Lost edit access after becoming the owner (Starter Plan)

Hi, I'm a frontend developer using Figma.We’re facing an issue with file permissions: One of our designers originally created a file in their personal Drafts and then transferred ownership to me. I used to have “can edit” access, but after becoming the owner, I now see the following message: "This person's seat needs to be updated for them to be able to edit this file type." The Share button is also disabled, and I can no longer edit the file, even though I'm the owner. We’re currently on the Starter Plan, and since this is a company account, it's difficult for us to upgrade to a paid plan at the moment. What options do I have to resolve this situation without upgrading to a paid plan?Is it possible to transfer ownership back to the original designer or regain edit access in some other way? Some color variables will not publish

I have a design library with multiple color variable. I’ve published all colors for our local team to use in their design files and for the longest time, all color variables were available for use inside these design files. But recently (past month or so) some colors are not appearing inside the design files. As in, they do not make themselves present during a Fill, Stroke, nor Text color selection effort. I also noticed I’m unable to nudge these variable (change color, name, etc) in order to trip the library into including them for publishing. It’s as if they don’t exist—even though they do in the library. New Font Available Notification keeps popping up - how do I get rid of to

Everytime I leave Figma window to go to another window, I get this “New available font: Raleway” notifications. Why is this happening? How do i turn it off?

Hi, On right sidebar, Effect styles category, I see a storm icon between drop shadow icon. I only have drop shadows in my effect styles, can you explain me why I have a storm icon ?

Figma Sites text breakpoints always use mobile values on load

First of all, kudos to the Figma team for Sites, it’s an amazing product even in beta. I've been looking forward to Figma making this happen, an easy way to publish a website directly. I’ve been moving our website from Framer to Figma hoping to switch, however I encountered one issue: I have text styles with breakpoints for desktop, tablet and mobile. Everything looks good in the preview, however when I publish the site, styles use the values for the mobile breakpoints even on the desktop. Interestingly enough, if I resize the browser window to a smaller size and then back again, it works. So it looks like the first view is the one with the issue. At some point, I think it was working properly, but now this issue is back again. I can’t seem to see any correlations with anything else I’m doing. Anyone else experiencing something similar? Set auto layout to auto distribute horizontally

Hi, could someone please help me. I am unable to set auto layout to auto distribute horizontally. It only let’s me do so when I specify auto layout direction. I am extremely confused by the settings in general because the first Icon is labeled Freeform which converts the auto layout to a regular frame without any indications. The top right icon does the same only it’s highlighted in blue. I also couldn’t understand Grid Beta. This used to be so you can set auto layout bi-directionally ↩︎ it doesn’t seem to work in similar way but is rather building tool in somewhat of a separate category. Also, how often do you click Align or Grid boxes vs Vertical and Horizontal gap settings? It makes no sense! =\

`window.figma` is still unavailable on view-only pages

Figma removed window.figma from all pages in view-only mode on March 19, 2024. Shortly after, I shared a community post here, as well as on Hacker News and Twitter, which drew some attention. Figma responded both here and on Twitter, stating that the removal was unintentional and that they planned to restore the API “in the coming weeks.” Two weeks later, they revised the timeline, saying the fix would be rolled out “in the next few months.” But it’s now been 14 months, and window.figma is still unavailable. Figma has stopped responding to any follow-ups. As a Figma user, I find this level of disregard unacceptable. You made a clear public promise to the community, then quietly abandoned it. It’s hard not to suspect that the original response was just a stalling tactic to defuse backlash and buy time.

Figma Sites - Remain Live even after downgrading plan?

Hi, I’m wondering if any sites I publish with Figma Sites while on full seat will remain live online after I downgrade the plan. I’m assuming it will just not let me make any edits and publish new edits after downgrading, is that correct?

Annual plan - does unused seats get banked?

Hi We are are on professional Annual plan, 2 members went on Maternity leave, so If I downgrade them to view only, will I save the money from the 2 seats or is it lost forever unless I reassign them? Thanks in advance Andy

Figma sites -- Accessibility???

Watching the “Config 2025” sites looked interesting. About me i’m a tester, but watching other videos from some YouTubers, they got in and started showing the code generated for the browser. YUK YUK YUK! Or should i say <div><<div><div> It is nothing but a sea of <div>. Will be 100% unusable or an extreme pain in the (what we sit on), Not a minor pain but essentially as bad as one could ever make it, not to mention absolutely no semantic rules which any accessible site would be expected to have to make the site usable… Just seems you are effectively giving every accessible user a big middle finger… Might be i’m assuming too much but you all are away the sites you expect people will need to use will be as difficult as you can make it.

Font weight variables are not working properly

This is a recent issue with my design system, the font weight changing back to regular when the variables were set to Heavy, but when I try to edit the text, it jump back to Heavy, but it will changing back to regular when I come back to the page next day. anyone facing the same issue? it works fine before. when I not touching it When I editing the text

Figma keeps reloading

Since the latest update, Figma keeps reloading unexpectedly. Whether I’m zooming in, adding a new image, or doing anything else, it randomly reloads, shows a black screen, and then reloads the file.

File Memory and Preferred Values instance swapping

TL;DR I want to know if anyone has explored using “Preferred Values” instance swapping as opposed to large Component Sets as a way to improve memory performance in both the Library and downstream project Figma Files. I have a Library file with very complex components for charts in the UI. The components allow other designers to deeply configure a chart, and every aspect has nested variants for controls to be used in downstream project files. Each chart has many nested instances for controlling aspects such as the axis labels, number of columns and rows, the marks, count of series to be presented, and the legend, and the state of the data. A single nested instance could contain hundreds of variants, as many as 5 tiers deep. For example, a Trend Line instance can be configured with Variants for line style, which series it is, how many columns are in the data field, and the type of data. This instance is set within a chart with other sibling instances, and higher tier interaction patterns

Cannot reset embedded prototype in slide presentation mode (!)

Hello Fellow Figmers, I am giving a presentation where I have a few slide on a Figma Slides deck for a group presentation. Part of my prototype requires me to reset the prototype during the presentation to go through several flows from the same start point. It appears in online explainers that it is simply pressing “r” (which is my go to if im presenting a prototype the non-slides way, and in that scenario it works fine!). No go! it doesn’t work! I press “r” while on the slide with the prototype (i am using Macbook Air as the overlay option) and it utterly doesnt work. For some dumb reason, if I hit R enough times (like 3 times?) it DOES reset the whole PRESENTATION (not desired effect!!!). to not be able to reset an embedded prototype in a presentation seems like a big miss and I hope theres some way you folks may know of to get around this issue? I may have to make a hidden square on each prototype frame to bring the prototype back to first frame… but I really shouldnt have to do thi

Auto Layout controls not showing in Desktop app after UI3 update?

After the recent UI3 update, the Auto Layout controls (direction, spacing, padding, etc.) don’t appear in the right sidebar in the Desktop version of Figma — even though Auto Layout is applied. Everything works fine in the browser version. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Center of Rotation

I do not know how, but in Figma, I got this point using which I was able to set the center of rotation. Last time, I saw this in Sketch, but this popped up today. I was surprised. But then, the moment I duplicated the ear vector, this was gone. I do not know how I triggered it. Tried lots of things and searched all around. Couldn’t find a shortcut or a trigger using which I could enable this.
