EDIT:
After updating Chrome problem seems to be resolved. Working with the browser app for few hours now and everything works fine.
Since lately (3 days now) I experience shortcuts conflict when using Figma on Chrome.
Using shortcuts like:
cmd + shift + g;
cmd + d;
cmd + shift + h
trigger Chrome actions instead of Figma actions, but only when my cursor is in the context of a sidebar, e.g. after expanding layer’s content and trying to expose a hidden layer found inside. This is HUUUGE problem since there is no other (simple) way to select a hidden layer without using the context of sidebar tree view.
I havent experienced problems of this kind before and now its ruining my productivity. Please, help!
I use Chrome and Mac Sonoma (14.4.1) on Macbook pro M1
Hi there! This looks odd. As a first troubleshooting, can you try to clear out the Chrome cache? You can follow these instructions: Clear cache & cookies - Computer - Google Account Help
I would also suggest checking the browser extensions and disabling them to see if that helps improve anything.
If the issue still persists, can you please share a quick video recording and specify your laptop and browser specs to the support team via this form: here
Our team can have a deeper look into this. Thank you!
Thanks for the detailed feedback and video! This looks definitely odd. As clearing the cache doesn’t help, can you reach out directly to the support team here with your video recording, and a copy of your file: here
Be sure to use your Figma account email, include a link to the file, and share it with support-share@figma.com, so we can take a closer look.
Our technical specialist can try to replicate and investigate what’s the causing this. Thanks!
It is also not possible to remove layer with the “Delete” key if the layer is previously selected in the layer tree (focus state is set there). If you click on the same layer in the canvas it works. The same behavior is with Ctrl+D. Instead of duplicating the layer, the tab is marked as a bookmark.
It doesn’t always seem to be the case, but very often and drives me crazy.
PS: I tried the tip with clearing the cache - without success.
Edit:
Also, if an layer is selected in the layer panel (layer tree), using the arrow up/down keys don’t reorder or move the elements. Instead of that the scroll position within the layer panel is changing.
Hey everyone – thanks all for flagging this. Please note that the engineering team are investigating this issue now with CMD + D .
We will let you know as soon as we have an update. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
I was experiencing the same shortcut issues in the browser last week. I tried clearing cache, updating Chrome, relaunching the browser and restarting the machine, all without success. I switched to desktop app to circumvent this issue. Today, I updated Chrome once again, took Figma for a super quick test drive, and the issue seems to have been resolved. Although as @Jacek4 mentioned idk if this issue will return after using the app in the browser for a longer while.
FWIW @Celine_Figma my issue was not limited to CMD + D, but many common shortcuts that included CMD+keys (like: CMD + X, CMD + C).
Currently running macOS Sonoma Version 14.3; Chrome Version 124.0.6367.80
I’m having the same issue, and it seems to be intermittent. Sometimes when I hard refresh the browser, the shortcuts work for a while before being broken again.
Like some of the others said, cmd+g opens “find on page” for me, cmd+d opens browser bookmark, and delete straight up doesn’t work. Seems to be chrome only, and my current workaround is using the desktop app or menu>edit>delete Restart, update, refresh, clear cache, disabling chrome extensions - none of it helped.
Currently running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1, Chrome Version 124.0.6367.80
Hi there!
Thanks for the details. Our team is still investigating the shortcuts issue. I have added to our bug report. To better follow up your case, it would be also great if you can reach out directly to the support team please: here
This will help to our technical specialist to collect some additional data and investigate further. Thank you!
Hi everyone! For some users, the issue has been fixed by upgrading to the newest version on Chrome.
Can you try upgrading to the newest version and check if the same issue occurs? (The newest is Version 124.0.6367.93 at the moment).
Here is an article how to Update Google Chrome - Computer - Google Chrome Help . Please let us know, thank you!
This is still not fixed! Running Chrome Version 127.0.6533.72 and experiencing exact same issues described above. For example, trying to duplicate and element using Ctrl + D triggers Add/Edit Page Bookmark on Chrome. Ctrl + Shift + R (paste to replace) triggers Chrome Hard Reload. Using shortcut keys is very frustrating now, as they no longer work as expected.
Hey @Alexandru_Stoicescu , sorry to hear this is not still working on your end.
I’d suggest you to reach out directly to the support team for further investigation: here
Be sure to use your Figma account email, include a quick video recording if you are able to and your desktop spec so we can investigate it further on our end. Thank you!
Hey Celine, I don’t see the need to create a video or this, All the needed information and videos are already here in this topic. Also I already explained that the issues everyone described in this topic still occur. Upgrading to the latest Chrome version is NOT a fix. You can’t rely on Chrome updates, instead the conflict between Chrome and Figma shortcuts should be actively corrected by your devs.
Sorry for the miscommunication here, it is to double check the issue on your end and to better follow up your issue via the support (as in our bug report, it’s been resolved from the user’s end by updating Chrome.)
As you said you have the exact same issue, I’ve shared it in our bug report as it could be a regression. The engineering team will investigate it further, sorry again for the trouble! We will keep you posted if we need any additional information. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
Edit UPDATE: @Alexandru_Stoicescu , the engineering team would like to have more information on your end. Can you please share more details, as sequence of actions that you are taking before noticing that these shortcuts are broken? This will help us to investigate it. Thank you for your help!
Problem came back and this time updating Chrome doesnt solve it. It’s exactly the same as I described in the first post. Guys, please do something about.
Fortunately for me I’m starting 2 week vacation tommorow, but take care all of you, who is just frustrated as I am every time cmd+shift+H clears your tab instead of hiding an element.
