I love the new feature that allows multiple prototypes per page. One issue I’m having with it, is it assumes I want everything to be a new flow starting point each time I don’t link something from the first flow starting page.

It has a very linear mindset. When I work/prototype I tend to work on a section, then link it back and that creates many flow starting points on accident and I have to delete them.

It’d be nice if either - it only created the first one, and doesn’t assume you want many or there’s some kinda preference/setting where I can turn it off.

Do other people delete starting points or have work arounds? Or is there a preference/setting I’m missing where I can turn it off?

So frustrating! This “auto creating link” bug/feature keeps blocking viewers from navigating all the screens on the page when in viewer mode. It’s wasting designers’ time to remove it every time (it auto creates upon making any edit on the page).

It’s impossible to navigate between frames in prototype mode using just the ← → keyboard arrows. I have to delete the flow every time. PLEASE FIX THIS!

I’d like to express my frustration as well… This is getting annoying. I don’t want to remove all these flows all the time, please make it so that we can turn it off.

Running into this same bug (or intended behavior?) every day, when creating presentations it is very very annoying!! Figma creates a new Flow starting point whenever I touch the interactions in a presentation…

Literally my life right now…

Please remove the auto flow feature! It’s seriously deleterious to the workflow.

Am I crazy or now, a flow is automatically created and cannot be removed ? When I delete it, close my project and open it again. The flow is back… 😢

Please, remove the auto flow feature… because it breaks the presentation when we navigate with the arrow keys…

Having the same issue. I never want it to create an Flow Starting Point on it’s own.

It is REALLY detrimental when I have a page in my file that I use for a presentation. I send out the presentation link to people and it just randomly breaks on them so they can’t step through the presentation. The only way around this would be to link all the frames together and that would be a big waste of time for me. You can’t use it to present a deck if it keeps doing this.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE kill this feature!

+100 This is driving me up the wall!! Literally killing so much productivity.

This is screwing up my files and making me look like an idiot when I send something out and the ‘auto flow’ automatically inserted itself (after I’ve deleted it numerous times) and the deck becomes worthless as it’s now out of order and half the screens are missing and can no longer be accessed.

@fimga FIX THIS

Please @Figma_Support Please fix this. We dont want automatic flow. Remove this ASAP

Running into this behaviour over and over and over…

We often make these 100+ pages brand guidelines that should also be interactive, therefore we want the arrow keys to go back and forth because that’s the most natural way to navigate such a document for a client.

Currently we MANUALLY add both arrow key → ← interactions on EVERY frame because the Flow starting point comes back every time anyway…

Please @Figma_Support have a look at this silly thing!

is this gonna be fixed? it is terribly annoying, making me think about switching to another tool…

Oh dear… That’s insane what you’re dealing with. I wonder if a plugin might help? I haven’t looked very hard. Something that would make it easy to build a linear flow simply by selecting frames. The flow would automatically have the left and right arrow key interactions, so you don’t have to manually add them. Essentially you’d be building a simple prototype flow, but in much less time and with less effort.

The Protofly plugin kind of do this but… still, I would love to not have to rely on a plugin to do something as simple as an animated presentation

I’m having the exact same trouble with the presentations that my agency has been building with Figma for over two years now. This used to work perfectly fine until the behavior with flow starting points changed … and now there is literally no way to do this without pain and lot’s of manually removing flow starting points that Figma adds automatically all the time, even if you only close the file and open it again.

For interactive presentations, I would really wish to find a way again to have mouse clicks and arrow keys behave the same without having to add arrow keys connections for every frame … !

I feel you 🥲

Same problem here. We’ve been using Figma to create presentations for quite a while now. Lately, however, Figma adds random flow starting points to the slides (i.e frames) of presentations as soon as someone opens a file. This is not only very annoying but makes it increasingly difficult to prepare a reliable presentation that works as intended. We now painstakingly keep removing flow starting points yet it feels like we can never be sure there won’t be any bad surprises when delivering a presentation.

Adobe please listen to us on this issue. The first post is from 2 years ago.

I am having the same problem. Randomly added flow starting points keep the presentation trapped on that page. When removing the flow starting point, it again works like a regular presentation allowing others to use the arrow navigation buttons. But then another one will show up and break the presentation onto the one screen. Super annoying.

I have the same issue!!! It is especially painful because of this Problem navigating with arrow keys linearly through screens on prototype.

I think I will have to switch back to Invision to present the designs for clients. :-/

Please turn off auto creating Flow Points. I’ve always hated it and annoyed I have to go hunt for the Flow Point to delete it so I can navigate via keyboard arrow keys.

@Figma_Support How can this still be an issue after 2 YEARS of people complaining!?

What do you gain from keeping this as a forced feature?

Please Figma. I don’t want to be a slave to the Auto Flow.

I share all of the gripes that the other commenters do. This is a bug, and not a feature.
