desktop.figma.com is down and I’m unable to download the desktop app, using the browser app is quite slow. Are there any other trusted sources for the installer? Please advice.

Thanks for the reply! After more thinkering, I found out that it had something to do with my browsers. After creating a new profile in FireFox, I was able to download the setup file.
