May I ask how the AI background removal function in figma is implemented, and which company's api is used? I think this function is great, and I want to integrate this function into my website. Looking forward to replying.

I’ve gone through the variables playground docs and everything seems straightforward, but I cannot assign a mode to a frame. When I look at the example docs, there is a mode switch icon in the layer palette. But when I draw a frame on the canvas, I don’t see it. I’ve placed a demo file here. I want the red box to change its red variable between light and dark frames.

Hi, I was wondering how to get back to a free plan so that I can edit my files without moving accounts and get rid of the education plan since I’ve graduated now and figma has put me on a starter plan instead. I used the contact forum and was directed here as customers on a starter plan recieve support only through the community support forum and help center. Please, I just need to downgrade back to the free plan so I can edit my files again.  Thank you, Tanpreet 

Hello! I got an email notification saying my education plan is ending. I already graduated from my university and I barely use the account anymore. The only case I do use it is when I am mentoring students with my own time voluntarily who are still attending the university. With my education plan ending they will lose access to edit their files.I already applied for the re-verification of my plan stating that I’m only using the account for the purpose of teaching/mentoring the students. Would this qualify me in extending my educational plan on the account? If not, are there any special procedures I should go through to maintain edit access to the files? Will the files be deleted?

Dear Figma community, I’d like to do two actions on click of a checkbox: set a variable to increase a counter change the component variant to a different variant that has a checked checkbox. Just looking at the interface Figma seems to allow me to do this and add the change to. However when I try to change the status from “default” to “selected”, it automatically switches back after I select “selected”. Why could this be? Does anyone have an idea? Thank you for your help! Update: I got it to work by removing and adding it back a few times. Not sure what happened there.

I have a simple gradient style using color variables with light and dark mode values:   This gradient is used as a fill on the hover variant of a component with a simple dissolve animation while hovering:  This works fine in Auto (Light) mode, but when placed in a Dark mode frame, there seems to be a flash of light mode colors when mousing out of the component.Has anyone else encountered this?Is it a bug, or am I missing something with how color variable modes interact with animations?Prototype:Design File: 

In my design file, when the info icon is clicked, a popup appears with some text. The thing is, there are 100 info icons spread across my design file. Is there a way to change the text/content on the popup based on which info icon is clicked without having to make 100 different popups?

Is there a way I can stop Figma from using decimal places? “Snap to pixel” grid is not fixing it. When I draw or move an object, it some times places things on the .5 pixel, a line for example, if I draw with the pen tool it will not lock to the whole integer.

Hello. There seems to be a problem with the constraints of components. Seems like one part of the document is ok and the other not. I’ve tried everything from duplicating the document, copying to another page, etcThe only thing that worked is that I moved everything on the page to the left, but everything beyond the point in the video does not work. Almost nobody talks about that, why? After over 1 year of using Figma I sometimes still can’t find things in the right (design/properties) panel. Sometimes I can’t even find a defined color (good luck with #333 and figma in darkmode 😉 ) or an input field to change something. It sounds strange right? But it’s the first “software” with (in my opinion) an absolute terrible user interface! It never happens to me on any Adobe programs, Sketch, Affinity and other tools. I always know where to look at or I can scan the interface without any problems - but not in Figma. Yes it’s trendy to show input fields only on hover, but it’s trash when the LABEL LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE VALUE of the field 🤬 You can’t even scan for subtitles because on complex objects almost everything in the whole panel looks the same! HOW on earth can you design a design tool like this? What do you think? Did you search for something in this panel for yourself? by the way I use tools like this for more than

I am using a UI kit that has variables set up Primitive, Semantic and Component Specific Variables.There are 2,000 of them and I need to find e.g. a specific primitive ‘Emerald/200’ or a semantic ‘Primary/200’ but the only way I see is to scroll though the list on the left in the variable panel and it seems really convoluted.Also, I wish I could click on a variable alias in the the variable panel and it then take me to the original so I can then find variables that way by clicking from component variable to semantic variable to primitive variable.

At a certain point (approximately 6 hours ago), a frame containing master components suddenly malfunctioned: Element sizes changed to fractional values (e.g., 24.56px instead of 24px). Fonts from the library stopped applying correctly. I’m unable to adjust sizes in the master component, even though Constraints and Auto Layout have been checked. The issue only occurred in one frame; other elements in the file are working fine. I cannot revert to a previous version of the file because many new elements have been created in the last 6 hours. What I’ve already tried: Checked and reset the frame scale to 100%. Verified Constraints and Auto Layout in the master component. Reconnected the font library and created new text styles. Used plugins like Round to fix fractional values.  

Hi,I’m building a multi-user/product dashboard. I have an atoms based design approach. Everything works, but the file is non-performant. It’s slow to update and I’m not sure how to optimize Figma’s memory management across files, components, and libraries to keep things all in sync. Right now I have a nav panel that uses variables and modes to switch b/w a big variant set operating within a swap component. It’s almost like a huge JSON. This doesn’t feel like the best way to use the tool, but figma’s constraints for keeping things on the same page in order for variables to work for prototypes and the slower or nonfunctional performance when breaking things up kind of leave me no choice for now.Has anyone figured out how to seamlessly navigate pages using a nav panel where you have maybe ~8 categories of pages with ~12 subpages within each category? So ~100 variants

Figma file data is gone. It was fine until last November, but when I go in now, the data is rolled back to the state I was working in last June. The history back also goes back to June. I think there is a problem with the file. It is important data, so I really want to get it back. Can you tell me why? (It looks like not only one file but the other two files were rolled back as well. I think there may be a problem with the account itself.)

I’m a UX/UI design student who is new to the field so please bare with me.I want to create an interactive text input field for my prototype. I have a made an input field component with default and active variants. When the component is clicked on it switches to the active variants. What I can’t figure out is how to make it go back to the default variant when the user clicks outside of the component. Most of the answers I have seen online direct me to check off ‘reset component state’ under the ‘state management section’. That is not an option for my interaction, the only option I see is ‘reset scroll position’. Interactions details shown in picture.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

so, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong I’m unable to make this component appear after 1s delay with a boolean variable. If I set the variable in the interaction from false to true it does work, but it doesn’t the work the other way.

Developed a plugin to review design file and highlight the correction on plugin. Currently I can able to get data from Figma but how to pass that data into plugin UI

I’m having the same issue! Confirmed that the PNG has a transparent background, every time I import it (either through importing media or just dragging the file) it has a white background instead of transparent.

Hi, I am using a preset design and I am unable to change icons to ones that I would prefer. any help would be highly appreciated. For example, I want to add a boxing icon that is provided with the template but I am unable to swap out the skate boarding icon.
