There is currently no way to see the current page in the Figma UI when the Pages section is collapsed. When you have a lot of pages and/or you have similar pages this gets confusing. Keeping the whole Pages section open is often a waste of valuable vertical space. Space that’s very useful for the Layers section. Maybe Figma can show the current page name somewhere in the UI? Maybe above the current file name? Or somehow in the Pages section? (not the prettiest solution)
Our development team (who only have view and devmode access) have complained that when trying to inspect components with complex interactions (ie: interactions buried inside layers), they simply have no idea the interactions exist without the designer placing myriads of comments or writing documentation to explicitly illustrate this which entirely defeats the purpose of devmode. I agree with the team that this is counter-intuitive and there should be a better visual indication of where a developer needs to inspect in order to see these interactions. At this point in time only a user with edit access can actually see the interaction pathways visually, and that’s simply not good enough.
It would be super nice to be able to manage and apply by default custom FigJam color palettes. The same way we can now manage Libraries and Fonts on an organisation level (admin panel). It’s possible to set a custom palette on a team level, but why not on an organization level?
I have created a product development page. I want to invite the entire team and all employees of the entire company to this page in order to make a huge complete roadmap of all the tasks for the company that will have to be done over the next few years. since all employees must be on the page, it is necessary to be able to configure access rights for each piece of information on the same page.
I would like to be able to configure a short cut to be able to navigate through the tabs “All” “Assets” or “Plugins & Widgets”. Massive cognitive load on remembering which plugins are installed or to find them again. Minimum requirement would be to have a “filter: Installed plugins”.
Use case: I have POs with view access account and devs with dev mode accounts and none of then can see integrations without actually entering presentation mode and clicking through. It is time consuming and even this can be unambiguous, and lead to errors. There should be a mode to see interaction lines without going to presentation mode.
This would be really helpful to be open to guest collaborators. We are on a professional plan and have tried to use Figma for brainstorming sessions or workshops that involve outside collaborators - these collaborators only need access to one file for a limited amount of time, and currently with both FigJam and Figma it’s not possible to do so without adding another editor. We’ve had great feedback from those that we have done sessions with and we would love to have some possibility of adding guest passes for outside collaborators that allow them to view and edit a file, without needing to add them as an editor and allow them to access other project files and such.
Very often i find myself recording my screen to add a preview of my interactions in presentations. If an image is worth more than a thousand words, a video lasting 1 second is 24.000 words.
We have components where we update the copy to be specific to a certain design. When we implement library updates that are style changes (i.e. change in color or font size), some but not all of the copy gets reset to the default. This is super annoying and also inefficient as we have to go back and edit files every time we update our library styles.
In the latest update, it took me a while looking for the “go to main component” command which was in this menu. Magically i found out that it is hidden under the library name lol. I have heard in the last ConFig 2024, you guys told that you redesign things not to let user waste time look for hidden buttons that would show while hovering. You may have made the UI clean, but it is way toooooooo confusing. I am thinking you skip UX while design this UI3, or you were giving this to some intern to be in charge. I believe most of designers hate UI3 as I hate it. I suggest to bring back the component menu in toolbar.
On the left panel, when the pages section is collapsed there is no clue on which page you are. I liked how you had the name of the page in the old UI on the top right of the panel and looked like a dropdown to open it again. Can you add the name somewhere when is it collapsed?
Hey There, Small find, but still creating friction. When you press the K key for scaling, the focus – like before – starts on the scale option (1x, 2x, etc.). But when you hit the Tab key, it jumps to the next menu instead of going to width and height as it used to. This means you have to manually select the fields with the mouse every time. The solution could be to have the focus start on the first field (which is now width) when pressing K, so you can easily tab through to the fields you need. New UI: Old UI:
When I’m prototyping, I often make copies, delete pages, etc. This means that I end up with prototype points that are automatically create click = none. This then means that when I drag to make new points, I accidentally make many drag interactions because it assumes that if click = none, then the next interaction i want is drag. Often I find out I’ve made mistakes by hitting play, seeing the interaction target turn blue, but tapping not working and me realizing i made drag points. Then I go back, investigate where it assumed I wanted drag, and replace it with click by removing drag and click in the right panel. Retapping the circle plus and dragging it to a new frame. (I don’t use the dropdown and find the frame). Two potential fixes: if click = none by goal is to replace it because click isn’t being used. if an end point frame is removed, remove click interaction entirely. Anyone else make drag interactions by accident? Would these potential fixes hurt other people’s workflows?
