Can I edit the variables defined in a published library locally? There is a library file (Say File A) with a collection of local variables defining some string and numbers shown on a component. The component is published (with all variables too) I added this component to another file, say File B, but when I want to edit those strings and numbers locally in this File B, I can no longer see the these variables, nor editing them. Seems like I can only edit the published component in the library File A (if I have edit access) and this will change all the instances too. Can I instead edit it locally, meaning edit the values of these publish variables only in File B?
I thought it was just my bluetooth keyboard glitching out, but cmd + z is not undoing any action, nor is going to the Edit menu > Undo. Has anyone encountered this issue before? And if so, how did you resolve it?
I was super pumped to start using grids for my layouts until I learned of one fatal flaw that killed my excitement :( The inability to set a row height to hug is simply a deal-breaker for me. Also no variables support for gaps? really?
Annotations can be hard to find and are often critical. A central spot that allows me to make sure I see them all would be very welcome. I’d suggest clicking an item on the list in the panel should focus the element and its annotation in the main canvas. Thanks.
Hello guys, I’m having an issue with one of my component. I’m trying to make a button where the arrow below the text is taking the full width of the container (aka the text width). I thought it would’ve been a simple task but turns out it’s not working at all. Instead of the arrow stretching longer, it simply disappears for a moment and then reappears in the longer form. Both instance have the same layer names, the prototype is simply ‘While hovering’, smart animate, ease in and ease out, 300ms, nothing fancy. What am I not doing properly? https://imgur.com/a/jWWn5zb
Hello, it would be nice to have the option to insert floating components inside text (like Emojis). Use case would be for signs or infos in complex dashboards. Its a hustle to do this now manually and also set kind of boundingboxes to sync different heighs of text and component. Regards
There seems to be a bug where the Min and Max values do not show up on component instances? The values do get applied, but they do not show up in the W (width) and H (height) fields, so there is no way to see that’s where the width is coming from, or to clear the min / max when an override is needed. NOTE: this seems to happen only with nested components. In my example I have a button component, inside a “Button Group (Save or Cancel)” component. An instance of the button shows the Min width, but the button in an instance of the button group does not. Possibly related: Can’t remove min and max height when the component is nested
when paste image in Figma firefox browser. firefox showing “Paste” button Can anyone tell me how to stop this?
As a designer, I’m frequently mocking up flows in which a user must scroll down to take an action. In order to accomplish this, I end up removing auto layout and manually moving the content to the intended position. It would be excellent if we could set a scroll position in design mode, or simply use a scroll tool to click and drag the content.
Our UXR team has noticed an increasing issue with loading prototypes on Android devices. Are certain devices more susceptible to this issue? Sometimes refreshing the prototype once resolves the problem, but other times the prototype either fails to load entirely or crashes. Are there any recommended optimizations, or have others experienced this issue?
Very low performance speed in Figma Make when the thread reaches large sizes (currently 230+ iterations). All actions in the chat area occur with a significant delay (typing, scrolling, etc.), making it impossible to work. However, the prototype itself works well within FM. Has anyone encountered this? What could be the cause? Could it be related to the power of the laptop?
Hey! How can I transfer the AI generated Prototype in Figma Make to Figma Design and continue editing it manually there?
Hi everyone, I searched the forum but only found general issues about right-click not working at all – nothing about this specific behavior: When I right-click (or ctrl-click) on an object, I only get the short context menu (see first screenshot), instead of the full extended one (see second screenshot). This really slows down my workflow. I’m using the Figma Desktop App version 125.4.9, optimized for Apple Silicon, on a MacBook Pro (2021) with macOS Sonoma 14.5 and an Apple M1 Pro. Has anyone experienced this? Could this be a setting I’ve missed or a bug? Thanks in advance for any help!
I want a way or a plugin to add custom metadata/custom properties/custom attributes to Figma components. My goal is to design components like Button, ComboBox, Radio Button, Table, TextArea, and TextInput, and attach metadata to each. I need to fetch this metadata later using Figma’s GET API. The metadata can be Plain text or JSON as string and can be of any number (10/20/30) I tried using default component properties capability associating it with bunch of hidden text type, but when I create an instance of the component, the properties associated with hidden text don’t appear in the new instance. Any suggestions on how to achieve this or a pluging which can be used to achieve it would be very very helpful.
Hi Figma team, I accidentally deleted important file on June 25 around 4:20 p.m. The file is no longer visible in my account and in the trash. I had shared the file with a second account, but it’s not available there either. The file name was “Кейсы”, and it was created in a Education plan. Is there any way to restore the file, even partially? Thanks a lot in advance — this project is really important for me. Link
