I am learning Figma and loving it. I have a small startup and i’m trying to wireframe the web app we’re making. Right now I’m on " Figma For Beginners: Explore ideas (1/4)" video on the official figma youtube channel. I created a free account and appears that can’t follow the tutorial any further because team library is required. Do I need to subscribe to pro license as a beginner or is there a way I can work around it for a while until i get better?
Over the past week, my Figma desktop hasn’t worked i am on Windows 11 with pretty decent specs., it works fine on the browser but not on my desktop the background process is showing in the task manager but it won’t draw any power from the CPU. I tried clearing the cache memory, turning off the firewall, and fresh installing it but whenever I open the setup it buffers, and shows the Figma symbol, and that’s it! It won’t ask me for the location to install or if I want a desktop/start menu file. Then if I search for Figma it shows that the app is installed but still won’t open and the Figma agent is open in the background without drawing any power. PLEASE HELP!!!
As a regular user of Shift+I for quick component insertion and Alt+Click for overriding components, I’ve encountered issues with these shortcuts in the new UI. Despite my reliance on these actions, they still don’t function properly in UI3. This was a key reason I initially chose not to adopt UI3, and it’s why I remain hesitant to switch. Please address this issue.
I am trying to create a dynamic component which contains: text with a background which grows vertically when text spills over 1 line a dot that is sits beside the text and stays centrally aligned to the background when the text frame grows. The problem I am having is that the component that these live within, doesn’t grow with the frame. This is making it difficult to space elements below it because the distance is inaccurate as the component box has not grown. Difficult to explain but any help would be really appreciated!
Hello While working in a project (not necessarily loaded with many objects or completely empty), after some time of work (random), the project seems to update the page. The project tab becomes “New Page”, gray screen. You have to close the project and enter it again. I can’t figure out what the problem is
When selecting multiple frames, it used to have a shortcut in the top to create a section around selected frames. I coudn’t find a way to do it on the new UI.
I have a component that stacks a list of tasks, and each task can be replaced by a group of tasks. The component itself works fine, but when I change an instance, the elements of the instance are restored to the height of the original element in the component, ignoring the “Hug” height setting that has been applied to each element. This means that if I have a hidden group and an expanded group in the original component, after an interaction cycle (open-close, close-open) in the instance, when expanding the hidden group again, it will have the height of the hidden group instead of adjusting the height to the expanded group. In the second case, if I hide the expanded group, it will retain the height of the expanded group.
It would be awesome if there was a badge notification on the Figma desktop app. I miss notifications all the time because I don’t check Figma that often, but it would be great if (like Slack) there was the red badge on the ap icon in my dock. #1 feature request right now - it would make my life (ad my designers) SOOO much better.
Hello, I was logged into an old school email, and after graduating recently, the institution deleted that email address. I wasn’t able to edit the email for the account and now, I cannot sign back in. I’m really scared as this was 3 years worth of work 😭 and I would hate to lose it. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done! Help! Thank you.
Current version with RE-DE-SI-GN … it’s a joke Does anyone know how to roll back a version? thanks!
I used to able to connect straight connectors to the centre of a shape when creating the connector but it’s now connecting to the side of shapes by default. I then have to edit every connector on both sides to attach them to centres. This wasting a lot of time. I am assuming it’s a bug.
We have been working on our projects and we have a few of our main files - mainly Standards and the bulk of our screens. Every time we want to create a version to send over to devs we obviously have to create a new file by duplicating this version of the standards/screens, naming it appropriately and then sending over. However every time we do this it reverts the sharing permissions back to ‘private’ so when we share the devs can’t view it until we manually go into the new file and change it to public. So I was wondering, is there a way to set default sharing permissions to public for each new file that is created? Rather than it be set to private by default and having to manually go in and change it to public for every file? Thanks
I know that Figma will export all frames, but it does that into a single PDF from what I’ve tried. It would be great if there was a way to export all frames at once and have Figma create an archive with one PDF per frame, and where each PDF’s filename is equal to the frame’s name. Does anyone know if this is possible or if there’s a plugin to accomplish this? Thank you!
As an instructor and Educator, can i use my Educators plan for non-education work I do outside of my school work?
1 309 / 5 000 The new interface doesn’t make much sense. We don’t understand why the main bar is at the bottom. It
So bizarre, Im using an animation for page transitions in Slides… a simple dissolve. But in presentation mode, this massive ‘animate?’ icon is showing in the top left, and dissapears if I click it. How can we get rid of this affordance for my audience?
Good afternoon colleagues. I have a question, why when I design the fonts have different styles like for example the Plus Jakarta font has regular medium and some more, but when I switch to developer mode it changes to a numerical value “500” how do I identify which font it is? and how can I make it not to change the names to numerical values?
Please revert to UI2
Found several posts on search not working but not specifically this. When I search for an component name and type it exactly as its spelt, Search cannot find it. All I see is a small spinning loading circle. Instead I have to manually find the item through the navigation which is highly annoying. None of my team members on the same workspace get this. I have rebooted, reset cache and even reinstalled Figma. No difference when switching between new UI and old UI either. Anyone else had this and has a solution?
I used to only able to make prototype link to only frame level, now I am can add link to, let’s say, the background image of the frame…I can see why how this is useful… but what if in some scenario, I only want my previous screen link only to my next frame instead of the specific elements of it?? The issue now is that it is really hard to link to the screen… it always points to the element inside of that frame…
So main reason I want to go back to UI2 is the fact I have to select ‘version history’ on the left to get my layers back on that column. If I ‘x’ out on the right it gets back to a very distracting list of library thumbnails. So not a great improvement and didn’t know where to put that feedback other than in this forum.
I do see the AI Features activated, but my interface is still the old one, and i’d like to try out the new Figma features, how can i get the updated interface? I’ve tried to update the Figma app and it says that i have the latest version, tried web version and nothing changes
I mean it might be better looking but the older version was handier. They just updated it, in the middle of my work, and now can’t finish it smoothly 🥲
There’s an old main component in the shared library that I would like to remove. This component is a duplicate of a new component that was created. How to unpublish a single component?
Hi! I am doing a school project in Figma and can’t get the Check if/else state to work. I would like to have it possible to progress with the continue button only if a location is selected as in the picture: I have it set so when you are in default variant the boolean is set to false and set to True when you are in the variant displaying the location has been selected The animation between variants works but it doesn’t change the value of the boolean. Can someone point out what I am doing wrong?
