my name is Ariana, UI/UX designer amateur for now but in future we will se what is going to happen 🙂 I have noticed this problem recently.
When I export layers to PNG or JPG actually UI design to share on social networks, quality changes. On my Mac quality of image is good but when I share it for example on Instagram, it gets worse. It is blurry and bad quality.
My question is how to keep good quality of image and share it on social networks?
Thank you for any answers

Flagging for a needed realistic fix for multimedia design teams looking to use Figma as a resource moving forward.
Experiencing this as well. Our agency uses Figma for collaborative design for social media content, and we’re all seeing a deterioration in JPEG exports of single photos in post sized frames vs. the same export and sizing in Photoshop/Illustrator artboards. This has really messed our workflow and I’ve been an enormous Figma advocate at the agency.
the problem still here, and i’m still counting days till figma team fixed it.
I’m facing the same issues. And I tried all the suggestions here (exporting in 2x, 4x, etc) and also tried to export as pdf and then convert into png, it still reduces the sizes.
When I upload my assets on social media platforms, the edges are still blurred and not crisp as seen on figma.
Its frustrating that this has been an issue since more than one and a half year and it still hasn’t been fixed yet :///
I am in the same boat. Just really poor quality on export - especially PNG (regardless of the x2,x3,x4 etc)
Unsure if this issue is still being looked at considering the OG poster claims it as a “solution”
This continues to be an issue for me.
This is an issue for me as well
This is not a bug (in most cases), you are just expecting the wrong results. See this reply and my replies in this topic.
And:
Don’t just say “this is an issue”, nobody can help you if that’s the only info you provide.
Here is a workaround for when even when exporting 2x or more does not work. Hope it helps
This is untrue (The expecting wrong results part), when creating a 1 on 1 same image in photoshop and exporting at a png at the same settings (DPI and resolution), the Figma export is lower in quality. I get that a lot of people don’t understand the 2x/4x just inflates the image, but this isn’t what you can use in a lot of specific cases. It probably is not a bug, but the export from Figma to png is not a great tool. Otherwise you would not see users talking about recreating it in PSD under the same circumstances for better results.
This issue has NOT been solved, but it’s NOT a bug. The export to PNG needs to be improved to decrease quality loss.
Do you have any examples? Including the source files and the export settings both in Figma and Photoshop and the results. PNG is a lossless format so should be pretty easy to compare.
Hi, I solved it by dividing each image into different smaller images.
Regards!
Yikes for the condescending tone in your replies.
Figma is supposed to be used by a wide range of people in a team w/ different levels of tech understanding. People that, mind you, have workflows in other software that “just work”. If they don’t need to understand DPI / raster sizes deeply when using other tools, why shift the blame onto them? Figma should help bridge the knowledge gap and be intuitive with its exports.
Figma also just works. If you do the same stuff in photoshop or illustrator, you would get the same results. But also yes, there is definitely room for improvement. I can’t fix Figma though, I can only say reasons why people are not getting the results they are expecting.
We use Figma in our 700ppl company marketing materials - creating banners and whatnot everyday. Having this problem exporting stuff and Figma destroying the quality of our images forces us to use other tools. I would really really love to use Figma but unless this is fixed - we will have to. think about something else.
Please Figma fix your export! Add the possibility to edit the exporting quality options!
Also,
exporting 2x is not a solution - since it’s STILL bad quality + also need to decrease the size since we actually need the picture the size they have made at the first time.
Exporting the first .pdf and then saving it to .png is just time-consuming - our team does not have time to export 100 times .pdf and then individually save them to .png - That’s crazy!
I’ve noticed the amount of artwork in the project changes the actual quality of the export; the same frame is exported as a 84kb png in one project and as a 121kb png in another one. Does anybody have an explanation for this weird behaviour? The heavier one has of course less compression and a higher quality
Quick add-on, i’ve also noticed that exporting multiple files in bulk lowers the file size and the quality of the exports
So… after 2.5 years still no resolution for this issue? Or did someone find a good workaround?
Here are an example of how Figma makes the image in lower resolution. It doesn’t matter how many x times you export the image after you inport it. It’s already destroyed the moment you inport the image. Other programs uses thumbnails for the image when you view it and store the original image for when you export it.
