Variable cursor in prototypes

Currently, in prototype the cursor appears to be either ‘pointer’ (for everything) or ‘hand’ (if a click interaction set up on an element). I would like to be able to change this to a text cursor, when hovering over an input field in my proto. Affordance is a very important part of UI so surprised theres no way to do this? Of course can hack it by adding an image of a cursor, but then you end up having that plus the actual cursor on screen & it makes things worse. Should be an easy feature to add and would be very much appreciated!

+100000 It’s helpful for website experience.

This would be so helpful! Agree with Sohrab that web design features are often overlooked.

I needed a hand cursor for hover effects for component variants so I added an on-click with open link action for a work around.

+1 Yes please! So urgently needed! I am really wondering why this is not implemented yet, feels like very basic to me.

Hi Bryon,

was thinking the same but cannot manage it to work.
If I try it I have to give the “open link” a link target (which is missleading because of course the user should not be able actually click and open whatever link), otherwise the cursor will not change. Am I missing something?

Would you mind explaining how you have achieved that?

Thanks in advance & Cheers,
Manuel

I’d love to have a custom cursor while prototyping.

Maybe whenever a user wants to explore various hover states, they could have the cursor change. That way when things are clickable, etc we could explore a more realistic interaction within a custom website UI.

Taking it a step further, it’d be cool to have the ability to see the cursor change in real time whenever prototyping. Right now the burden is on the interaction/animation to tell if something is working. Even just having the arrow / finger setup would be more indicative than the touch ball thingy.

Another +1! Would really love this feature to be added. I’m working on a site with a simple image gallery/slideshow and wanted to have the cursor change to a custom arrow cursor on hover. Hopefully this will be implemented soon!

Here’s my +1
A set of default cursors to chose from and the ability to include a custom cursor would be absolutely nuts. Yes please!

This was a great suggestion! Thanks.

I did the same and just used the “close overlay” link option. I suppose that won’t ‘always’ work, but unless you are IN an overlay, it seems like it would.

Still…get it together Figma! These are basic needs.
