Hi everyone, I’ve been using Figma’s custom bezier curves for a while now, and while they work great, I find myself frequently copy-pasting the same easing values across multiple components. This gets tedious, especially when I want to experiment with different easings for different elements. I’m curious if anyone has come up with a way to streamline this process or create more flexible solutions, like using variables for bezier curves, or any creative approaches that make managing multiple easing curves across components easier. Here are a few bezier curve names I’ve been working with: glide (0.5, 0, 0.5, 1) quick-snap (0.25, 1, 0.5, 1) Ideally, I want something like this in Figma where I would create Number variables and String variables and just plug them in and when I want to experiment I would just change the variables so I wouldn’t have to go through all my components to experiment with the easing: I’d love to hear any alternatives or tips you have for managing bezier curves a
Hi all, I am working on my portfolio and want to add external links to some parts of it. For the most part, I figured out how to do it. However, I couldn’t find any resource on how to add a ‘mailto’ link to the prototype. I’d appreciate it if someone who has done it before could lead me the way. Thanks!
Does anyone know why I don't see the circle cursor when I present my work?
Hi!Until recently, variable collections in Figma could be manually ordered using numbers or custom prefixes. However, I’ve noticed that now they seem to be sorted only by creation date, and my previous custom order is completely gone.On top of that, the collections I had carefully organized are now randomly shuffled, ignoring the structure I had set up.Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a bug or an intentional change?Any tips or workarounds to restore the custom order would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
HiI have an issue with changing the icon size in one of our components in our design system.I have created a tab selector, which looks like this:Tab selector with icons The tab selector is also needed in a smaller version. However the icon then looks very large compared to the smaller text:Small tab selector The structure of a tab button is like this:And is setup with these properties: The “icon-scaler” is created to control icon sizes as well as which icon is used. It works perfect when not nested inside another component. When used in the .tab-selector-button, I can no longer change icon size but I can still change the icon?I have no idea how to go about this and I cannot achieve what is achieved here:How to use an IconWrapper in FigmaMaybe I’m missing something? Thanks.
Since the most recent SVG export change, Figma is using `<foreignObject>` for gradients. foreignObject has a number of issues, for us most importantly it’s not possible to combine `<foreignObject>` and `<use>`. We use `<use>` to create SVG sprites for icons, but any icons with a gradient exported from Figma now break our sprites and makes it impossible to use `<use>`.See e.g. https://github.com/w3c/svgwg/issues/511Could we get an option where we don’t get perfect background blur support and similar, but avoid using foreignObject? Thanks.
I can’t create a color variables with existing in library color styles, they won’t appear in the list.As you see I have color styles in the file but they are not visible in variables menuMaybe I’m missing something?
Hi all. Please give me more details on the t parameter of the URL. ※ https://www.figma.com/design/{file key}/[file name]?node-id={node id}&t={???} Please let me know if you have a page with an explanation.
When I’m adding a new text property to a component which is nested inside another one the new text property content resets to the default when filled in, in the variant. All text properties are connected and have the same naming. IT is not happening to already existing components, but if I add a new text property to an existing component only the already existed ones will work.
https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056440594-Create-and-use-variantsButton component naming convention is not working. It appears to be wrong information on the linked page since Figma UI suggests something different in the Figma interface. Is the information on above page wrong about forward-slash naming method?
I’m brushing up on my design token learning and applying it to my design system. Is someone able to correct me on this if I'm wrong? So I’m redoing my design system variables because I realized I did something wrong. What is the correct naming convention? Let’s go by ‘text’Text color tokens are what I am redoing. Hello!I don’t understand why i’m not able to see the “Open session” button.I have already read the documentation here : https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/4410786053911-Invite-visitors-to-an-open-session : “Open sessions are only available on paid plans. This includes accounts with Education status. If you don't see the option to start an open session in the share modal, it usually means the file is still in your drafts. To start an open session in that file, you'll need to move it into a team space.”Our setup seems ok:We are on a Paid plan We have created a dedicated “Team” (because the previous team was hidden, i thought it was the issue), settings : Access : Anyone in “my company” can edit this team Team admins and owners can change this setting. I’m part of this team and i can edit I have created a figjam file inside this team When i open the “share” opti
Hello, so I recently created a toggle switch that is on an overlay. This switch functions properly and works to toggle my screens modes from light/dark. however when the overlay closes, the switch toggle resets. For example: I am on a light theme > opens overlay > toggles to dark theme (it works) > switch changes to toggled > closes overlay > reopens overlay > switch resets to non toggled. as you can see this messes with the point of the toggle, every time I open the overlay after toggling to dark theme, I'm having to toggle twice to change to light theme, instead of it being fluid. Does anyone have a fix for this?
