Both Figma library and site files are in the same project but can’t see the library I’ve just published as an available library to be connected in my site file.
Hey
I tested this on my end and also had to take a few extra steps to get libraries to show up in my own file. When you get a chance, see if this flow helps:
- Click the Insert ⨁ button from the left menu → then select Libraries.
- If you don’t see your library listed, scroll to the bottom and click Add more libraries.
- A pop-up will appear → look under the Your teams section and/or search or select the library you need.
- Click the library, then hit Add to file.
- After that, it should appear under All libraries in the left sidebar.
If you're still not seeing it, it might also be worth double-checking:
- that the library is published with the variables you need, and
- that you have the right permissions on the file and the library (sometimes if you’re not an editor on both, it won’t display correctly).
You can find more on the Figma Sites navigation here: Find your way around → Left navigation bar and sidebar.
Let me know if any of that works, and if you get stuck, feel free to share which step things are getting hung up on — happy to help troubleshoot further.

Thanks for asking this @Victor_Morales — I was running into the exact same issue and thought it was just me!
@Tom Reem’s steps worked for me once I followed them closely, especially the part about clicking “Add more libraries” and manually selecting from “Your teams.”
One thing I’d add: If your variables still aren’t showing, double-check if the variables are actually toggled on for publishing when you hit “Publish Library.” Sometimes I assumed they were, but turns out I had to manually check those boxes.
Appreciate the help here — lifesaver!
Awesome — so glad to hear this helped,
Really appreciate your patience, and great callout on the variables: if they’re still not showing, definitely double-check that they’re toggled on when you hit “Publish Library.”
I’ll pass your experience with this workflow along to the appropriate team. Thanks again for the collaborative troubleshooting — love to see it.
