I’ve been using the wrap function in auto-layout since it came out last June. It has helped me a lot, however there are some options I would like to see being added; being able to change the direction of the rows when using auto layout wrap. For example: I’m working on a tile which displays a set of indicator on the bottom. The tile is able to show a max of 4 indicators in one row. When using wrap and showing 6 indicators, the first row shows 4 indicators and the second row shows 2. What I would like to see is an option to change the direction of the rows. Changing the direction would result in showing 2 indicators in the top row and 4 in the bottom row, instead of the other way around. The same principle should be able for columns created by auto layout wrap. This might be interesting for cultures who read right to left. [edit: i just found out wrapping is only horizontal, which means it can only create rows, not columns] I’m sure i’m not the first person who thought of the idea, but
I would like the option to deselect the selection of another user. Too often others viewing a file will select something and never deselect it until they eventually close Figma. It would be nice to remove their selection from an object, so I won’t have to look at the highlight of the selection they have made.
I loved the new button to minimize tool bar, makes total sense! 🙂 But can’t see the need of having a floating toolbar. Feel it steals space from the center with no need and also looks visually confusing 😕 Right toolbar’s spacing arrangement is also feeling overwhelming. Overall i like the new UI, but just suggesting some adjustments 🙂
When design and content has been reviewed the next stage is localisation. It requires labelling every component with copy and it becomes quite crowded. But if there was a feature like the dev mode toggle allowing the localisation team to translate and put phrase keys in it saves a lot of time duplicating work.
In the previous version of Figma there was an option to mark multiple objects as ready for dev. After selecting objects option was available at the top bar. With the new UI this option is gone (or I cannot find it) and you have to press „Ready for dev” for every single selection. Can we bring this option back?
The preview of component descriptions on the right panel is missing the option to click on hyperlinks or any other formatting. This feature is crucial for the Design System approach. It allows designers to seamlessly access our documentation when working with components, eliminating the need to open DevMode to view related links.
Each task comes with its own notes and documents, whether from Asana or elsewhere. I copy these notes to the canvas every time as if they will be used in the design, but as the design grows in the canvas, where I put these notes becomes a mystery. If each page had its own simple note-taking place that could be accessed from the top bar, I could easily see the information or instructions that come with each task in large projects.
I am generally liking the UI3 update, but am finding it a little annoying when the panels are both closed, but then the right panel opens over something I just clicked on. Scenario: Panels are closed, so I have a larger space to work. I see a button over to the right side of my screen that I need to edit. I click into the button to select a layer, but the right panel pops over it and suddenly I’m clicking on auto-layout options. I like being able to close the panels and use more of my design, but it defeats the purpose if I can’t easily interact with everything I see. When the panel opens over something I’m working with, I have to stop, reposition my design, and then start again. Either keep the right panel open all the time, or let me manually open and close them.
I am struggling with the scroll bar in Figma when trying to move up and down the page when zoomed in. With the new layout, it is behind the tools on the right and I keep clicking other stuff instead of the scroll bar and it is so far over it took me a while to find it. I think it should be on the other side of the right toolbox for easier use and locating it. Also having the Text, mouse, frame, etc. tools on the bottom is throwing me off. Everyone else has it on the tool, so having it on the bottom is a brain tease and annoying to me.
is there a way to quick update variables from library? I only want to update variables but not component.
Hi All, My feature request: generate editable UI layouts from URL (website) or convert website URL into Figma UI layout. This will save so much time for the designer! We alreay know how to convert Figma layout into html. So, ca we do the opposite? Figma design from URL. Yes, I know about the plugin from @mutraf But it doesn’t work well enough https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1306523217067838054/amourm-website-url-to-design-ui-ux-library-ai-design-generator-ui-ux-library-kit. I pray that someday Figma will make it its native feature.
Allow designers to set one frame/section as the default focus so that when a stakeholder like PM/Engineer randomly opens a page in Figma project, they can see the right things designers want them to look at. A lot of times, stakeholders get to the right frames/sections when links with frames are shared. But then they often navigate to different parts of the file and it is difficult for them to see where to look at in a page. Maybe page level thumbnail capability instead of per file?
