Hello 👋

First, I’m happy about the opportunity where I can make an impact on this amazing product.

My idea is pretty simple but can make a huge difference in the way we share files with stakeholders and colleagues. I suggest adding the ability to give different access (viewer/editor) for pages within a Figma file.

Because in most cases, we’re trying to include a whole project, feature, or function, whether small or big, in one Figma file - it becomes a real pain-point if the lowest level of grant permissions it’s the file itself instead of the pages within the file.

I’m sure a lot in this community can agree with me that many times you gave people access - it was relevant to certain areas of the file, and less to other areas.

  • I want to give content writers access to a specific page where they can edit and review content.

  • I want to give developers access to a specific page where they can play with responsive layers and explore edge-cases.

  • I want to leave experiments (Some would call it a playground, sandbox 😃) and previous versions to myself, to avoid background noises from the rest

The current situation is that I give everyone viewers access, each one of them looking for his relevant place among the information load and I avoid giving an editor access to prevent touching what they should not touch by mistake 🙄

What do you think about it?

Of course, feel free to vote if you agree with the idea.

+1 I would like to have this feature available so that I can hide pages with components that are not ready to be shared

It’s absolutely absurd that after 4 years this still hasn’t been solved. For a collaboration rich software, you guys truly have ignored the needs of users in this aspect for so long.

Add another option in the right click menu that says “Only show for editors”.

Done.

You’ve been thinking about this for 4 years? If so, thats crazy. If not, you are ignoring core features your user base needs.

+1… this will help workflow with clients and we will optimise number of project files

+1.. it will help me at my work because my CEO (not a designer) has suddenly decided that he want to create and edit designs and my design in figma. So i would love to hide some pages where he cannot destroy my layouts :)

Hi! This is a small work around, but not private, but makes it harder to find the page. If you go to https://emojipedia.org/tag-space - copy the tag space which is empty / invisible.

Create a new page and then it would be a bit harder to find as a page in figma. The page name will be invisble. you can then drag the new page to the bottom. which makes it a bit harder to find if you have many pages. i was inspired by itsgigantic (https://www.itsgigantic.com/insights/create-hidden-pages-in-figma-a-quick-trick-for-organizing-notes-and-archived-content), but the command they recommend only makes a separator in figma.

Amazing to see FigPal take priority over this. Decision-making is definitely on point.

Please add this feature. It is huge for an enterprise in-house situation. It is needed for anyone who collaborates when creating product, which is every Figma user.

+1 so many times I need to share designs with clients to review after our meeting and only want to share the page with the designs we showed off in the meeting

I can not believe Figma does not offer the ability to lock and hide some pages in a file from certain viewers. Certainly the only workaround can’t be to duplicate the file and delete the page from it before you share the duplicate with those viewers. It means you have 2 files that need to be kept in sync, and if you have to create multiple files for multiple types of viewers it is even more difficult to keep them all in sync. Please offer this very basic functionality.  Or if someone knows of another workaround please let us know.

This post has been around for 4 years, we'll probably get GTA 6 before this feature.

I was hoping we’d get this feature with the new release.

I work in a team where everything is very fast moving, so implementation can often start before design is fully completed. I NEED to be able to disambiguate which pages the devs should look at. It should be simply to share/hide specifica pages. We need this feature.

Can’t believe there is still no feature to share specific pages instead of the whole project

+1, this feature would resolve so many workflow issues in big sprawling projects. It’s messy and frustrating to have to create separate files just to have control over edit permissions, especially because linking styles and swatches across files is also buggy. Makes it hard to create and maintain a working design system.

4 years after it still is impossible

The Problem

The sales and management teams create client quotes and pitch decks for private and public listed companies which contain budgets and confidential or sensitive information. All staff - from managers to designers to developers - can access this material, which increases privacy and “leak” risks, as well as increases the risk of in-office bickering regarding budgets, potential clients and proposed timelines, all of which can damage internal and external opportunities and workplace culture.

There needs to be a better solution than creating new teams and effectively paying multiple times for the same tool simply to limit who has access to what while also needing to copy design systems across multiple teams which inherently leads to introducing changes that are not replicated across the design system elsewhere.

Proposed Solution

  1. Role based users in teams - owner, admin, manager, general, read owner
  2. Lock files based on role with default as general
  3. Lock entire projects based on role with default as general

Roles based users have existed across products for over 20 years, how is a multi-billion company like Figma unable to facilitate this feature? It’s been 4 years and there are 10 pages of comments and hundreds of thumbs up. For every person who’ve thumbs up or commented on this issue, there’s likely 10+ more who have the same problem and are silent. Please make an effort to address this issue.
