Hello 👋

First, I’m happy about the opportunity where I can make an impact on this amazing product.

My idea is pretty simple but can make a huge difference in the way we share files with stakeholders and colleagues. I suggest adding the ability to give different access (viewer/editor) for pages within a Figma file.

Because in most cases, we’re trying to include a whole project, feature, or function, whether small or big, in one Figma file - it becomes a real pain-point if the lowest level of grant permissions it’s the file itself instead of the pages within the file.

I’m sure a lot in this community can agree with me that many times you gave people access - it was relevant to certain areas of the file, and less to other areas.

  • I want to give content writers access to a specific page where they can edit and review content.

  • I want to give developers access to a specific page where they can play with responsive layers and explore edge-cases.

  • I want to leave experiments (Some would call it a playground, sandbox 😃) and previous versions to myself, to avoid background noises from the rest

The current situation is that I give everyone viewers access, each one of them looking for his relevant place among the information load and I avoid giving an editor access to prevent touching what they should not touch by mistake 🙄

What do you think about it?

Of course, feel free to vote if you agree with the idea.

When sharing files with external team members it would be great to have a feature that helps us control which pages are visible.

For example, this would be helpful on a page that is still a work in progress and not ready to be viewed while the rest of the file is ready to be shared.

Ok Figma team. When is this going to happen?

I will join the community on this one: I need to be able to navigate in one file but don’t want the pages that are just notes, new ideas etc. being visible to whole teams within my organization.

YES!!! Please add this feature! We work with large teams with many stakeholders that need to review content and even when we send a link to one particular screen or page, some of them start to lurk and ask questions about screens that aren’t ready. Yes we’ve communicated this to them to not do that but people still do. So it would be great if we can solve this problem at the product level instead of trying to change human behavior. Please!!

This is an awesome idea! For teams that have to share files with different crews would make a great difference in file management.

How does this idea have so many replies and hasn’t been integrated yet? This idea started almost 3 years ago! The community is screaming for it. Let’s go Figma! 🙌🏼

Hey Figma,

maybe you should talk to Kevin03 who presented a working website for this. Copy his website and implement it in Figma and you’re good to go.

His website:

monocle.magicul.io

Bumping this because this feature is much needed!

Yes! That would be so helpful… Best

Whoa, one (awful) surprise after another - I’m just switching from Adobe XD to Figma and there are so many simple, decent features missing in Figma, this is one of them.

I’d like Figma to have the sharing links feature as simple and helpful as XD - you create prototypes, you generate links (for design review or for development inspect) and you get to share the pieces you want to share with whom you want to share.

Isn’t obvious enough how bad the sharing is now? I don’t want people seeing the entire project with the tons of pages…nor do they. ☹

Voting for this feature as its much needed!

+1 for this feature

We work with multiple teams, external contractors and clients and use Figma as a central point for a project, giving access to individual pages would be so helpful

+1. The current workaround of duplicating files is even worse when we’re talking about big files. It would improve many people’s workflows if we could share only certain pages and even lock them with a password if needed.

Figma offers a really frustrating workflow when it comes to sharing the design for review with clients. Sharing with clients is extremely important because we are all running a business and the only reason we design, prototype and develop products is for them. I was using XD and sharing work was a joy for everyone, including my developer. XD was allowing multiple flows in the same documents to be shared independently and you could chose between Design Review mode for comments, Development, Presentation, User testing and even chose custom parameters. Once uploaded online you simply had to copy the generated url, paste the link in an email to the client and wait for comments. I am such disappointed to have listen to so many people who were trying to convince me that Figma is better in all aspects, but this prouves not be true. Before saying XD was crap they should have at least try it to understand it was better to deal with the ones who make us earn a living, “the clients”.

so much this!

Please +1 for me. I would love to have this feature.

+100 for this one!!! It would be so helpful.

Adding a comment for visibility. Would be a very helpful feature to have!

++ c’mon …

This is a problem. First off, I don’t want prying eyes in my design. Ever. But as soon as I send a link, visitors seem to have access to everything. I would like to be able to select just one page - like a “For Review” page - so I can show off what is ready for review only.

Also, I really struggle with the fact that people are watching me work. That they can see what I’m doing live as soon as I’ve shared something. I mean, it’s great when I work together with other designers, but it freaks me out when I’m just designing and suddenly I see the client popping in, watching me.

Restricting sharing to selected pages would be so great.

It would be nice to know if this is being looked into, even if it’s just a feature that can be used as a workaround (lets say, hide pages from view-only accounts), this has been an ongoing conversation for so long for it to be left untouched or unnoticed.

Need this basic feature? What could you be planning by not adding this feature?

+++ Really need this, add this basic feature?

Much needed!

So so so so needed! come on Figma this can’t be a difficult thing to achieve. Even better would be to share only a section
