Is it OK my Figma desktop doesn’t get updated for 2024 summer version? All my friends already have that but i am not

I use Mac’s Spoken Content feature a lot; it helps provide different dynamics when proofreading. It works once, if you restart Figma but not the second time… Basically, the Mac reads you back highlighted copy with a hotkey. Funnily enough, a few Adobe products have this problem as well. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi folks, thanks for your help in advance. I have some old libraries in my team. But I’m too afraid to delete them because I don’t know if they are connected to any file and would break a design. Is there any way I can check this? Thanks a bunch, Janina libraries

Hello community, I need some real expert advice. We have the following situation: A global design team creates the libraries for all European design teams. Our German files are linked to the global libraries. Every month we receive an update of the library with new elements (e.g. icons) Each library update has an updated name (the date is the first part of the library name, e.g. “240612-Library-global”) Here are my questions and possible solutions: Question 1: Can I “update” a library, i.e. replace it with a new file, keeping only the differences? Question 2: Or do I have to disconnect the old library in my files and connect the new library? And then - it sounds too cruel to be true - manually reassign all components to this new library? I would like to prototype a mega menu in Figma and have all the links in this prototype work as well. Ideally, I want to do this using a component so that I only have to set up the links once. Is this possible? The mega menu consists of 4 different drop-down submenus, each containing various links. I couldn’t quickly find an example of a mega menu that was both animated and had working links.

Overriding component properties on childe components is something only Figma does not DX, Sketch, PenPot just Figma. But, this feature does not work if you swop a child components properties the overdoes will not be reflected on the prototype preview.

I am experiencing a situation where the color library popup is remaining attached to my mouse when I replace missing selection colors. I have condensed several of my color palettes, which left me with missing colors for some components. As I go through and replace the missing colors, the color library popup sticks to the mouse until I hit the ESC button. If I press the primary mouse button, it changes the color to whatever my mouse is on. I have a video of this, but “new users cannot upload attachments”.

Gif is not working in prototype. First it was working quiet good but after sometime I tried to play it again in prototype it was not playing. Along with that i made Text scrolling animation it is also not showing any scrolling in Figma prototype.

I was still modifying the page two days ago, but when I checked the project today, I found that basically all the files were lost.

Hello! I’m having a little problem with the new video tool. Basically, I have a video that I want to use, it’s a cyber city with some particles going around. When I add the video to the Design Mode, the thumbnail appears in good quality, even the first time that I start the Presentation Mode the video looks really crisp as the original, however, the moment I add that video to a component or do whatever (resizing, add a shape, etc…) when I go into Presentation Mode the resolution lowers A LOT. Is Figma doing the same thing it does with images? Thank you in advance for any kind of response.

I have tried to reinstall the font, reinstall the Figma, restarting my computer, nothing works 🙂

Im the admin for our account. I recently deleted a user account due to issues with access. I sent the invite to the user to join again. But when they try to sign up, Figma says the email is in use.

Made a function to search for all instances on the page, and then toggle the ‘Mode’ property values from light to dark, and vice versa. I am trying to achieve the following: Show/Hide an element within a component only on certain frames. E.g. On page 1 show a light bulb, on frame 2 do not show it. I have already one collection of variables used for device type. E.g. Desktop. This works. now I added another collection to the local variables with two modes, containing a boolean variable in each one. I would expect this collection to show up within the layer selector, but only the device collection is showing up. Why?

Hi everyone, I created a design system and one of the components is a notification center. In one of the files that I’m using it, I want to make an alert update based on a user interaction, but I haven’t been able to do it without creating multiple instances of the component for each alert. What I would like to do is to create a string variable that updates based on what the user is clicking, and that variable would directly change the description and alert title. Now, here are some issues. I tried making the description and title as a property of the notification center component. That means I can edit it easily, but I can’t link a local variable to it → not helpful. I also tried creating a string variable in the design system itself and publishing it, in the hopes of editing it directly on the file using the design system, but somehow it doesn’t show up in my variables list. Hey! Is it possible to set this kind of animation in Figma? I built a grid with 10 images and all I want is to set a hover effect on each one of them. The animation goes from black & white image into colorful. At the moment it only work for the whole frame / grid, but that’s not what I’m looking for. Thank you for the help!

I was able to successful make a countdown timer for a project. But when I duplicate this component, which is made to be interactive with itself, into an auto layout, the timer would count back according to how many duplicates exist within the auto layout. For example: If I have 4 timer components in an auto layout, then the timer would count back in increments of 4. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Here are my conditional prototype settings:

1. Describe the bug/issue you’re running into? Post-Its by default display the creator’s name, which is useful but you should have the ability to turn this off for workshop purposes as a key workshop principle is to keep things anonymous i.e. when we do a post-it session asking everyone to say what’s wrong with something they are more honest because no-one knows who wrote what. 2. Are you able to consistently reproduce it? If so what are the steps? 3. Share a screenshot, recording, console log, link to the file, etc.cln.sh 4. Having a weird issue with Figma. I’m the owner of a file, but I can’t share it. The dialog says I need to request admin approval, and that request is sent to me! Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any solutions?
