It would be a game changer if child-elements could stack from horizontally to vertically when you change the width of the parent element. I want to create a parent-container that allows me to change it’s width but have the child-elements act kinda like inline elements (like text) and cascade vertically-downwards (like text) when the parent-element width changes to a lower width than the sum of the containing child-elements. See image (attached). Seems like this should be really simple to do in a future update. It would supercharge the application in terms of being able to create responsiveness components and screens without having to create different screens for each screen width. Perhaps it could appear in the Auto layout section like so:
As a user, I’d like to change the default tab presented on the component update request. Currently, (for performance and bandwidth reasons) the default tab is “Current Page”. This could be useful for some controls. However, my workflow requires all components to be systematically updated. If I forget to change the tab to “All pages”, I end up with inconsistencies in my prototyped users journeys. Give us the opportunity to choose the generic method we want. Thank you
Can we add a shortcut in Figma to add connectors? Having to copy/paste connectors from FigJam is definitely not a good experience (And they already work well in Figma so the effort is pretty small) Connectors are one of the most important supporting elements to create flows for designers.
Browsers allow you to control a major branding element – the colour of the browser status bar. You can match this to your brand and it has a significant impact on the look of your brand. Figma is a website design tool but does not give you control of this. On the web, this is controlled simply by adding the color of your choice to your tag: <meta name="theme-color" content="#000000"> Right now, Figma always sets this to black (ex on: https://www.figma.com/mirror). Upvote so we can see a true preview of how our mobile sites can look! Would be very easy to add.
Hi! I spent quite some time until I realized what it was happening. We got a request to support iPhone SE (3rd generation), but when I selected the frame size in Figma called iPhone SE I got a screen way smaller than what I was expecting (320x568). After some research I realized that I needed to select iPhone 8 since it has the same size as the iPhone SE (3rd gen) (375x667). A nice to have here would be to add the generation close to the name iPhone SE. Thanks!
Greetings. I was surprised that there’s no option to retrieve an element name (name you set in Layers panel) within a Text property. I have an input with its label (on the left) that I put in a component. As you can see, the component is called “Inputs Set”. And I was trying to put that component name in my “label” text element so that it would have “Inputs Set” value. When I searched online I found dynamic values that I thought could be used (like instance.mainComponent.parent or instanceVariant.mainComponent.parent.name) but that’s obviously not how it works: By doing that, my aim was to retrieve the name of an instance and put its value in a Text element - here “Label” Text element. So that Form ID instance’s label Text would have “Form ID” instead of “Label”; “Requester” instead of “Label” etc… Could you help please? Thank you.
We are working with another creative agency and they send some design audits. These are screenshots with added comments. The file they sent is read only. We would like to add all the comments to our amends tracker. Unfortunately, there is no way to get the comments out of the file in bulk as plugins are not allowed, copying the file does not copy the comments and Figma does not offer any comment export natively. The comment feature in Figma is ok, but would be infinitely more useful if comments could be exported from read only files as well.
Love the new variable capability with Figma, but think there should be some toggling of use cases for different users. As a small web user, as opposed to a large-scale product, I still would love to still use styles for my colors instead of variables. It would be nice to set this “toggle” at a team level to “never use variables for colors” instead of having to manually change that tab every single color I save. Please add some customization for variable settings.
I have been facilitating different workshops and sometimes it is required that all sticky notes are anonymous so people can make sure they can speak freely. While the option of toggling on/off the sticky note’s author is good. That’s not enough because anyone can still enable that by clicking on that action. My suggestion is to have an option to enable anonymous sticky notes in a particular FigJam file.
I want to create an auto layout carousel that has drop-shadow for each of the components while hovering. The carousel is designed to be showing half of the last visible component, so I enabled ‘clip content’…However, the problem is that it crops the drop-shadow…This is really annoying. Please enable a feature that exclude the clipping of shadow effects
Onboarding experience needs work for potential new customers. I want a one-stop app that’s easy but I want to see it in action, first. I’d suggest you let the free trial experience everything the app has to offer. I’m only one day in, and already told I’ve reached my limit, can’t do this or that. Seems counter intuitive to make me feel frustration already Haha! I want to experiment with everything and see if I like it for awhile. But facing roadblocks everywhere is a big turn off. Not much incentive for me to take time here when we have other competing apps already doing what I want.
