Hey 🙂 Currently I am working on a big project, that involves a lot of different state of different components. Is it possible to change the property of an element/component through clicking on another object? Given my screenshot below it should be, no? But linking this rectangle with the below component doesn’t work at all. I would love to be able to switch the state of the linked object when I click this (example) rectangle in prototyping. The linked object has different properties available, but I can’t select them tho. Could you please explain my what I am doing wrong? Thank you 🙂 Cheers

Hello! I am new to using Figma and have been making my way through the Google UX Design Certification. I think I may have over complicated one of my portfolio projects and am hitting a roadblock for one of the planned frames. I’m designing this project to be a voter resource tool, where they can see who currently represents them on a state and federal level (US) and who is currently running for office. I’m trying to make something that would be user-friendly for seniors, folks who are first time voters, and folks with learning disabilities. I’m trying to create a way for the user to compare candidate views on top issues in one screen, instead of having to go back and forth to each candidate. I cannot figure out how to do this currently. I’ve figured out overlays for my settings screen and menu and am trying to avoid making a billion more screens to account for every possible combination of candidates being compared. Hi guys! For those who have a product that is displayed on mobile and desktop, how did you build your design system? Do you have one single design system or one for each? Giving that some of our platform components are quite different from one to the other we are thinking about building two design systems, but then once we’ll search for an asset we won’t be able to know from which design system it comes from. Still getting used to Figma here, so I’m hoping you guys can help me! Cheers, Gaëlle

There’s a lot of posts online and on the forum about embedding Figma into other websites, but I was wondering if it was possible to embedded websites inside of a Figma Design file? Specifically I’d like to embed a SketchFab model, ideally just providing the standard SketchFab iFrame code, and have it load in the design file and be usable? Something like this model. Is anyone aware if this is possible, or somethat that could be created through the Figma plugin api? Thanks

Please help me in this, i am trying to create thumbnails that enlarge on hover individually but scroll vertically together as a panel. there is also a little text under these thumbnails that scrolls. the scrolling is happening with a scroll bar and thumb. later, the panel is to be added to a website screen, with the hovering and scrolling of panel happening without disturbing the rest of the website screen. I have tried many methods, but basically the scrolling is overriding my thumbnail components’ hover interaction.

I saw some past topics about this but no real fixes: I can’t select any other frames of a gif as a preview other than the first frame. All software is up to date. Is there some other way to fix this?

I made this top bar for my app and it was working great, stretching according to a size of the frame, but once I made this a component and added to my library, it stopped working. How do I fix this?

Hi friends! I have a quick question: When inspecting in dev mode, I noticed a gap value displayed as “6x” with an info icon. This container is set to wrap, and the actual gap size is 24px. Do you guys know what the meaning of “6x” in this context? And how could I expand the info icon to learn more? Thanks in advance! 🙂

I am not seeing respective icons, the cursor stays the same if I try to rotate, create new frame. Even I can not see the eye dropper tool. Don’t know why it is happening.

I can’t find my Figma file. Yesterday, I worked on it, but I can’t find it in my files, also not in my deleted files. How can I restore this? Might be simple answer… When I create a new design file and then turn on a shared library is there a way to view all the available text and color styles from the shared library in the right Design panel in my new file? I don’t mean when I’m applying the styles to text or objects. I want to be able to see all the styles in the Design panel of my individual design files just like I can see them when I’m working in my library file:

PLEASE HELP 😦 could someone help me, with the best way to prototype a filter menu coming in from a button? I’d like the page content to ‘squeeze’ very much like outlook has the hamburger menu push in and the content gets smaller. I can’t seem to get this with an overlay as theres nothing to push? should this be done with variables? i’d be grateful of any guidance.

Hello, I create complex object, then I “group”, and “create component”. I want to modify the component, and so to “un-component” it. How to, because as for “group & ungroup”, there is “create component” but not “un-component” menu ? Best regards

What am I doing wrong?

I understand that we are allowed unlimited files in our Drafts section, even if on a Starter Plan. But ever since the changes to how Drafts work, I can no longer import files directly into my Drafts section which I could do before by following the usual ‘+ Create new’ file flow. I get an error message saying I’ve reached my Starter Plan file limit. Has anyone noticed this? I had been regularly importing files to my Drafts to record professional work in my personal Figma account for portfolio updating. Thanks, Varun

I currently have an interactive input field as a component in my sticker sheet. I found that I cannot change the input field name when apply to my work. How can I change the heading without affecting the component? Example: Currently the heading of the input field is call “Name”. I want use this component in a form and call the field “Wallet name”. And I may want to use the same component as the next field and call it “Password”. Is there any way to change the heading of the field without changing the component?

I’m trying to create a resizable animated button with a shadow where if you press it, it will collapse the shadow layer and look as if it is being pressed down. adding a drop shadow does not function as I’d hoped, it simply retracts into a kind of dissolve animation I can’t alter. I can’t flatten two shapes together because I want to keep a stroke on one of them. my problem is that when resizing the button, the shadow layer does not follow suit, and instead remains the original size. I can’t seem to merge both layers together in a way that works while keeping the auto layout function or keeping the intended appearance. is there a way to make two frames follow the same auto layout without flattening them?

I have a frame wherein the user has to select between two choices.; Radio selection let’s name it A&B. Upon selecting A, its container expands to show more features inside A (I have used Clip Content and enabled vertical scrolling) and shows the default container state of B at the bottom. Now, when I click B from this state (at the bottom) it expands to show the features but I’m only able to view half of it and have to scroll up to view the rest. I was initially using Smart Animate and now I changed it to Instant after referring to some forums, and still it doesn’t work. Please help. Thanks in advance!

I love the Duotone plugin. But, I wish I could save a set of duotones I use all the time for our brand. does anybody uses a different plugin that has that feature?

All of my local text and color styles disappeared from one of my Figma files; I tried restoring old versions of the file but they’re not there as well. I read about other people having this issue; that issue was closed; I’m posting a new one to confirm that this issue still persists. I’ll have to reimport and reapply the styles; a cumbersome, time consuming process.

I have a student that can’t verify their .edu email address. Figma keeps asking them to verify, but they never receive the email.

Comecei a usar o Figma recentemente e criei umas telas e um dropdown, mas estou com dois problemas: Eu vou em assets e insiro a instância do menu que eu criei, mas quando eu abro ele ainda nas telas, o menu aberto não fica no default, e sim na variante da primeira opção do menu, como se eu já tivesse escolhido a primeira opção. Quando eu apresento o protótipo, o menu não aparece na tela. Se alguém puder me ajudar com isso, ficaria muito grata!

I would like my sticky contact button to open to the left on hover. No matter how I try the animation, my button always opens to the right, i.e. out of the frame: How would you animate the button?
