Question

Text not visible on file canvas (Chrome)

Paulina Juhlin

I’m having issues with typing out text on the file canvas for the chrome desktop and browser app. Guessing it’s not a font issue since it’s inter.

Not a bounding or frame issue since I’m typing it straight onto the file canvas. No issues when I type it into an art board, within another layer/frame or have a background behind it. It’s like the file canvas has “hidden” frames that the text hides behind (see image). If you zoom in and out you can find a level where it is visible like normal, but if I were to adjust the zoom just a little bit it turns invisible again. I can’t see the text written when I select the area either.

I’ve tried restarting the desktop app without any success. Not sure if it’s an issue with the Asus model I’m using since it seems to work fine on my stationary chromebook at work.

Hi @Paulina Juhlin,

I understand you're encountering a issue where text typed directly onto the canvas in Figma Design (on Chrome OS with an ASUS device) becomes invisible or behaves unexpectedly, especially with zooming.

We haven't been able to replicate this specific behavior on our end yet. To help us investigate further, could you please provide a bit more information:

  • Is this issue occurring in a specific file or in all files?
  • If possible, could you please share a video recording demonstrating the behavior? Please ensure your full Figma screen is visible in the recording.

This will help us understand exactly what you're seeing and how we can best assist you.

Thanks,

Paulina Juhlin

Hi again,

Apologies for the delayed reply.

The issue seems to persist in all files on my chromebook. I’ve attached a video of the issue.

Hi again @Junko3

For some reason I’m having issues with frames as well, the content is not showing properly within a frame that has “clip content” selected. Same for browser as well as the desktop version of figma. No amount of zooming and and out solves this, it just changes the way the “blocks” are covering the frame.

I tried it on a different chromebook (but same model) and the issue remained, both for the text layers as in the original post and the visibility of content within a clipped content frame.
