I've been experimenting with the new Figma Make feature and noticed a recurring issue that's affecting usability:

  • After about 8–10 successful prompts (each 1–2 lines long), Figma Make starts rejecting any further prompt with the message:

    "Try again, with fewer inputs."

  • This happens even when the prompts are extremely short, e.g., "Create a dark-themed button component" or "Add a CTA section with three buttons."

  • I’ve tested this across multiple projects and browsers. The issue persists consistently, and the only workaround seems to be refreshing the tab, which sometimes helps temporarily — but not always.

Additional Context:

  • Even though Figma Make is currently laggy while generating prototypes (which I can overlook), this input rejection bug makes it difficult to iterate quickly or finish design ideas.

  • It feels like a silent rate-limit or session exhaustion issue that’s not clearly communicated to the user.

same  problem here, I can’t edit anything using prompts

This is happening to me today as well & wasn’t happening beforehand. Thinking it may be a recent bug.

We are facing the same issue.

Same issue with me……

Recently in one of my figma file, I have been getting this error again and again whenever I try to prompt Figma Make AI. Did I hit a usage limit in anyway?

I still need to prompt a bit to complete my webapp but due to this error, I am not able to proceed further. Kindly help!

@Tom Reem Kindly resolve this. I posted a question regarding the same issue.

I have same issue

same here, can we clear the AI chat cache somehow @figma_admin

Same issue started this morning

Same issue here, i literally typed in "yes" and it returned that same error message "Try again with fewer inputs

Hey everyone, thanks so much for flagging this!

I’ve passed these reports along to our engineering team, who are actively investigating the issue. I’ll keep you updated as soon as I hear more from the team. Really appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Thanks alot. Eagerly waiting for an update. My project progress is paused because of this, kindly push this for priority

Hey @Imtiyaz_Ahmed, thanks for the tag and sorry for the trouble. I’m merging your post into this thread so we can track all related reports in one place. Also, I checked in a few moments ago, and our engineering team continues to actively investigate. Appreciate you for bearing with us while we work on this — we’ll follow up with everyone as soon as there’s news. 🙏🏻

Hey @Tom Reem  Appreciate you always being active here mate. And yes, waiting for this to be resolved. One of my high priority projects is on halt because of this.

I have the same problem like you. It happens after 20 prompts. Does anyone know when the problem will be fixed? Thank you.

Have the same problem, had a little luck rolling back two versions and asking it to clear cache but then hit the wall again.

We're currently experiencing a blocking issue while working in Figma Make with Claude AI integration.

Whenever we attempt to submit a prompt with moderate complexity (even just a sentence with multiple intentions), we consistently receive the following error:

"Try again, with fewer inputs"

This occurs:

  • Even with short prompts (under 500 characters)

  • On both new and restored versions of the file

  • After clearing cache, restarting browser, and disabling extensions

In the dev console, the following error also appears:

pgsql

CopyEdit

/api/cortex/shared/figmake:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 413 ()

We suspect that Claude's input buffer or Figma Make's internal API is rejecting or rate-limiting due to malformed payload sizing or context overflow — despite the inputs being well within normal usage.

What we need:

  • Either increased input tolerance, or

  • A clearer system for breaking long prompts into chunks without losing prior context

  • Or a way to reset Claude/Makes’s prompt memory per file (currently not exposed)

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Open a Figma Make AI project

  2. Add a Claude AI prompt with 3–4 action points (e.g., update component, adjust layout, group elements)

  3. Submit → ❌ Error message appears: "Try again, with fewer inputs"

This is blocking our ability to build and deploy components via Make’s AI automation. Please let us know if a fix or workaround is available, or if this is a known issue in the current release.

Hi @Junko3 ,

This doesn't seem to work for me...In fact, when I use V0 by vercel, if the current conversation is too long, I can copy the code to a new window to start a new conversation. I want to know if figma has the same function?

This still doesn’t work for me. Shows the same error.

Also still receiving the error (desktop version)

Hey Guys,

For me the issue has resolved for now. Checked it on the multiple files where the error was occuring, refreshed them and everything is working like charm now. There is some heavy lag though. Considerable delay in response during typing and scrolling.

Thanks,

The fix is not working for me either (after closing and opening + refreshing the files multiple times + restarting Figma).

Hi there,

Thanks for your comment. We're still investigating this. We'll let you know when we have an update. Sorry for the inconvenience!