The use of Gaussian blur effect for pop-up controls is a common design standard for almost all operating systems. Adding Gaussian blur to the context menu will make the overall UI more harmonious and consistent with the operating system.
Currently it is a bit annoying when you have multiple variables reference each other. When editing code you usually can ctrl / cmd click to get to the definition of a variable or function. It would be nice if this was also possible in the variable panel in Figma
After discussion with stakeholders in the file, there are many comment threads. Some of them are soloved, some of them are not important, some of them will be bring to next sync/meeting. While with many points to be discussed, is that possible to convert the thread status to another status like “to be discussed in the meeting” to make some of them more prominent?
Canonical Component Library for Splitting All-In-One Files Problem: When starting with a single, comprehensive Figma file that contains both design elements and components (such as Design WIP Page, Component Library Page, and Design System Page, etc etc), duplicating this file and organising it into multiple files results in each file referencing its own local component library. This creates a significant challenge in maintaining a single source of truth for components across different files, as every new file duplicates the components locally rather than referencing a central library. Proposed Solution: Introduce a feature in Figma that allows users to easily duplicate an “all-in-one” type master files, and then split it into multiple files (Design WIP file, Component Library file, Design System file, etc.), with the ability to set one of these files as the canonical component library. The duplicated files would automatically update to reference the components from the selected master
I just started using UI3. One bug I’ve noticed is that if I create a new component, then press shift + i to insert it, it doesn’t show up in the list. If I quit and reopen Figma it shows up then
In the new autolayout, you can use absolute numbers for padding. However, it would be really beneficial to be able to use percentages sometimes instead. I can see there have been previous posts about this but they are closed, therefore I cannot vote for them.
I think it should show up inside the panel as all other props show up embedded. Idk why colour has a different treatment. Not gonna lie having it popped out is super useful but I think it should be an option not a default action. I also mocked up a screen how it should be ps; i have noticed the blue bar showing the loc of highlighted item when I was mocking this image - loved the idea and implementation, mwah 👨‍🍳👌
It would be amazing if there was an advanced clipping option that would allow designers to choose what edges clipped content and what edges let content run over it. I am working on complex enterprise software where I have dropdown menus with menu items with hover states as well as icon buttons in the menu items with their own hover states. And on top of that I need to show tooltips on some of the icon buttons and allow clicking to open a new modal. (There is a lot going on) We have workarounds for the overlay tooltip but the issue we’re running into is everything is in a scrollable container and that requires clipping to look decent. It would be nice to decide what edges get clipped. In our scenario we need clipping at the top and bottom of the scrollable container but the left and right don’t need it so that absolute positioned items can spill outside of the scrollable container.
Hi Figma Team, I use version history quite often. It would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut to bring it up in the right-hand panel. I really like what you’ve done giving a shortcut for saving a current version, but it doesn’t give me the option to go into the “view history” mode. And I need that to copy the link from the version I just saved to the appropriate ticket in Jira. Thank you, Ksenia
When inspecting/viewing a design, I’d like my devs to be able to see what collection a variable comes from, and the mode it is in. Currently, when a frame has a mode applied, the viewer can see a mode label in the properties panel, but only when that frame is selected. If they are inspecting an element within that frame that is inheriting the mode, there is no way to show that it is. As for the collection name, its not referenced at all. When we create variables/tokens, we have to repeat the name of the collection in the name of the variable for it to surface and be useful to the devs inspecting the design.
