This is the first time I’m running into this issue and I think it has something to do with the fact that I have an Instance Swap property applied to the nested component. I’ve done this with “normal” nested components without an instance swap property with no issues. Here’s the problem: I have a main component called “banner” with 6 variants (3 color variations, with desktop and mobile sizes). The text is a nested component called “.bannerContent”, which also has 6 variants (3 color variations, with desktop and mobile sizes).For the 3 color variations, the background colors are set up with variables, and the variations are Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. And same with the .bannerContent component - the text has 3 color options: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary. I have no problem changing the background color for each banner variant, however once I pick a .bannerContent variant, it applies that to ALL banner variants. Hello community, Me and my team are new to working with branches and we are working on improving how our styles are organized in our design system file. I am wondering about how Figma behaves when styles are reorganized in a branch and then the branch is merged into the main branch. Many of our styles have variables encapsulated within some of their parameters. We are also going to find out how Figma behaves with that kind of situation.  So, can a branch file's styles organization changes be merged into a main branch? If anyone has had experience with doing this and is willing to share some of their experience that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and help.

Our Sketch license expires next month and I need to upload copies of all our Sketch files to Figma as we transition over and sketch runs out. We need backup copies of that work. However, recently while importing the Sketch files into Figma, I have noticed that the files are not rendering as they should, with fonts and containers going haywire and looking like a complete mess. Initially I will upload a file and it will load up without fonts, and Figma will say that there are ‘missing fonts’ - I then add the missing fonts like for like, and the fonts appear all over the place - not fitting in containers and spilling out everywhere looking all jumbled up. Also, some of the components look a bit messy too (wrong colours, broken elements etc).When I first tried the import 6 months ago it worked fine - no problems? Now they seem broken when newly uploaded. Is there a way to fix this?

When setting a video as a background of a frame in Figma Sites and checking the “Mute” toggle, the HTML video tag does not have the muted property.My goal is to autoplay the video. Autoplay works in some browsers (even though the “muted” property is not on the video tag), but in others (such as mobile Safari), the muted property (and others that are sometimes required, such as playsinline and webkit-playsinline) are not included in the HTML.Without the required properties, the Autoplay toggle is useless when the Figma Site is viewed in some browsers. 

While testing the addition of responsive behavior in Dev Mode Focus, I noticed that it breaks the min/max variables set with a specific variable mode. As a result, the artboard becomes locked to the initial size defined by that variable mode, preventing any further size adjustments. When exiting Focus Mode and inspecting the artboard, the variable appears to be detached, something that should not be possible when interacting with designs in Dev Mode.

Hey, I am using a custom font in my webpages. I can see the font in the preview but when I published it the font changed to some other font. Is there any fix for this? Thank you!

 The whole “Panels” sub menu under “View” is sometimes not available. When it happens the Panels menu is not available at all.  I encountered a problem when I created a sign-up button on the sign-up page of my mockup. However, when I set the padding to 16, it didn't detach from the screen.I set it to fill content.It's a frame to which I added text.I set it to auto-layout. 

As a new user I get a pop up asking if I want to take a quick tour of the file browser. When I click yes, another pop up shows up saying that it is 1 out of 6. When I click next nothing else happens and the pop up disappears. I tried this on Edge and Firefox and got the same results.

Hi everyone,I’m looking for urgent advice. Two days ago (Aug 12), I accidentally permanently deleted my Figma workspace (I was the sole member). This action also deleted a critical project file I had been working on for dozens of hours.I contacted Figma Support less than 10 minutes after the deletion with all details (file name, URL, deletion time, screenshots) and asked if it could be restored from backups. I also paused all activity in my account (including drafts) to avoid polluting logs or backups.I understand this kind of restoration is not standard, but I’ve read that it can sometimes be possible if reported quickly. The backup window might soon close, so I’m hoping to get advice from the community:Has anyone successfully had a file restored after a permanent workspace deletion? Hi, dear community!After the recent update, I've come across an issue with styles in dev mode (macos app / chrome or arc figma website). Right now, I can’t copy a single line from the styles block — I can only copy all of them using the button. I am consistently facing problems where I give very specific and detailed prompts, yet the tool delivers no result or a completely incorrect one.For example, I recently tried to generate a chart with a specific color palette. Even after explicitly providing colors and percentages, the AI failed to render the chart correctly, producing a black-and-white image instead. This issue makes it difficult to rely on the tool for what should be simple design tasks. I’ve been stuck on a prototyping issue and wondering if I could get some help. I have a “Share” dialog box with multiple tabs, and I want to keep a consistent background frame while switching between tabs and showing dropdowns.Right now, each dialog state is a separate instance outside the frame, which keeps things organized — but duplicating the background frame across all 16 states is making the file unnecessarily heavy.Is there a smart way to animate or switch between these dialog box states while maintaining a single, unified background frame? I can see a Material font in my Figma app by default, but it doesn’t see to be the variable font version. I downloaded and installed the variable font version of the Google Material Icon, but I can’t seem to get it on the Figma app.I don’t see any controls to modify the weight, grade and optical size of the font in the Typography details or variable section.How do I get the variable font version of Google Material Icon in Figma?

Hello, I’m might not the only one trough this, but gradients from 100% to 0% opacity are incorrect from a color to another. It doesn’t behave like a web browser and it can be confusing. Here is an example roughly pasted from dev mode.

Hey, this topic is already a running issue for years but suddenly the work around is not working anymore.For context: My team has to do a lot of reskins of specific features. Formerly we copy and pasted whole pages into a new file which kept the components and more importantly the instances in the mockups linked to the components below (Export area). The page components have imbedded instances form master components on a separate page in case we want to batch change them.If we use the copy paste method now it creates only instances in the “Export” area. The instances in the mockups still link to the copied page. This basically brakes our whole workflow.I tried plugins but they only copy/past single components - I need the whole page structure intact.The only thing I can think of right now is having the master component page as library and create a new file for every reskin. But this is so much extra effort with changing the current structure and also contradicts our whole Figma project
