Hey @Darlene, thank you for reaching out!
Thanks for trying yourself some troubleshooting steps!
To improve performance in a file you can check the tips in this article: Reduce memory usage
Can you also try to force-quit and open Figma in a new browser window (or force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it.)
If there are still any issue after trying these steps, please let us know the following:
- Are you seeing any error message on your end?
- Does the issue happen in both the browser and desktop app?
- Can you please forward a screen recording of this issue? Please ensure to include the full Figma screen including the left and right hand panels so we can see the exact name of the layers and properties, and file names you are working on.
- If possible can you share your file and add support-share@figma.com as an editor on this file so I can take a closer look also.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
I’ve restarted the app multiple times and that hasn’t worked.
- There’s no error message
- It only seems to happen on the app, not the browser
- Is there an email I can forward the screen rexording to? It’s got sensitive info on it so I don’t want to just post it here.
- I’ve changed the access for support to editor now.
The memory is also at 7% so shouldn’t be the issue.
Thanks!
Hey @Darlene, thank you for your response!
I’ve just created a support ticket. Your ticket number is #1001845, for reference.
You’ve mentioned this is happening in the desktop app. Please make sure you’ve the newest version of the operating system. Also, try reinstalling to install the latest version. We recommend keeping the desktop app updated to the latest available version.
Feel free to share the file in the email. Can you download Figma desktop app debug logs and share it with the support team? This will help them when investigating what’s causing the lagging. You can find the instructions on how to do that in out Help Center article: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/19589001018903-Download-Figma-desktop-app-debug-logs.
Let me know if you have any further question, happy to help out!
a similar thing happened to me.
- crippling slow on Figma Desktop (version 124.1.16 for Mac)
- but perfectly fast on Figma Web (which I never use)
a new simplified file with even just a few frames would move super slow , vs another file with tens of more screens, images and gradients.
I tried the logs, but both files were 50 -100 Mb and ended up discarding reading them myself
oddly enough, after opening the file in Figma WEB, and restarting the computer, ALSO the Figma Desktop version now is smooth.
so if anyone has this problem, try this sequence ☝️ too