Hello, I want to show my iPhone 13 app prototype on my iPad. However it isn’t fitting to its iPhone 13 screen size, it fills the whole ipad screen meaning you have to scroll up and down to perform actions. I would like it to show the whole screen and you can interact with it as it would be shown on an iPhone. Can someone help me with how to do this?
Hello everyone,I want to update my portfolio and that's where Figma Slides comes in. My thoughts are to recreate my new portfolio in the tool. So far I've always used Indesign, but I find it too static. Slides gives me a bigger playground and I think the animation feature is great. My question now is, if I create a presentation with small animations in Slides, are these also adopted when exporting as a PDF and if not, is the standard state displayed in the PDF or how does it behave?I can export an interactive PDF in Indesign. I can then integrate smaller animations such as hover on the button etc. there. What about Figma Slides, as I cannot choose between PDF and interactive PDF when exporting and I would like to keep the file size small.I look forward to your feedback.
Hi! It’s my first topic here :)I have a question about figma and it’s system requirements because I plan on investing into a new PC (windows) and I want to ensure it’s future proof and the specs I pick fit Figma’s needs. My current pain point is that I see a ton of lag on a 16GB RAM PC with moderate-level CPU. It’s a $800 type of budget pc that is 2 years old.And I need to know basically the following: On a 4k screen, to keep figma smoothly running with large files (50+ components, 20+ frames per page, 100+ variables etc) what do I need:Minimim RAM for smooth running; Is 64GB plenty even for the next 5 years of updates and features? What in the CPU does figma care about What in the GPU does figma care about, to what extend? Is it VRAM? Is there anything else?Of course I understand about keeping drivers up to date, working on the desktop app and so on.Thank you!
I am unable to fathom what am I getting on top of what I already was to justify a 33% price hike. Please help me understand?
When viewing a file and clicking the “Main” dropdown in the top left corner of the thumbnail, you'll see a preview of some branches you've creates-but not all of them. To view the full list, you need to go to the “See all branches” menu. Which branches are included in this preview? Are they the most recently created ones? Does it only show the branches from the last 30 days?
I’m currently creating a design system and when it comes to icons, i’m not sure what do to regarding the frames for the icons and padding inside it. Google Material UI recommends to have 24x24px frames for the icons and that you add padding so that your icon is 20x20px inside the frame. But that seems weird to me, if i do that, my paddings are going to be off. I have a 8pt grid, and let’s say I have some text and an icon, if I set my padding to 8px, in reality the distance between the icon and the text is going to be a bit more than 8px. I stumbled across an article about design systems recommending something like that. That seems more appropriate to have a pixel perfect design. But most of the ressources I find follow the general rules of material UI regarding icon frames. What do you guys think ? What method do you use for your icons ?
Before when I had an object selected and hovered over another, it told me the distance between them in pixels. Since the new update, I have to go into Dev mode to see this. How can I see the distance between objects in design more?
Hey everyone, I have a friend who is new to Figma and I was going to recommend to them to check out this resource on learning how to best utilize the tool. But then it got me thinking there might be more additional resources to recommend. So if you’re a Figma expert, what resources do you recommend? Looking forward to seeing your recs!
Hello, Figma Community! I’m exploring the process of duplicating an existing library within my team and have several questions about how this impacts both the original and the duplicated libraries. I appreciate any insights or experiences you can share! Notifications to Team: When I duplicate a library, does the team receive any notification about this new duplicate? Connection Between Original and Duplicated Libraries: After publishing the duplicated library, is there any link or connection back to the original library? In other words, does the duplication process create any dependencies or ties between the two? Impact on the Original Library: By duplicating a library, is there any risk of altering or damaging the original library in any way? Preservation of Library Elements: Does duplicating a library ensure that all variants, functions, and components from the original library are carried over? More importantly, will these elements function as intended in the duplicated library? Up
Is there anyway I can recover those files?
Привет! Не могу зайти в приложение на десктопе. Когда открываю, в браузере не появляется вкладка для логина в приложении. Впн включала, компьютер перезапускала Пишет Go to Browser to complete login Go back and try again нажимала И все….
I’ve already fixed typo of a color style variable name from Bg-Reverse-A00 to Bg-Reverse-A100 But still got old JSON data:```bash curl -H "X-Figma-Token: <my-token>" "https://api.figma.com/v1/files/<my-file-id>/styles"``` I tried to suffix the URL with “?timestamp=random_number” but still got the same old data.
