when paste image in Figma firefox browser. firefox showing “Paste” button
Can anyone tell me how to stop this?
Hi there! This may be an issue directly with your browser. To cover some grounds, please make sure your browser is up-to-date, you can follow the steps here:
Figma Learn - Help Center
And please try to force-quit and re-opens to see if that helps.
Still not solved my problem
I’ve been experiencing the same issue. I tried the steps in the article linked by Celine, but nothing worked.
The issue only occurs when pasting images from the clipboard in Firefox. I’m getting it on Windows 10 and 11, even on a fresh install of Firefox.
Using Ctrl+V to paste causes the Paste button to appear like a context menu, and the paste won’t go through until the button is gone (by clicking on the button, or outside of it, or pressing Esc).
Right-clicking the canvas and selecting “Paste here” causes the same Paste button to appear, but clicking on it will cause another Paste button to appear.
Hey everyone, thanks for flagging this. After further investigation, I see in our backend that the support team has escalated this issue to our engineering team for further investigation.
We will keep you posted. For now, we recommend to use a different browser in the meantime if it is an action you often need to take. Thank you for your understanding!
UPDATE: Our engineering team have also confirmed that this is a bug - however to be transparent with you that this will not have an immediate resolution as we need more time to investigate this.
While I can’t promise a quick fix, please know that our engineering team is aware of the issue and will work towards finding a solution in the future. We appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter!
Hey
This issue is still on our radar. While I can’t guarantee an immediate fix for this long-standing bug, please know that our engineering team is aware and will work on finding a solution in the future.
We truly appreciate your patience and support as the team continues to investigate. Thank you again!
hey
as I’m sure you’re aware, there’s been a big influx in firefox based browsers due to the most recent shenanigans of google/chromium, so a lot of people are “being forced” to face this annoying little quirk everyday at work
i.e it would be extremely valuable if we could somehow solve this issue, please let me know if I can be of any help for that effect
appreciate any further feedback in advance
This fixed it for me. (Firefox, Mac)
HTH!
pixelraga’s fix didn’t work for me
In fact it broke Paste to replace.
(Zen Browser 1.12.5b, Linux)
(Firefox 138.0.3, Linux)
I can confirm this issue. Latest Firefox (139.0) running on Fedora 42.
Hi again everyone! Thank you to everyone who’s shared feedback and followed up on this over the past months.
After further investigation, our engineering team has confirmed that this behaviour is caused by a security feature in Firefox. It’s designed to prevent clipboard access without user interaction, especially in cross-origin scenarios. You can read more about it here: Firefox Clipboard API – Security Considerations.
Because this is managed at the browser level, it’s not something Figma can resolve independently unfortunately.
That said, the current "Paste" prompt in Firefox seems not to block pasting. It just adds an extra step (a click) to confirm the action.
We totally understand how this impacts your workflow, especially with more users turning to Firefox and Firefox-based browsers. While we can’t change this behaviour directly, your feedback has been helpful in guiding our internal discussions.
Thanks again for your patience and thoughtful input!

Try setting dom.events.testing.asyncClipboard to true instead.
I guess the workaround was patched in some update.
When I paste an image in Figma using Firefox, Firefox shows a “Paste” button on the screen.
Can anyone tell me how to disable or stop this “Paste” button from appearing?
Thanks in advance!
