Inconsistent behavior when pasting object into a selected frame

Has anyone else noticed the relatively new issue where pasting an object into a frame while that frame is selected produces wildly inconsistent behavior?

For example, sometimes my selected frame is ignored and the object just pastes in place.

Sometimes the object pastes in the ‘correct’ location on the frame, but is not nested within the frame I’ve selected.

My expected behavior is that when I have a frame selected, and I paste my object, that object should be pasted (and therefore nested) into the selected frame.

I swear this wasn’t an issue until the past few months. Did something change or am I doing something wrong?

It should be in the selected frame. If it’s copied from another frame the x/y should be the same relative to the source frame or the centre if out of bounds
