I often have to use colors outside of Figma. At the moment, if those colors are variables, I have to detach it to select and copy the hex code and re-apply the variable. I think it would be a nice feature to be able to copy the color of that element without having to detach and re-attach the variable.
I manage a large-scale multi-brand design system The setup is pretty large - albeit standard IMHO 1000+ text styles - where all text style properties are variable-based. Duplicating styles individually/manually is straightforward, however, at this scale, it is prohibitive. There are a few methods (cut/paste to another file) and plugins to help workflow in duplicating text styles without variables, but they don’t support/maintain variables. Any thoughts on how to do this with Variable-based text styles? Use case: We already have 3 font variables per brand: “Body”, “Brand”, “Marketing”. We want to add a “Serif” font (in variables) for each brand, by cloning (for example) the “Brand” version/tree of the text styles across all sizes/styles and applying “Serif” font variables. Any thoughts/help appreciated. Thanks. Pierre For anyone wondering about the sanity/validity of 1000+ text styles, I’d love to hear how to address the following requirements without such an approach. Architecture of t
I created this tooltip box (union of a rectangle and triangle). It’s set so that the text width adjusts according to the width of the tooltip box. I also want the size of the box to be adjustable, but am coming across 2 issues: Box height isn’t changing to accommodate the text line number increasing Triangle pointer doesn’t maintain same width I’m not sure what settings are needed to fix this. This is what I have currently: Autolayout of whole component. The text itself is set to fill/hug.
I have a bunch of icon components, all locked at 24x24 aspect ratio (1:1). I am trying to create an easy-to-use icon component, and one option I was trying to make involved using the lock aspect ratio feature recently released, and creating ‘icon size’ variables. This would allow our designers to be able to replace icons easily in their files while also not wrapping the icon in a variant set of icon wrappers at different sizes. There's other reasons to try it this way, as it's the least destructive to the files that already contain instances of icons dropped in them already, but we don’t need to go into that. My issue starts be applying my new icon size variable to the H or W of the icon components. I set the lock aspect ratio to on, and give the H or W (I can only do one, which makes sense I guess) the correct sized variable in the master component. The ‘vector’ inside (which is the glyph) is set to scale-scale. When I place an instance of that icon, I can apply a new size from my ico
The issue was already raised on July 20th here: https://forum.figma.com/t/missing-css-properties-for-variable-fonts-in-dev-mode/48849 The original topic has been closed, but the issue still persists. This is very important for our developer handoffs. This is the information we currently see about Typography in the dev-mode. We’re missing the information about font-stretch values. Could you give us an update when this issue will be fixed? Thank you in advance.
Hi Figma Community, I’m experiencing an issue with font rendering in my Figma prototype, and I could really use some help! The font is Apple DS Gothic Neo (an embedded font) The font looks fine when I’m designing, but when I view the prototype, the text appears distorted or uses a different font entirely. I’ve tried clearing my cache, restarting Figma, and even reinstalling the font, but the problem persists. Has anyone else faced this issue before? Are there any specific settings I should check, or is there a workaround? I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to resolve this! Thanks in advance! 🙏
Hi everyone 👋 I'm a daily Figma user and really appreciate how flexible and powerful Auto Layout has become. That said, there are still a few small but recurring pain points in my workflow that I believe many other users may also be experiencing — especially when it comes to Auto Layout default settings. Currently, certain Auto Layout options like Exclude strokes and Canvas stacking are always turned on or off by default. While this might suit some use cases, it can feel counterintuitive or inefficient in others. 1. Exclude strokes — A repeated manual step that can lead to dev/design misalignment Every time I apply Auto Layout, I find myself manually disabling "Include strokes."In web development environments, it's common to build layouts using border for visual separation — not stroke.Because of this, including strokes in padding calculations can often result in misaligned spacing between design and front-end implementation. If designers could set "Exclude strokes" as a default, it wo
Hi, I have a side panel with buttons, and when clicking on one of the categories, the main screen slides to the correct categories. This works great. The buttons are in variant components with three states (default, hover, and selected). When I click on the button, I have two interactions set up in the prototype: ‘scroll to’ (to scroll to the section) ‘change to’ : state = selected My issue is that I want the button to go back to the default state when I click on another one. Is there a way to do that? (for now, they all become selected when I click one after the other). Thank you in advance, Anaïs
My little Figpal Disappeared. Tried to log out and log back in but still haven’t found it.
👉 this is the file Suddenly lost all the frames from “😇 final “ page of this file , Cann’t restore it from Version history. I have recently check this file, every thing way alright but suddenly today all the frames from the “ final” was deleted. Don’t understand how to restore it. I have share the file with editing access. Please help me restore all the frames. I don’t have any backups and In this file I have made all final pages and prototype.PLEASE ME . note: tried reinstallation of the mac desktop app didn’t work.
If you have a component with many different variants, it would be good to have a warning before someone accidentally changes the content within the component rather than in the variants. This is inspired by the warning that happened when detaching an instance when you had FigPals.
While onboarding at a new company, I rely heavily on the structure that assets/components have. In UI3 there is no structure of the assets, just a long list of all the components 😱.How am I supposed to find anything now the structure is totally gone. Am I missing something? Do I have a setting wrong? Considering we will be forced to work with UI3 in 2 days, I have to solve this issue now. I understand changes are hard for every user (maybe more so for designers), and I’m trying to adapt, but its a struggle if things don’t work properly. Lost all of my speed in designing. It’s a pretty big issue in general. Anyway if we can solve this assets issue that would be great.
