Hi everyone!I have just started out to learn FIGMA, with a focus on learning UI and UX. I’m just lost in a sea of information and resources on Youtube and other platforms. Can you please help me with some straightforward channels and other resources that I could learn from without spiralling out and get lost. A consistent problem I have faced till now is that the tutorials seem outdated as in the creator/instructor teaching FIGMA is using a different version and as I follow along the buttons, menu and other layouts placed are different than my current versions and I end up spending more time on google for searching where this button is currently located in my version or so. Can you all help me with this with some good resources, I do  not want to learn from a bootcamp style courses, unless it has some really good social proof or review or you have personally went through the bootcamp and have benefitted from it.

I have a file with a single component. Every instance can be followed to the main component in the documentation present in same file. I want to publish the file library so later I can Cut+paste it into another component library.On the last step before publishing I have “Added (?)” message next to a few components (that work before publishing) saying:“This component was moved to another file. Publishing this new copy won’t update instances in other files.”The component wasn’t moved to another file. After publishing the library despite this message all local instances are detached and my only option to follow back to a component is to “Restore main component” - but the component was there anyways. When I click on “Restore main component” it places the same component on top of main component that was previously present.When I delete the one that doesn’t work and publish the library again, same thing happens. Hey guys, hope you're doing well.I am struggling to understand how this part of Figma works a bit so let me ask you a question.I hope I can explain it well:So basically you see the bottom element is icon and text. I want to be able to toggle between the different sizes I want to be able to toggle the icon next to the text to be big, middle or small as on the second row. I want with every size to be able to choose different color, for example I choose the small circle with the text I wanna see how it looks like with red, after with green and after with blue. And same for the middle and the big sizes. I guess the sizes must be component with 3 variables, and the colors should be instance swaps? Hi everyone!I’m currently building a design system for my company we have already a Figma Enterprise license, and we’re leveraging the API to sync design tokens with dev team. So far, things have worked well when it comes to color variations at the component level — we’re able to extract and sync those successfully. However, we’ve hit a bit of a roadblock: The Figma API doesn’t seem to expose component-level values for corner radius, padding, or spacing — at least not in a way we can reliably use for token sync.While color tokens are accessible, properties like padding or radius that vary across component variants (e.g. input/small vs input/large) aren’t available through the API in the same way. I’m wondering: Is there a workaround or best practice for syncing these kinds of values via the API? Any help, insights, or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

I am building a plugin where we need to let the users to authenticate via SSO. These users are governed by internal IT policies and hence can’t use OAuth. Are there examples/primer on how to use SSO for authentication for Figma Plugins?

When exporting using @2x, @3x, etc multipliers, Figma not only doubles the resolution (width x height) it also doubles the DPI of the image. I’ve been told by Figma on twitter that this is by design. My question is why? DPI is useful for print, but digital screens and devices completely ignore DPI when rendering an image. All they care about is the resolution. I know this sounds wrong, but it’s a fact. An image that is 100x100 will display the same on screen regardless of it is 72 or 144 DPI. High Density screens rely on larger resolutions (i.e. double the size, triple the size) and then pixels are doubled or tripled to get the high-quality look of retina or High DPI images. Also, if screens really did respect DPI, then doubling the DPI would be enough to support these screens. There would be no need to also double the resolution. I need a pdf cheat sheet of the shortkeys for macOS.  the reason i need it in pdf is so that its reliable.  What i mean is is figma is so hard i would have to cuss to explain the problems i’m facing.  school is requiring me to go thru the old 4 tutorials which, because of the change in format since the video, i’m in hell right now.  i need a pdf so that i can open in in a side by side window.  figma is squirrelly as i could ever imagine.  i tried to load the cheat sheet in  to my desktop app of figma, but i can’t find it.  please Figma, take this as the worst feedback you could imagine.  I despise my situation that i’m in… having to figure out this crazy program.

I’ve been using Cursor to vibe code some screens to help me speed up prototyping, which has been super helpful up until a certain point. When I needed to expand the prototype, I found myself wishing I could just pull the main screens back into Figma with all the design system components already in place.So far, the closest I’ve gotten is exporting HTML/CSS files, but I still need to manually rebuild them in Figma. The design system were built on React. Has anyone looked into this?

I want to change a variant and open an overlay with “Position: Manual” after a “click trigger” in Figma. The trigger performs both actions, but the overlay opens as “Centered” instead of “Manual.” Any suggestions? Thank you!

I’m trying to create the following scenario in my Figma prototype: There is an input field and a disabled button. Once the user types at least 3 characters, the button is enabled. Is there a way to use conditionals and variables in Figma to do this? Hey everyone, I am creating a tinder-like app for my class final (due today!!) and everything was working fine until we sent it out for user testing and started to see that at times the prototype will crash and just produce a white screen. We have tried it on multiple different devices and no dice. It is 4144KB when downloaded with variable, smart animations, components etc.We see the crash most often when executing the swipe feature.Any assistance would be great! Here is the file: White 

I am working on a mobile prototype and want my users test it in the browser from mobile phones (not using Figma app). I made a proto for iPhone 13 dimensions and of course when you open it in browser, the screen dimension is smaller due to browser nav and status bar. I want my proto to fir the screen (may have empty space on the left and on the right) but the proto height will be fitted to the screen. Fir the screen in settings doesn’t work.

I’m on a mac and I can’t log into the desktop app.I can log into the web based version but when I clicked ‘open in desktop app’ it opens the app and asks me to log in again - I’m going round in circles!!!  😵‍💫What is going on?

Let me give you some context: in my organisation we created our design system ui kit by having a foundation library, that would serve as base for the components and then two secondary libraries (Web and Native) in order to plug the instances from Foundation.We did this because originally we envisioned the Web ui to be quite different from Native one; the problem is that, this differentiation never happened and now we are stuck with two libraries that look essentially the same; this means that every time we create a component, we do it Foundation, we publish it and then plug it in Web and Native libraries and make components out of them. Hi all,I’ve created a form field component that needs to be used across multiple clients. Each client may require slight changes to the styling—such as hover color, border, and text appearance—to match their branding.The issue I’m facing is that when I use the component for a new client and try to adjust the colors, it doesn’t work as expected. One option would be to create variants for each client, but with dozens of clients, that could get messy very quickly.Is there a better way to handle this? Would using variables be a good solution? I’m looking for a way to keep the component reusable while still allowing client-specific customizations.Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm experiencing super weird behavior all of the sudden - Desktop Figma on MacOS, 15.4.1.Text that I copy from one simple frame (a blank slide or rectangle) won't paste inside another after selecting that other frame to paste in. It either pastes in the space between frames or in the original frame.And this follows behavior in which it WAS pasting in a new frame, but in the center of it rather than where it was originally positioned in the first frame! WTH is going on? No different with paste in place or paste here.However, shapes and other frames paste as expected. Help!

I'm working on a website section. When I hover over the 'Apple' button, I want the Apple image to appear on the left. I’ve tried using variables, but the images flicker. I’m not sure how to set it up properly to make it work. Thanks!(additional details: If by default no buttons is hovered, it will display “Fruit” image) Don’t wanna make the entire section into a component variant, I have title and description too.
