Pretty simple ask: I want to move a page from one Figma to another. I don’t see a way to do it.
Select All + Cut + Paste is not a good solution as I might have locked objects that don’t come with the copy and there might be properties set on the page (background color, etc.) that I might lose.
+1 this would be an enormous help
+1 - our product has gotten so big , what we used to use a ‘file’ for we need to split out into a project with separate smaller files, but we need to keep original pages as alllllll our jira tickets are attached to those pages… this seems like a huge miss if we can’t move pages → files within projects
super +1 on this. reorganizing work as files grow is a huge use case
+1 to keep the +1s rollin’
Yes, Definitely! We had some inconsistencies due to forks in the project and now we need to reconcile files, and this is the way to go to make it possible 🙂 Thanks!
Yes, I need this too! +1
Count me in the “surprised this isn’t a thing, so can it be, please?” camp. 🙂
+1 - it’s such a big drawback. If you don’t get your structure right at the start, you’re stuck forever trying to cram a now mammoth product into one file.
+1.
Want to move a page to a new design system version. Do not want to redo all the linkages from this branch.
Hey @Nick_Baxter, maybe this archiving workflow could work for you: Archiving pages in a file - YouTube.
@Clara Hey Clara, thanks for that! Kinda hacky but definitely a potential solution.
not much of a solution.
Seems bizarre that this isn’t possible. I have loads of pages I want to consolidate in one file
Ya, please support/consider to work on this feature. You would think it’s a pretty standard feature but it’s still not existed yet.
I don’t need this, but I want it. 🙂 +1
actually need this badly.
- also need this
This should’ve been implemented from the start.
+1. Seems like such an intuitive and necessary function, yet it doesn’t exist.
TLDR:
To move pages, or duplicate pages across design files can only be done copying and pasting. This loses comments and abilty to keep master components. This is bad. Please fix. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Our current workflow is like this:
Notes:
Project > Design Files > Pages > layers.
ex. Movie App > Ideation > Home Page Layout Redesign V1 > Header/V1
- We create a Design file within a project with the name “Ideation.”
- In the Ideation design file, we create pages that contain diffferent ideations. Users vote on the best system.
- The winning pages gets taken out to their dedicated design file, ex. Homepage, About, etc.
The issue here is step 3. The only solution right now is to manually copy and paste the Page Name and all the Frames over to the new location. Although Figma has a “Move to Project” function, it also needs to have a “Move to Design File” function. By copying and pasting, we lose all the comments and master components don’t get moved over.
If anyone knows a better solution for this, please advise. Otherwise, Figma, please update.
Thank You.

Hi, thanks for sharing and facing the same challenge! Please consider removing duplicated replies tough.
Agreed! We need a feature like this for files that have pieces flying around. A simple “move page to file” would be great!
Also agree. Kind of strange no one thought of this yet
+1, definitely. As a recent convert from being a 10 year Sketch user (it’s sad seeing them making their app unnecessarily complex regarding a lot of issues that are simple here, like variants, and styles etc.), the one thing that I thought would be simple is moving/copying pages between files.
I hope that Figma is working on it as it’s an obvious thing to need to do (as well as Dark mode ffs). Loving Figma though, these guys have done a truly amazing job, on many fronts!
