Hi I am new to Figma. Just noticed that when I have created a new component the name does not appear on the box as I see in tutorials? I usually rename in the layers panel but would be nice to have that as another option. I am not sure whether this is something that can be adjusted in preferences? Or perhaps this is a new update of Figma that has removed this? In tutorials What I see

I designed screens and created an animated prototype. I handed it off to the developers, with the impression that they would be able to see the interaction properties in the inspect panel to know how to animate the components, since I can see it there. I found out that lo and behold they CAN’T see the interaction properties in inspect. Why is this? Is there any better solution than having to separately giving them the animation properties?

Knowing the file size before fetching the content can drastically improve the user experience and save bandwidth. Image urls returned from the /api/image endpoint don’t allow HEAD requests. Maybe this is a feature request but whenever I see Unread (X) at the top I keep tapping it thinking it’ll filter to just unread comments. 😀 I don’t need search or any advanced filtering. The use case is that when I’m on the go and see a reply to comment, I sometimes have to scroll down to try and find it. In other cases, I’ll miss reading an older comment for some reason and then try to find it later on mobile. Alternatively, if you just put all the unreads at the top, then I don’t even need a button. Hello Community, The new update of fimga has messed up giving up CSS rules for shape (rectangle) having background blur. It just shows multiple color listing. @Figma_Support can you please look into this? Kind Regards, Divy

In my current design I have a textbox that I want to be used to write a review for something. I have been figuring out constraints and dynamic resizing so the UI can be visible from different phone screen sizes, however while I believe I now understand dynamically stretching the elements in an auto layout, shrinking them isn’t behaving as I’d like. I have a fairly large text box that when I expand the frame size, expands too, which is what I’m after. But when I shrink the frame, it keeps on shrinking to the point where it just disappears. Ideally, I’d like it so that the textbox stops shrinking once the frame gets to a certain size, but at the moment it keeps shrinking. As I’m still figuring things out, what can I do to stop this element from shrinking too small when the outside frame is resized?

Expected behavior: Text does not shift position when I change the color of some of the text. Behavior: Changing the color of some text will remove the kerning pairs between that text and any adjacent text with a different color. This leads to shifts in the text layout when switching between two frames with different color treatment, not to mention less readability.

I have several libraries I included in my Figma file. When I go to “Assets” tab and when I search a component, if there are results, library filter is visible. If asset is not found I get a message “No results for…” and library filter dissapears.

I’m having trouble setting a component that changes the state of its parent. I have done this flux: Create component A with default and hover variant Create component B with two variants (dropdown closed and open) Add component A as a child of component B. Add an On click → Change to interaction to the instance of component A. The two variants of component B will show up as options under the variant drop-down; you can open the drop-down, but you cannot select any variant besides the one that is already selected Is this a bug of Figma? Or is my fault?

Hello everyone, I’ve been using Figma for a bit over a month now. Can someone explain me why can’t I copy text from our existing website (I’m just doing redesigning) to Figma. Or from word or any other program. It feels annoying to type everything on my own, im sure there is a way to do it. Thanks for your patience with my noobishness.

I need to add an Asterisk in the text input component, but its text area is a variant, so I go to its component which is in another Figma file. I go to the text area’s component (via “Go to main component” to make sure I’m in the right place), make changes, publish them successfully, then go back to the needed file and push the Update, it seems successful as it’s not in the Updates list anymore but I still cannot see the actual update in the needed file. Everything is still connected, all updates were pushed and accepted correctly, what am I doing wrong?

Hi Figma community, I’ve created an auto layout frame and I’m wondering if it’s possible to have individually different horizontal gas between items. I want different gaps between items instead of one consistent gap. In this example I want the “Optional” to be on the left hand side and I want the three rectangles to be closer to the right side of the box but I don’t want all the space between the rectangles.

When we assign a text style to a text frame, we lose access to the “details” tab. Therefore, if the text frame is not updated with the new text rendering method (update from last year if I remember correctly), assigning text style (that has this update accepted) doesn’t inherit the update. As we don’t have access to details after assigning the style we cannot accept the update otherwise than detaching style, updating, and reassigning style. I am running into BUG when applying paragraph spacing to a type style. For some reason it’s not picking up the value that was set in the style. Only when I break the link to the style it picks up the proper Paragraph Spacing values that was set in the style. I have try deleting and re-creating the type style but the problem it’s still happens. Also seeing it happing with any other document that was Type Styles. Is there a way to fix this issue?

I am trying to make a component for a bottom navigation bar, but when I attempt to prototype any of the tabs and select the “Change to” interaction, there is simply no dropdown to select a variant of the component to change to. I’ve provided a screenshot below. This is a bit time sensitive, so help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I just discovered that the “line object” on Figma is always 1/2 pixel off. No matter how you adjust the stroke to be in the center, inside or outside. Is there a way to make it become a full pixel? I want to create a line object and make it into component. However, the outline of the component will never wrap the line object to its edge but always 1/2 pixel inlined. Here is what it looks like: Thank you!

I’ve started looking into Dev Mode in Figma. While I am liking the features so far, I can’t find a way to view more than the first page of a multi-page document within VS Code. Is there a button I’m not seeing, or is there another way folks set up “multi-page” style documents for VS Code to see each “page” We typically design using pages to separate workflows, or to group multiple screens together. Sometimes as many as 1 or 2 dozen screen groups. If we do decide to work with Dev Mode more, especially with VS Code, this “multi-page” grouping strategy will be a must. I appreciate the help and advice!

I got my education plan and when I am trying to upload a video, it’s showing “Invalid video was removed” again and again. I tried other videos and used different devices also it’s showing the same problem. Please help me with this problem

Hey folks, I’ve very recently run into this issue. I have some font styles that are stored in a published library. From another file that consumes the library, I can’t select the font style at all. ✅ Figma is up-to-date ✅ Library has no updates to publish and file consuming library has all the latest updates ✅ I’ve restarted and closed and re-opened both files ❎ I haven’t unpusblished/republished yet (not keen to really!) In my video, I’m actually clicking on “App/14” and Figma isn’t responding to it. Changing to a local style seems to work fine. Video of the issue: https://file.io/xdHcC7zmv1MW

I logged into Figma today through the browser and everything is really zoomed in and I cant get it back to default size. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, I take example with this frame with blue fill. Both horizontal and vertical resizing are set to “hug”, and it has a 4px yellow stroke. After exporting to PDF, the outside stroke is displayed as an inside stroke, while PNG export displays correctly.
