Collapsing all layers makes the file really slow

Impact

While working on a file, when I collapse all layers (OPT+L), it seems like Figma starts syncing the file, which makes it extremely slow for a few moments. I didn’t have this problem in the past.

Hi @Impact,

I understand you're experiencing extremely slow performance when you collapse all layers.

We'd love to understand more about what's happening. Could you please confirm a couple of things for us?

  • Are you seeing this issue in the Figma Desktop App, your browser, or both?
  • Is this issue happening in a specific file, or does it occur in all your files?

We'd like to get our Technical Quality team involved to look into this issue more closely. To help us out, when you have a moment, please fill out this secure form: Secure form

Please include:

  • Your Figma account email
  • A video recording showing the behavior, including your full Figma screen. This will really help us understand exactly what you're seeing.

Thanks for your help with this!

Yes, this issue occurs both in the Figma Desktop App and in the browser.

It happens across all files, but it’s especially noticeable in larger files — the performance slowdown is much more significant there when collapsing all layers.

I’ll go ahead and fill out the secure form with the requested details and include a video recording as well.

Hi there,

Thanks for confirming that this issue occurs in both the desktop app and the browser, and that it's especially noticeable with larger files. Our technical quality team would definitely like to help investigate this further.

I checked our backend but couldn't locate your request. If you've already submitted one, could you please let me know which account email you used for the request via DM?

Alternatively, if you'd prefer, we can file a request on your behalf. Just let me know, and I can submit it, after which you can provide all the details, including your video recording, directly there.

Thanks,
