I am working on a dropdown component that updates the ‘select option’ text with the option text that receives the click. So, if the user selects ‘apple’ from the list, the dropdown would show ‘apple’ as the selected option. One approach would be to use variables inside the component. To continue with our example, we would store ‘apple’ as a variable and wire it up to one of the options in the dropdown list. The ‘select option’ would be set to ‘apple’ when the user selects it. The problem with this approach is that a variable can only be defined once. As a result, multiple instances will all refer to the same value. For example, if I want to use two dropdown components, one with a list of fruits and another with a list of car brands, this is not possible. An alternative approach is to link the variables to the option texts at the instance level instead of the component level. This way, each dropdown would have its own set of variables. Hello good! How are they? I’m having a problem with variable modes and colors in components. I’m creating some “templates” to be able to easily switch between a square UI and a rounded one with variable modes. I generated the icons with variants that will be renamed using a variable, one for the sharp ones and another for the rounded ones. I incorporated this icon into the button with the properties to easily change the icon and applying the variable to the property of the icon itself, so that it adapts to the variable modes. When I replicate the component instance and switch between variable modes it initially works fine, the edges are rounded and the icon changes properties. The problem is when I change the icon on the button, in principle everything looks fine, but when I change the variable modes the color of the icon resets to its original color, and this does not allow me to replicate multiple components with different icons and change between modes easily, you would have to

Hi, I have a problem with Figma UI. I think i is related to UI3 update since I have basically two sidebars on top of each other. I have the old one without content and than on top of it new floating one. Anyone else had a same problem? How did you resolve it?

Hi! when I have a group or a frame, which is an image with a mask, if from the DEV mode I want to export that frame or group, it does not let me select it and I can only select the whole image, how can I prepare that in Figma so that when I pass it to the developers they can export the frame/group instead of the whole image? thanks 🙂

I’m currently working on a logo file where I’ve imported the SVG vectors over to Figma, but the lines are doing this weird fade out effect, kind of like they start at 1px but end up being 0.3px. I’ve looked into the original vector file, and there’s no issues with the file from what I can tell. The effect only appears if I’m zoomed out quite a bit. Has anyone experienced something similar to this before?

It seems Figma can’t decide whether it uses bullet characters (bad choice IMO) or real bullets, see for yourself: If I start typing in the last line it converts the bullet char into a circular bullet, but I can’t fix the one in the second line. Hi there, we attempted to transfer a team from another company into our organization. As an admin, I received an email notification stating that I had a transfer request. When I clicked on ‘Review Request,’ I was directed to Figma’s team settings, but there was no option to accept the request. We followed the instructions from this guide: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/10250387712407-Transfer-a-project-or-team-to-a-different-account. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any time I select an image or frame, it jumps to the right and up about 4-8px. It’s definitely a bug, and it’s super annoying. Please fix it!

when Figma AI Betas launched?

I’m not sure why this happened, but all styles in our component has been disconnected unexpectedly. Color tokens have been connected without any problem. I’ve checked the previous version using version history, and found that it happened around the end of December 2022 or so(3 weeks ago). Does anyone know the reason, and how to solve this? It takes huge time if we take care of them manually… 😱

Hey, since the update to UI3 my Figma is running very slow. It’s blocking me to work properly, and deliver on deadlines. I checked my internet connection, and there is nothing wrong with it, also my MacBook is running as usal… so must be Figma I guess. Can anyone help me please? I tried clearing my cache as I found in an older topic, but that didn’t help much.

Hi everyone I have question, can I publish a private plugin for organisation ? if I share the plugin in this way, does it mean that the whole organization can use this plugin (viewer/editor)? Or do viewers need developer mode to be able to use this plugin?

When adding the integration between Figma and Jira, is there a way to hide the ‘Add Design’ button in certain circumstances? Maybe certain Jira projects wouldn’t need it, or story/task types, etc. Having the button appear on every single Jira ticket when it would only ever be needed by a few might be a nuisance or annoyance to many of our Jira users.

Figma UI3 Update moved component menu to bottom toolbar. You cannot search for a component directly, you must click to “search for assets for…”. This is an extra click and buries components. The second way to access components is through the asset tab. After finding a component, you still have to select it in the panel. Rarely do I click a component and not mean to. Bring back the component selection menus with fewer clicks. Please and thank you!

I am wondering if Figma can show data of where variables are being used? For example, lets say there is a breaking change in a variable we use, is there a way to show where in any file that variable is being used? Does Figma Analytics have those capabilities? Thanks ahead of time.

Less than 30 minutes ago, I accidentally closed a file I had been working on for a long time. I cannot find it in “Drafts,” “Recent,” or “Trash.” The last time the file was edited was about 2 months ago. I opened the file to look at it and accidentally closed it. Please help me find it.

Templates is kind a shit still. Changes updates don’t go to the files that are using the Template, what makes no sense to me, since is published as a Library. And now, I went to sleep and woke up to continue my work on a slide deck, and i just lost all of the text styles of the template. Then, I’ll have to again, take one slide and reapply all the styles of the “new” template of the slide (is the same template, but “republished”. NO SENSE.

Hi everyone, I am trying to use the command opt+command+G as a shortcut for framing selection, but it opens a modal to access Google Drive files instead. I’m using the desktop version. I’ve already checked my keyboard, and it matches the one I can see from the ‘?’ options. Does anyone have the same issue? how did you solve it? Cheers!
