Same here. I need this!

Toby_Fitch_HE_HIM

+1. I manage a large design system with thousands of customers, this is very heavily needed.

Sheri_Atwood

+1 Much needed especially since projects get so big and then Figma is so SLOW to use

Matt_Cassity

Would love to be able to drag a page from one figma to another … I have a few toolkit pages I like to have in various projects

Kasia_Ciesla

+1 on this. Cutting and pasting into a new file changes styles.

+1 keeping this alive, rly need to be able to move pages between files

Sean_Everett

Ditto. A ‘Move’ feature would be a great addition to the product suite.

Hi, I am Patrick and working for the Swiss Railway Company.

I would like to design files in a personal file, before handing them over to a file called “for developing”.
How can I do it? And how can I copy also the comments with it?

Thanks a lot for any hints!

Hi @Patrick_Rosset1 ,

I don’t think that you can copy comments to a new file, it is easy to duplicate a file but I’m not sure that its a good idea going forward?

From your description it sounds like you want to do developer handoff when you are “done” designing, and do not want the developers to view/comment your design before you are ready for it?

Here are some alternatives that you might consider, depending on your setup, timeframe and team-size:

  1. keeping everything in the same file, and allow developers to inspect/comment. You can have more pages, and a page called “for developing” where you move your design (and comments) when you think they are ready. (They can see all pages)

  2. have two files: 1 for you with components and 1 for the developers with instances of the components. That way you control when your components are published to the “developer”-file.

  3. Do a more controlled handoff with a tool like Zeplin, there is a integration with Figma: Figma faster with Zeplin · Zeplin . This allows you to have your design and changes “hidden” from developers until you decide to publish it.

I hope it gave you some hints 🙂

/Jan

+1 This issue is marked ‘solved’ but it really isn’t. It’s very difficult to work on large, lengthy projects in Figma without the ability to move pages around. Copy/paste is still not reliable enough to use without losing connections to components and their overrides.

Almagra_Co
  1. Tries to drag & drop a page into another tab.
  2. Tries selecting + cmd+C from one page to another.
  3. Tries to look for the feature in the page context menu.
  4. Gives up. Asks Google: “move pages between files Figma”
  5. Finds this thread.
  6. Notices this issue hasn’t been solved yet.
  7. Agrees with everything everyone said.

+1 (pls plz plx)

Literally just did the same thing Almagra_Co did.

vera_krautwurst

+1 highly needed feature to keep the hygiene of Figma files as they are often in different stages and ready for different types of audiences in the process

if the issue with copying over the comments could be addressed would be awesome

Jin_Reynoso

please consider this. it’s so hard to link everything again if you’ve ran out of memory space. this is what i’m facing right now. It’s just tooooooooooo complicated to redo everything. I just want to swap components from the copied file with the original components they are from

Agreed - really need this feature. I now can’t move a file when it should be in a different project because I will lose all my prototype links.

+1, yea, need this here too.

Chris_Fenn

This feature would be very useful +1

Deborah_Beckwin

➕ 1️⃣ , ditto ditto ditto. So annoyed that I am about to lose a bunch of comments. 😓

Rakesh_Ameta

+1 useful feature

Kate_Mulcahy

How is this still not implemented. Expecially when so often pages use up too much memory, so you have to move out entire pages…

this seems like a pretty reasonable, table stakes ask

Scott_Robinson

I have a large project with 6 complex prototypes that I would like to split up as I have memory issues. The only way I can do it is by duplicating the file 6 times and removing the other 5 prototypes. Copy and pasting produces loads of error with nested components even between pages. It really disappointing as I expect copying and pasting between PAGES and PROJECTS to JUST WORK. I don’t care about comments personally. It is more interactions and overrides.

This will continue to be an ongoing issue as the discovery and testing of prototypes need to take place on the same project as the final version (which has a different audience) due to these copying issues. It is not always possible to maintain the same structure for the duration of the project. Figma needs this very simply and obvious functionality.

keeping this alive…
Needing this functiuon badly

Wes_Plate

I’m relatively new to Figma. I created a new file to ideate on something, Figma made a Draft for me. Ok, now I want to share my work with the team. I have my own file, but the team has all their work in their own file, so I want to copy this page I made into their file. I can’t? Like everyone else, surprised this feature hasn’t been added yet.
