Hello 👋

First, I’m happy about the opportunity where I can make an impact on this amazing product.

My idea is pretty simple but can make a huge difference in the way we share files with stakeholders and colleagues. I suggest adding the ability to give different access (viewer/editor) for pages within a Figma file.

Because in most cases, we’re trying to include a whole project, feature, or function, whether small or big, in one Figma file - it becomes a real pain-point if the lowest level of grant permissions it’s the file itself instead of the pages within the file.

I’m sure a lot in this community can agree with me that many times you gave people access - it was relevant to certain areas of the file, and less to other areas.

  • I want to give content writers access to a specific page where they can edit and review content.

  • I want to give developers access to a specific page where they can play with responsive layers and explore edge-cases.

  • I want to leave experiments (Some would call it a playground, sandbox 😃) and previous versions to myself, to avoid background noises from the rest

The current situation is that I give everyone viewers access, each one of them looking for his relevant place among the information load and I avoid giving an editor access to prevent touching what they should not touch by mistake 🙄

What do you think about it?

Of course, feel free to vote if you agree with the idea.

Still a problem for us. PM, PO and Dev are struggling to find certain screens/frames within our Pages. Our pages tend have 30-50 frames, and we often need to share a select number of those frames (not always in order on the Page) to other team members. At the moment we’re having to share individual links to individual frames to ensure the team are looking at the right frames.

It’s honestly weird for me that a tool like figma, which is based around the concept of sharing and easing team work flows would not include such a basic feature. Its less a feature at this point and more a neccessity. I hate it when clients can just hop in any time to see the progress we’ve made and some of them are salty about the progress for they do not understand that some things take longer than others. Ugh. its super frustrating. I hope it’s something an add on can fix. If it is something that can be fixed with a plugin, I’ll make it and update everyone here

Unique links to pages would be a real game changer!

Hope this gets implemented soon, as our current solution is to create a new Figma document just for client review.

I’m also looking for a way to allow a client to view and comment on artwork in Figma, without being able to see any other pages or content.

I was thinking of creating a simple prototype page within the file - containing either individual frames (so, separate flows which would be selectable via the proto’s left-hand UI panel) or grouping multiple artwork frames within one container to see everything at once.

I figured the ‘original’ artwork could be turned into a component; an instance of which would be placed within the proto page. If you wanted to keep the design synced, leave it as an instance; otherwise, detach it. A protoype link with the “can view prototypes only” setting would be generated and shared as required. This process could be repeated for each design iteration using new pages (and, subsequently, new proto links).

Is this wrong? What am I missing? 🥺

(I love Figma - but even after 2 years of using it daily, I realise how little I actually understand it!! 🤣)

+1 - want to share my finalized work with the developers but not work in progress

exactly !

@D-Edge is it gonna happen?

@Lishay This was the problem I was facing everyday in my work when I want share the few pages only for Dev team or Scrum Master or for client review, I don’t know why Figma was Forgot this amazing feature. @ Figma Please add this ASAP.

Is there any update on when this feature will be added to Figma? Creating new files for every project for partner reviews creates a lot of clutter and adds confusion to file management system & sharing processes.

+1 on this one!

+100

we need this urgently, you are letting our clients access absolutely everything, references, wip, work processes, discards… working like this is chaos!

This would be so helpful! Being able to hide pages & Areas; only sharing what you want a client to actually see.

Right now I’m creating a duplicate with only what I want to share, but it gets tricky when I have to keep updating two different files

This view is too unintuitive for the client to realize there’s a vanishing pager at the bottom to click through the artboards. Also, I have variatio

Update on this @Figma_Support @Josh ? It’s such a basic feature…

Hey there. No specific update to share at the moment. We are however, always looking at and working on ways to improve our sharing experience, whether thats through branching, updates to the share modal, or something else. Please keep the feedback coming! 🙂

Within my company we would also like to have this feature included. I’d like to have the stakeholders the access to the latest iteration but not see old versions in the same project. We’ve had multiple occasions where my teammates started giving feedback on the wrong page.

Though not a perfect solution for your request, we can share ONLY prototypes with people instead of the whole file - https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040531773-Share-files-and-prototypes

This is SO needed!

I’m a designer at Costco. Our project teams are having difficulty seeing the latest version (or final version). We are having to do stuff like this to help the situation, but it’s not enough. We surveyed our devs and many of them have reported confusion around being able to clearly identify which is the final or latest design.

12-1-22 - v4 (Latest Design)

----------------------------/

↪️ 9-6-22 - v3 - revised headers

↪️ 8-6-22 - v2 - Added snackbar

↪️ 8-4-22 - Brainstorm session and notes

↪️ 7-4-22 - v1 (initial draft)

We need to be able to hide pages. Something more like this…

12-1-22 - v4 (Latest Design)

----------------------------/

↪️ 9-6-22 - v3 - revised headers

↪️ 8-6-22 - v2 - Added snackbar

↪️ 7-4-22 - v1 (initial draft)

1000% onboard. I’m at a huge company, and having the ability to set up components for auto updating decks. Brilliant functionality

+1 to this idea, would be really handy to set viewing permissions per layer

Many things to get better,

  1. Sharing single pages with unique links

  2. Sharing single frames with unique links

Each one of the above, you can decide if the viewer can edit / download each element / or only watch/interact with the link without editing.

This would be incredible! I came here to suggest the same thing. So needed for collaborating with various stakeholders but not having to duplicate files a thousand times.

Adding another vote to this feature. It would be great to combine all aspects of a project in one project broken up by pages, allowing both the client and creators the ability to provide feedback without there being crossover between the two

Yes, please. I came to request this exact thing.

I’m confused by the lack of an official response to this basic request.

Are yall merging with XD or something? Is that why this thread (which has been responded to every few days for the last year) is not being considered a priority? This is a basic workflow request.
