I have a simple design and I want to change swap out one color for another. I want to be able to do this 10x as I reuse this project in the future. I thought the best way to this was to create Variables and then switch modes. When I select all the frames in the design and switch modes to a different color variables nothing changes. I noticed that the mode tag on the group layer changes but none of the variables in the group change. What’s the point of a variable change that cannot change if the object I want to change the color of is within a group? I can get the desired change by individually selecting every object and selecting the new mode. Is there a better way to change all the colors in a project at once without duplicating the file and changing styles (using Styles instead of Variables)?

hey, is there a way to prototype a color picker? let’s say I have an empty frame or a button or a shape and I click on it, I want it to show an overlay with a couple of colors, and when I choose one I want the frame to be the color I chose.

It’s a bit complicated to explain, but the components are built using text, color, and shapes. I need to update them with a new color scheme and text theme. The design system is quite extensive, and adapting it to these new styles is necessary. What steps should I take to make this update efficiently?

Hello, since the support rejected my question I come here to have answers. I’m a student and I need to share my prototypes for anyone (public) to conduct tests. This function isn’t free anymore and you need to have a pro account. Since I was using my personal account, I requested a student access and send all the files needed. I received a mail to confirm my account was now registered as a student one but nope. My account (with the right mail) is still a starter one. Why?? Hey there, We made a mistake building our grey scale color. We have variables where grey/400 and a grey/500 are way too close and we realize it should be called grey/300. How can I merge two variables into one with a new name ? What’s the best solution ? (as I can’t name two variables with the same name in the same collection) Cheers, Louis

Intended, a bug, or am I doing something wrong? I created a “swap me” component to sit within a page shell component I swapped in a local component with the desired content for the page I modified the instance of my local page content component I need to reset to the original version of my local component so I selected “reset all changes” Figma resets it to the “swap me” placeholder instead of the local component I replaced it with. In order to reset to the master of the local component with the intended page content, I have to re-swap the “swap me” component, which is tedious.

Whenever I use smart animate to go from one frame to another, the elements start moving in weird ways like I’ve shown in the video. How can I fix this?

Hi All, Is it possible to use “private publish” as staging? So for example I developed a plugin, private published it, then published it to community and later on want to keep private-publish until a certain point and publish to community when ready

The awesome new auto layout! Thanks Figma <3 My topic: The wrap feature does always fill the available width, before adding a second row. I’m looking for the setting how to fill the possible height first, before adding a new column. In the screenshot you can see the fifth item will always align top right instead of below-right. Is there a setting to choose “vertical first” instead of “horizontal first”? Best, Kerstin

Hi! I’ve seen that the branching feature of Figma visually shows you the difference between what is currently in the main branch vs the branch you will be merging at the review stage of the merge. I understand that if I change a main component I will then see this diff visually. I haven’t upgraded to the Organization plan yet so I’ve yet to try it myself. What I’m interested in knowing is if the diffing also visually shows what frames that use an instance of this changed component look like after the change? If it does, does it still work the same if the main component and the instance of it are in different files? This would definitely help spot if things look broken in frames where instances of the component is used, not just where the main component lives. Thanks!

I have some old design files for my work and the previous designer used some icon fonts like material icons and font awesome When I first started work I spent too much time installing the correct font for sketch app, but I don’t remember how I could manage to install them properly Now I switched to Figma, and had no problem viewing them but after having a factory reset on my computer my old problem is back again. GitHub I downloaded all these fonts here. But when I replace them with these fonts, they turn out to be wrong. Material Icons and symbols are different it seems. But i tried them all Has anyone have any idea?

I have a variety of master components set up in one file. And in another file various instances of these master components. All the master components have images within them set up to be exportable at various sizes and image formats. However for one reason or another when I look at these images in the instance version the export settings from the master component are not there. Is this just a missing feature? Or is there a reason they’re not inherited from the master?

My .fig folder on my Macbook tages up a whooping 46GB of space! This is because the daemon.log file is 45GB. Is this file safe to delete? Have a good day!

I have clip content checked/selected but it’s not clipping my contents on the bottom of the frame however it works on the sides. Can anyone help me with this?

I have a trigger element ( a text link) that opens a small window when the user clicks on it, that window is showing behind everything else when open. I checked the layers and they are in the right order I am using auto layout and I changed the “Canva Stacking” option changed the constrain to be on top I am new using Figma so I am lost on what to do now, I tried rebuilding this by groupings instead of auto layout to see if that was the problem and it not working. The following is the picture of the problem How do I keep this elements to the front when that layer is already at the top and brought to front. Thank you in advance for your help

I have an issue with my library, I cant push updates on buttons because I have a Conflicting property value but I got no idea where this “conflict” is. Can somebody help me?

I usually hold down command and hover over layers nested in a frame/auto-layout to select, instead of having to click multiple times to drill down to that layer. Now it seems all janky? only some auto-layouts will outline when I command+hover and others will drill down the the lowest granularity layer which is NOT what I want. for example, a button on a page. command+hover will not allow me to select the button. I have to click on the page multiple times to get to the button OR select the label and then the button. this is KILLING my productivity. What happened???

Hi, community! I’m pretty new to Figma so please bear with me. For a website design, I followed one of the many mesh gradient tutorials out there to make animated mesh gradients that work great in Figma’s preview mode. But when my developer grabs Figma’s CSS to recreate the gradients in code, he says all sorts of numbers in the CSS code that Figma gives him are wrong, such as the rotation angles of the shapes that animate. He is making do by manually changing numbers based on his best guesses, but this seems like an inaccurate and labor-intensive workaround. Many files and tutorials exist on Youtube and the Figma community that teach how to create animated mesh gradients in Figma, but none of these tutorials address the question of how a developer is supposed to consume the resulting animation in code to reproduce it on a real website. Are my developer and I missing something fundamental about animated mesh gradients?

We have a presentation we are giving with multiple prototypes. One flow per slide to show different features. Each prototype that was inserted kept changing from the selected flow to just the first page of the linked file, which is a cover page in our case. We couldn’t figure out how to fix the problem but found that putting the prototypes on the first page of the source Figma file allowed them to work in the presentation. If anyone is having a hard time figuring this out, this workaround should work.

Today when I opened my wireframes, there is now a green box around many of my images. It had never been there before and I have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it. It also does not fully surround all the images. Many images it cuts into an edge of the image if that is a clue. TIA Dan
