Hi. I received a message that my education plan will expire in 12 days and I will lose access to all my files and teams. How I can move them to Drafts? Can you clarify what team or teams will be lost? And how can I move them to drafts that I will not lose access to? I now see two teams, in one I see all my Drafts for the entire time I have used Figma, and in the other I do not see a single one. What should I do to not lose access to all 170 Drafts?

Hello @Viktoria_Vodopolova, Thank you for reaching out about this! I totally understand your concern.

I noticed that there are two education teams on your account, named as follows:

  • Vikki_volt
  • Drafts

Once your Education plan expires, those two teams will become view-only due to:

  1. Your plan will be downgraded to the Starter (free) plan.
  2. These teams exceed the limits of the Starter plan.

You can move your files to Drafts by dragging and dropping them from a project to Drafts in the sidebar of your team within the file browser. There are no limits on how many files you can have in your drafts.

Please be aware of these limitations as well:

  • On the Education plan: you can grant collaborators either “can view” or “can edit” permissions for files in your drafts. - Guide
  • On the Starter plan: you can only invite collaborators with “Can view” access to files in your drafts. - Guide

In addition to moving your file to your drafts, please be aware of the limits of the Starter plan. I recommend adjusting your team structure to comply with these limits:

  • File limit: Your starter team can have 3 FigJam files and 3 Figma design files, with a maximum of 3 pages per design file.
  • Project limit: Your starter team can have one project.

Since the Education plan provides access to the features of the Professional plan for free, refer to this guide for more details: Cancel your Professional plan subscription

I hope this clarifies things a bit! If I overlooked anything, please let us know.
Thank you once again for reaching out.

Thanks for the answer. But I don’t quite understand. Should I delete one of the teams to keep access to the second one? And to which drafts exactly should I move my files? Are these team drafts? Because in one team I don’t see a single file in the drafts, and in the other there are 170 of them. I would like to keep all these drafts. How can I do this correctly?

Thanks for reply! I completely understand why you might be feeling confused. Let me do my best to explain.

You’re not required to delete both of your educational teams. However, I noticed that you’ve already deleted a team called “vikki_volt”.
Let’s now turn our attention to your remaining educational team named “Drafts.”

Just to make things clear, each team comes with its own designated “Drafts” space: Updates to how drafts work

This means that your “Drafts” team has a “Drafts” space to itself. I’ve seen that you have 171 files in the “Drafts” space within the “Drafts” team.

When your Education plan comes to an end, and if you decide not to upgrade to the Professional plan, the “Drafts” team will automatically switch to the Starter plan.

The good news is, as long as those 171 files remain in the “Drafts” space and you don’t have any projects within the “Drafts” team, you’ll be able to hold on to those files even after the downgrade.

Like I mentioned before, there’s no cap on the number of files you can have in the “Drafts” space, even if you’re on the starter plan. If you’re wondering about any other limitations, feel free to refer back to my previous comment.

Hope this helps clear things up!

Am I correct in understanding that in order to save all my 171 files I don’t need to do anything if they are in the drafts space in the drafts command?

Yes, if all your files are in the drafts space within your team, there’s no need to take any action.

You can refer to this guide to learn about the features your team will have access to with the Starter Plan.

Thank you for creating this thread. Very helpful. I am in the same situation, however I have a lot of files in ‘Drafts to move’ folder in the sidebar. Are these files still going to be there after my Education Plan expire or should I move the files to ‘Drafts’ folder in one Team project folder that I have?

Or is it better to create Starter Team Project now and move all the files into Drafts folder for this project.

Additionally, is the prototype functionality available in Starter Plan? I have few links on my portfolio website that refer to the prototype links and I am just trying to avoid a situation where the links become broken after the downgrade.

My Education plan expires in 3 days so please advise asap. My apologies for the rush.

Hi there, Thank you for finding this thread helpful.

If you’d like to keep your files under “Drafts to move,” please move all your drafts into a team’s drafts space. It’s your choice to move those files to an existing team or create a starter team for that.

If you decide to create a Starter team, you can refer to this helpful guide: Updates to how drafts work > Frequently asked questions > Can I keep sharing files and working with other people for free?

Prototyping is supported on the Starter plan, however, features like “Video in prototypes” and “Variables, expressions, and conditional logic in prototypes” are not included.
For more detailed information, as I mentioned in the previous comment, please take a look at our guide on Figma plans and features.