It would be great if the tool could automatically tell me if I have any layers that I don’t really need to have (or even just give me an option to check for them). Especially when I’m working with a component or starting from a previous design, I often end up with “extra” layers that aren’t doing anything except cluttering my file. They don’t have any backgrounds, strokes, or spacing applied, and there is usually already another layer that is maintaining the auto layout or grouping needed. Trying to go through and clean them up on my own takes a bit of time, and many users often don’t even bother. It can then lead to issues finding the correct layer to adjust an auto-layout or remove a style.
Hi - When prototyping - I would expect to see a mode switch individual components not the global container: for example: I use Default (no hover) and Hover for Modes - which effects the colors of the text, bg, etc When I go to create my prototype and I select Hover - set variable mode to: Hover I expect when I hover over each individual to turn off or on when I hover over them specifically (one at a time) but currently this looks at the whole side rail container and hovers them on all togher
Currently, the inspect panel for view-only files only shows the variable name on assigned properties, not the actual value. Without any reference to the variables and their values, this makes it useless for devs that just need simple access for measurements. I understand the push for Dev Mode, but you should hide actual values behind a paywall. At the very least it should default to the value, or show the value alongside the variable.
I have the latest version of Figma running on my Intel Macbook OS14.6.1. I created a brand new Slide Deck “from scratch,” (which actually uses the “Light Slides” template by Figma) and, when Design mode is active, nothing happens if I click on the “New style or variable” plus icon button. I am also not able to change the names of color variables, or modify the existing color variables. I can only add Theme/Template (inconsistent naming) colors when NOT in design mode. I guessing this is a limitation of the current Beta version. So for those having similar issues, the only way to change “variables,” which are actually Theme/Template colors, is to turn off design mode and adjust the colors there, but these colors cannot be named. Furthermore, the only way to modify a Theme/Template color (the only way to access the tiny circular color modification icon button) is to have an object with that color selected, which results in changing the color of whatever object is selected just to modify
Not long ago, Figma introduced a major change to how drafts are managed. Now, there’s a distinct draft folder for each team you’re part of, accessible via a dropdown instead of being always visible. Updates to how drafts work Issue: When creating new drafts, it’s unclear where they’re saved—there’s no breadcrumb or clear indication, especially when starting a draft outside the Figma homepage. It seems that drafts are placed in the team space currently active in the dropdown, or from which your open tab is associated. This often leads to drafts being mixed up, and I’ve had trouble locating them. In one case, I added an editor without realizing the draft was saved in a customer’s team space, which caused them to be added to the client’s payroll instead of mine. The breadcrumb in the file header only shows “Draft > …”, which doesn’t help. Proposed Solution: Including the Team Space in the file breadcrumb would clarify which space you’re working in, whether it’s a new draft or an existi
As you can see, when I open the prop “Variant” to see the available values, I can see very little of the actual text. So, as in this case, I can’t distinguish between the last two options: ‘Expand (hug)’ and ‘Expand (fixed)’ It would be great if the width of this dropdown could be just a little wider (or even dynamically hug the content) Thanks!
I usually work together with my PM on projects. They are not designers and they use Figma to gather feedback from the clients, it is very annoying that they are not able to mark the client’s comments as “resolved” simply because they’re viewers. I understand that it could be seen as a risk that a viewer could potentially delete other people’s comments, but here we’re just talking about resolving, which doesn’t delete the comment. Is this a feature that could be added for viewers? It’s a bit extreme to pay a full design seat just to be able to resolve comments imo
Hi all, is it possible to bulk apply ready for dev at all? On one of my massive projects it would be great to select several frames and set them as ready, rather than one at a time.
Please improve the search feature. It’s hard to find than before. Even if I know and choose a category, I cannot input a keyword to search for.
Instead of instantly changing all component instances accross the files and lagging when changing the component itself, it would be great if changes would start to change only after mouse or keyboard interaction. In this way, component editing would not be so slow (if it’s used a lot of times across the files).
We probably all have a huge amount of plugins and resources saved in the “saved” section of our profile. Being able to create lists to organize this section would be a luxury and a pleasure to the eye.
It would be handy to be able to see the amount of new comments that each file has in its thumbnail because it’s usually the first thing I see when I open Figma and we work a lot using the comments. The notification panel is fine, but this I think would be a nice addition.
I hope to be able to support centimeter units and import/export CDR and AI files…