Currently, when I click to present a design, a new tab opens to the right of the file I was working in. When I then press Command + W to close the tab, the tab to the right of the prototype is opened instead of the previous one. This is annoying to me, and I don’t imagine I’m the only one with this problem. I am coming from an XD workflow, where it was quite simple to press Command + Return to run a prototype, and then closing that window returned me to the design file in question.
Would be useful for easy spacing when auto-layout might not be an option.
I’d love to see AI used in Figma to help designers supercharge their workflows and consistency. AI-Powered Component and Pattern Matching: A feature that allows designers to query existing team design files for similar components and interaction patterns. Designers could quickly identify if a component or interaction they are planning to create already exists within their team’s project files, thereby enhancing consistency and reducing duplicate work. The tool can contain links to or previews of files containing similar components or interaction patterns, including specific details like page and frame where these components are located. For teams using either Figma or 3rd party tools to document their design systems, this feature could extend its capabilities by querying the design system documentation directly from Figma. Designers could ask if a component they intend to use is appropriate for their use case based on the design system guidelines, ensuring alignment with established s
Right now a component with lots of variants is fully loaded into page memory making large components fill memory fast. It’d be awesome if there were a checkbox in the component settings that allowed variants to be lazy loaded. Switching options on a component would then take more time, but at the benefit of only having layers in use loaded in memory.
Many fonts don’t have super script and sub script support, so they’re disabled (at least all the font I need to use). I know some fonts have built-in symbols for TM, SM, R, C, etc, but in many cases, they’re not superscripted or inconsistently so. It would be great if Figma supports faux Super Script, where you can highlight any characters, make them smaller, and adjust the positioning. (similar to how our engineering friends would implement it using and CSS to fine tune)
When managing my hundreds of users in Admin>Members. The column called “Last Active” shows something, but definitely not what I’d expect from that title. Example: When sorted by Last Active, it shows that tens of users haven’t been active in 2 months, but when I check their full activity one by one, some of them, in the middle of that 2mo group, have actually logged in 20 days ago 🤷🏽‍♂️ and some of them edited something 38 days ago - that is also not 2 months in most people’s calendars! Proposals for clear yet simple solution: Show last activity in days (until it reaches 90, then show months). Calculate anything they do in Figma/FigJam as user activity.
Hello Figma, Can you add repeat grid functionality in Figma, which is a very beneficial to all the users.
PLZ save unposted comments. Often times I start typing smth, like an update for copy for my UX designer to update in a frame only to discover I need to copy it from ChatGPT or something. But when I am back with the copy whatever I started typing in a comment window is gone. Pain…
I have a button and depending of user case it must open 2 or 3 different overlays. I would like to connect the same element that should lead to different overlay (with option “Open random” it might be applied on Prototype)
I want to randomly load a different splash screen every time my prototype starts. I want this to happen without any user interaction - no clicking needed. They just open the prototype and see a different splash screen every time, so that they seem randomly chosen. Can I do this? I know how to fake it - the thing where you click a button that’s quickly/invisibly cycling through variants that take you to different links - but I don’t want that, I want this to happen without any user interaction. Can I do it?
When working on a Figma File. It crashes in between and it says it Figma Ran Into An Error and I have to refresh again.
Since Scaling Icons or Components through width and height does not scale strokes and font sizes, how about adding a number variable to the scale factor of the scale tool and also add that scale property to the general frame position and size controls (maybe next to “clip content”? Whole components scaled via the scale tool with variable modes would be faster than creating endless tables of sizing parameters for each element you need to scale (strokes, text size, effects…) where you do not need precise control of each property.
The new update in the seats name says the Dev Mode is only able in the Full seat, previously known as Editor. In my company, we want to give the developers the ability to use Dev Mode, but not give them permission to Edit the file. Maybe add a cheaper seat than the Full one only for Dev Mode so the devs can actually see all the useful information without moving by accident anything of the design?
It would be really cool if Figma had a native Wireframe library that housed common elements for rapid prototyping built into the design section. Think of it like Figma’s proprietary design system for its users.
