Hi, im trying to make a “smart component” which would auto resize based on the length of a text label, as well as resize other elements in the components. i can successfully create a component with a text label which would automatically resize the frame/component based the length of the text, aka how you would make a normal make a dynamic button component by styling the parent frame, but for flexibility reasons i need the background of the button to be a separate component, that i can change and the effect will take effect multiple places, but i can’t seem to make this work with the ‘vanilla’ version of Figma, and would therefore like to ask if anyone out there have suggestions on how to achieve this, perhaps another layout plugin to assist, could point to related topics (already googled without much success). i have added an illustration to help trying to explain what i am trying to achieve and how i currently have it set up in Figma. thanks in advance 🙂 //Mads

Hi so I wanted to use the material icons from the figma file they shared on the community but the icons have too many variants that we dont need.  I was curious if there was a way to select multiple variants from each icon and delete them. That is a view of the icons. Each icon has 5 variants. I wanted to get the filled and outline but delete the rest for each icon. I was curious if there was a way to do that without breaking the component set.

Can someone help?So I made a bottom Nav Bar and it is fixed/no scrolling. It has animation inside it. Whenever I scroll and change the button, let's say from home to profile, it first snaps to another place then come back to the bottom of the screen. Any help will be appreciated.Video of the problem

How my design looks in Figma is completely different from how it looks on the browser.I mean talking about font sizes, and the dimensions of elements such as cards, images, etc. I want to know if there’s a solution to this? Like how do you determine the width and height of images, or cards confidently that it would look the exact same? Like if you have a two column hero section with the right column containing an image, how do you determine what the height of the image should be, and does it match completely in the site development stage?Do you even fuss about the width and height of these elements. Cause I waste a lot of time perfecting it, and I want to know how the pros do it.  Would mean a lot to me if you can guide me to the right direction. Thank you. 

I want to click on a date input field and it pops up a date picker and after selecting the date, the value is fed back to the date input field. I have created the date picker and I’ve been able to create the interaction from clicking the input field to open the date picker by using ‘Open Overlay’ but after selecting the date, and clicking on the Done button, I can only create interaction to click and ‘Close Overlay’ How to feed the date I selected on the date picker back to the input field is where I’m stuck. Please I need help. And its for a desktop prototype not a mobile prototype.

In the Figma prototype editor, the action I made for the filter button is visible. I’m referring to the Filters icon to the right of the search bar But in prototype demo mode, it isn’t clickable. I’ve tried reopening Figma and my browser. What can I do to make it work?  

I attempted to create an icon-sizer component that adjusts the dimensions of a set of componentized icons. When testing this icon, I notice that the color is preserved but the stroke width is reset when I swap the default nested icon to another icon (both with manual swap as well as setting up an instance swap property). I ensured that the icons have the same layer names as well as the same structure and I’ve also manually set the color and stroke width in the icon-sizer component. Is this a bug?

I have noticed that if I paste an instance the frame name that displays at the top left corner of the frame in grey text will be missing. The instance’s name is only visible under the layers bar. Is there a way/ work around to display the name of the instance? this is for display on a screen flow chart, it’ll be a lot easier to differentiate the frames if the name is next to the frame. Thank you community! 

I use a ton of arrows with descriptions whenever I am doing a user flow. I do a line for this, with an arrow tip. Quick and dirty by eye then go back and make sure everything is beautifully aligned and precise throughout the flow.I used to be able to select the anchor on Line A and the anchor on Line B and use the alignment panel to make sure those lines terminated in the exact same spot. I no longer seem to be able to do this and it’s driving me insane. With basic straight lines with only two points, I know I can just set the width evenly, but if the lines branch with out from straight lines I can no longer line the anchor points up.I want both of these blue lines to touch the pink line precisely using the alignment too. Not moving the entire line, just the anchor point of one to be aligned perfectly with the other. When I double click on Line A, I can only edit the anchors on Line A. If I hold shift and double click Line B after Line A is selected, there is no duel vector edit mode.

Hello ! I know that figma extension in VSCode is in beta, but when i installed the plugin in VSCode and then tried to click on the Log in button to login my Figma account, nothing happens. Does anybody else has the same issue ? Thanks ! Caroline

In Figma, how can I create a blurred rectangle behind a text box that expands dynamically as the text grows, while also being able to adjust the rectangle's transparency/effects separately from the text? I was trying to get chatgpt to help but it wasn’t working. Auto layout turns my rectangle into the frame which then has transparency and effects effect the text, which I don't want.

When I open the Figma app on ipad, it gives me a login page. I fill out the information, it sends me to my email for authentication, and then from there it sends me to Safari. If I go back to the Figma app, it remains on the screen that says “Check your inbox.” There doesn’t seem to get any way to get Figma to actually let me use the app. Is this an ongoing issue?

When I right-click on a page no menu appears in the Figma app. I only get a menu when I right-click in the layers panel. and I don’t have the top pane where the pen tool is (which I need), so I can’t make that panel appear without the menu.

Hi, it was always fine when i resize images in figma. But yesterday my images start to be smoothed on export. How to disable this? I cannot find any setting. I tried different browsers. Its a disaster
