The prototype works fine on android devices (chrome), but on iphone (chrome, safari) the video does not play nor audio is heard. Anyone know what would be the problem?
Figma – 18 Mar 21Hey @Rongxin,
By default, Safari will prevent any sound from playing when visiting websites. However, you can adjust this setting by right-clicking the address bar and selecting the option to “allow all auto-play” (see attached for reference).
Please try altering this setting and let us know if the problem is fixed.
That will fix the audio yes. But the audio will not play if the video will not play.
I’m having a very similar issue where when I share a prototype with someone to view and it includes video, the video will not play. I use Figma to share artwork that will sometimes contain video but if the viewer opens on Safari the video WILL NOT play for them at all.
This is only a safari issue.
Hey @Jordan_Hackworth, sorry for any disruption to your work!
Are you only experiencing this issue on mobile devices?
If so, it appears you may be encountering a known issue with video playback on iPhone that our team is currently investigating. At this time, we do not have an estimated timeline for a resolution.
Could you please check if you have the minimum browser requirements? For Safari it’s 15.5 or later.
Could you also give please us the following details?
- App version
- Device model
- IOS version
To help us take a closer look, can you add support-share@figma.com as an Editor to the file with the video that won’t play (this won’t affect your billing at all)? Also, please feel free to DM me the file link if you don’t want to share it publicly in the Forum.
Thanks in advance!
If your videos aren’t playing on your iPhone, don’t worry—it’s one of those things that happens from time to time, but it’s usually fixable with a few simple tricks. First, let’s check if it’s a particular video that’s acting up or if it’s all videos. If it’s just one, it might be corrupted or improperly downloaded, which means it might not be an iPhone issue at all. Try streaming it again or re-downloading it if you can.
Now, if it’s all videos, let’s start with something simple—restarting your iPhone. You’d be surprised how often a quick restart solves these random issues. Sometimes the software just needs a little refresh, and restarting can help clear out any minor glitches.
Another thing that might be causing the problem is your internet connection. If you’re streaming videos, a weak Wi-Fi or cellular signal can be the culprit. Try switching to a different network, or if you’re on Wi-Fi, toggle it off and back on again to see if that helps.
Sometimes, the issue can also be related to the app you’re using. If you’re watching on a third-party app like YouTube or Netflix, there could be a bug in the app itself. Updating the app from the App Store might do the trick. And, if that doesn’t help, deleting the app and reinstalling it often clears out any funky bugs that could be causing the playback issues.
If none of these solutions work, you can follow for more details assistance below.
