The selected frame is the component and the other 3 frames on the right are instances of it. I want to change the icons of the right 3 instances ? How do i do it? (I mean, is there any way to do this without detaching the instances?)

I am not satisfied with the texts things, Image placing and auto-mask in canvas.

Hello ! I need help ! I just started with Figma and I’m already stuck : I wanted to have my own fonts on my projects so I checked on Google how to and no matter what I tried, nothing works. I have the desktop app, all my fonts are on my font library on my mac, even tried to get the plug in from the Figma download page (even if it’s said that’s not useful for the desktop version, but who knows, magic or something) … Even have refreshed the page maybe 10 times nop, doesn’t works. Can someone please help me find the solution here ? Thanks !

Hi, I’ve been trying to export a slide deck which has a lot of images but whenever I download it as a pdf the images only appear as blank/black squares and I can’t figure out how to fix it.

Hello, To my surprise I have discovered that many of my files are available for “anyone with the link”. I don’t know how this could have happened as I understand this needs to be a deliberate action. I noticed this because a prototype was set for anyone with the link to view. I understand that inherits from the main working file which was also set for anyone with the link to view. How that was set is beyond me. Again, I thought that is a deliberate action and I would not have done that on a single file let alone many files. Am I wrong? Are new files “public” by default? Is there a way to tell at a glance which of my files are set to “anyone with the link”? Is there a way to affect these settings in bulk? To be clear, I have no need for public links and don’t like what I’m feeling like is a lack of good control over this feature. (When I share I want it to be for “invited only” or similar). Thanks for any insight into the sharing of Figma files.

Hey friends, I am pulling interactive components from a library via the assets tab. I am able to add an instance of any component, but the variables are unresponsive. What am I missing here? I am new to my current company and they have a ton of libraries. Do I need to have edit access to those files in order to use the components fully?

Figma auto updated and now has a brand new layout. While I get the motivations and design thinking behind it, I simply don’t like anything about it. Two glaring pain points for me: I’d rather have the toolbar on top where it used to be, or at least have the option to anchor it to any edge of the screen. I’m working on 32" display, the bottom of the screen is quite far away form where my natural line of sight is. The floating surfaces that aren’t flush on the edge affectively create a “stroke” around as the canvas’s background peaks behind it. It adds a lot of visual noise and I find it terribly distracting and unpleasant. Figma team, please please please give us the option to config these behaviors

Searched community but didn’t find enough details about such issue. Today ready for dev description of changes is available as very small detail in history of document timeline. IMO it is not highlighted and accessible enough. Would be much better to treat it for each section/screen that was marked ready to dev as iteration note. This way each dev would have relevant description of changes at hand, before starting coding or checking updates which could be missed otherwise as history of the document is not pointing you in any particular direction. Anyone with similar issue? or maybe I am missing something?

As someone who has been a victim of the designs testing them, I cringe whenever I encounter it. Too many designers don’t know what they are doing and load it up with so much garbage (layers, etc.) it just stops working. Or takes forever to load and then crashes. Others apparently have not tested it. Others don’t provide passwords or correct URLs. Is it cheap or something? I’m blaming finance people who force Marketing to use it. When I see InVision (R.I.P at the end of the year, Axshare, and pretty much anything other than Figma, I make a huge sigh of relief.

Is there anyone who have thought about making a laser cutter plugin or also looking for one in Figma? It would need a few, but very helpful functions when you draw stuff for your laser cutter in Figma, and would help a lot, so you make less mistakes when cutting .

Hey everyone! First of all, I apologize for my English. I have some issues about doing toggle. I created a toggle and enabled the smart animate setting but it didn’t work. So i have two variants for toggle. The ellipse colors of the toggle in the off state and the on state are different and at the same time the ellipses have stroke. With this setting, the toggle behaves as if it’s set to instant or dissolve. If I make one of the toggles the same color as the other, this issue is resolved and smart animate works.Or, if I remove the stroke setting from one of them, smart animate works. Why might this be happening? Thanks for reading.

Running the Styles and Variables Organizer it shows there are multiple text styles in a component. These styles are not from our library as our design team wanted to use a community notes component. We took it in and stripped out any styles or color variables and assigned styles or applied no styles from our library. But on inspection using the Styles organizer plugin it says lists the styles (missing) from the original file. Any idea why and how to remove them as clicking on any element in the component does not show any link to these styles?

I may be alone with this, but I just need to share it. New Figma UI3 is beautiful, but claustrophobic in small screens. The new panels are cute, but my main focus when designing is the design itself. It feels like they are in the middle of the screen. It’s good that you can minimize the panels with a click, but you should also be able to stick them to the sides, making the space they occupy much smaller. That would mean more space to work with the same panel sizes. Just a tiny addition!! 🙏🏽

Hi guys, Thanks as always to this fantastic community, had some invaluable advice before and it’s really appreciated!! I’ve made a carousel, with pagination dots at the bottom and the biggest number of cards I need in it is 12. However sometimes I will need less, and so I’m wondering if I can use boolean properties to choose the number of slides in the component instance? It would also be great to be able to choose/link the pagination dots so that the corresponding value of slides needed, also removes excess pagination dots. I’m just in the process of building out the gallery in my website prototype using my first instance use of the component, and I’m trying to have to avoid making the same component 12 times: with 1 slide with 2 slides with 3 slides etc Any suggestions would be great here, as I’m having a block as to how best to approach it 🙂 Thank you

How to disable a paid subscription and get a refund? I turned it off. The first time I was charged $15, then $20, and now it’s $35 even though I turned off the subscription. I have shared a small project that is acting very buggy. I have a situation where I am triggering multiple (2) overlays, executing multiple overlay swaps and then at the end I am attempting to close the 2nd overlay and navigate to a new page. I’ve been using Figma’s REST API to grab the text content from specific nodes in my designs with the following endpoint: https://api.figma.com/v1/files/${fileKey}/nodes?ids=${nodeId} I would then be able to extract the actual text content from the characters key: response.data.nodes[nodeId].document.characters In dev mode, I could easily get the node-id from the URL while clicking around my design. However, I’ve noticed that for component instances, the children nodes have the same node-id as the parent, thus making it difficult to extract the exact text that I need. I’ve tried using the “Node Inspector” plugin to see the internal id but it gives me ids like "I5912:74596;5912:74456" which don’t work with the API endpoint. Does anyone know how I can achieve this?

How can I increase the time for Smart Animate in Figma beyond 10,000ms? The animations are still too fast even at this duration.

Hello Figma Community, I am new to the FIGMA and am currently stuck with an issue related to the FIGMA prototype. I either want to know how to pass the actual height of the node/frame in the FIGMA prototype through some events or how to get to know the exact height of the node/frame from the various events received from the FIGMA prototype events such as PRESENT_NODE_CHANGED etc. I don’t want to know the viewport height or width where my prototype is rendered but the actual FRAME/node height

Hi Team, I am Darshan Hiranandani, recently tested a new feature in FigJam that initially worked perfectly, allowing me to add new pages. However, when I revisited the file, I found that the “Add Page” button is missing from the menu, and I’m unable to right-click to duplicate the current page. It seems like it might be a bug, but I’m not sure if it’s an issue on my end or something more widespread. Could anyone provide suggestions or advice on how to resolve this issue?
