell it when I am done with edits.

Another thing I wish I could do is create new directories and files without having to prompt it. A right click in the directory to add a new directory or file would be a big time saver.

Also rolling back versions is not very reliable or predictable. It also misses manual edits that I make in a component file, which is frustrating when I have to roll something back. I have had several times when I have rolled back a project and there is some relic of the old path that shows up down the road again (like completely removing large portions of pages I have configured).

Let me end by saying this product is amazing and I can see the potential it gives me to become a native-ai product designer. Thank you all.

Hi, I just got my hands on Figma Make and here are some early thoughts:

  1. Currently, as a designer, I feel like my hands are tied. Make it possible to directly manipulate objects position, rotation and scale etc. this is what Figma users are used to from all the other tools. Moving an object via prompt first makes me think about how to phrase it and then wait for the script to be completely rewritten from scratch, which can take several minutes. Quick iteration times is crucial when designing. And this workflow makes it painfully slow. Remember Dreamweaver? They made the possibility to design either on canvas or in code feel intuitive and seamless.
  2. when publishing something with interactive elements you can drag, in the mobile browser it scrolls the full page instead of moving the object. I would want a way to turn the page scrolling off.
  3. If I fine-tuned one object of my make file, like interaction etc, I would like to easily be able to re use that in a different make file, like components work.
  4. I would expect when pasting a component in the prompt that Figma make would better understand how it has been setup with variants, interaction etc. Now have to explain all the logic for Figma make again, from scratch.
  5. when pasting a component in the prompt I would expect Figma make to use that component exactly as it looks. Now it is clearly an attempt to recreate the look with a different toolset.

I have just gotten started on exploring Figma Make, still figuring out what it’s good at and not and what level of detail it works best with like fine-tuning animation of a single object or controlling larger contexts.

It’s not often I feel so excited about a new tool! Looking forward to where this is going. Thanks and Godspeed!

I aggree with all said here, the code editing experience is very bad at the moment. If i’m able to edit code, I like the full IDE experience - not being interupted by a linter, missing save functionality, tabs, creating new files/folders and many more functions ...

Since the only way to access prototypes or web apps I’d create in Figma Make is by exporting them to a Figma domain, I don’t see myself ever making use of the tool (or Sites for that matter, for the same reason).

It was disappointing to see Figma follow Framer’s locked-down approach.

Hi! I’m wondering how long it typically takes to paste a Figma frame into Figma Make. I’m trying to paste a simple frame, but it seems to take forever to load. Is this expected, or might something be wrong on my end? Thank you!

I have yet been able to find a useful application for Make with the current implementation.

It is fun to play around with and see what it can do, but it lacks actual application to my design workflow.

I think the initial thing that could get me using it would be the ability to paste entire flows/prototypes as context for vibe coding up a prototype.

I would also love to see a design system focuses solution where a user could vibe code a component and connect/export (code connect). This would be super helpful for speeding up design system library management across disciplines.

And if both of these worked well together, the code output from make should become more and more usable for engineering teams to actually be able to use.

Just tried Figma Make and it’s pretty amazing! Only major roadblock for me at the moment is not being able to export what I made directly into a new Design file so I can take back control and do the styling and fine tuning myself. When I asked the AI how to do this, it suggested that I remake what I made in a new file, which to me, defeats the objective.

Really, really impressed, though! Very exciting things on the horizon, keep up the innovative work.👍

@Tom Reem Hope you are doing fine.

I had a little query regarding the AI usage limits for Figma Make. I know that this whole feature set is in beta phase, but still I would like to know if there are any limits for AI usage like prompt limit for a day, reset poliices, etc that have been placed right now on Figma Make?

Figma Make created a prototype for me beyond my expectations. Sadly it’s unsharable though, as the link won’t load on Chrome or Safari due - the links seem to have security issues
(Seems like some devices have this problem and some don’t)

I was VERY Impressed with the capabilities of figma make to start but after playing with it for a couple weeks i feel like i’ve hit a dead end. Not sure how this saved me any time or improved my workflow.

It was very buggy even when I gave specific components to use or specific screenshots and told to replicate exactly it would often do its own thing / version of it.  So now I have a really fun interactive prototype but I still have to fine tune to use for our design system and to create a hand off file for developers.

To make minor tweaks (even just removing an element or changing the wording on something) required so much time for the code to re-write itself. Essentially was always taking a gamble on whether it was going to do what I said, or take what I said to do, and recreate things that I didn’t ask for.  I constantly had to give specific instructions to “not make any other changes etc” and hope for the best.

Exciting and understand its still in BETA so I hope these key improvements happen to make this useable for designing products at scale and to solve real problems for real key users (designers).
