FigJam connectors in Figma

I think Figma wants to sell connectors only in the new product - Figjam. They want you to purchase it and will not make it available in existing Figma design files. You guys have found a workaround to add connectors in existing Figma design files by copying it from the jam file. I think they will now stop this function from working. This is not good. They should make it also available in design files and allow to change the thickness and colors

Sure, you can copy/paste them, but that creates another problem - it creates such a mess with other layers. If you put them into folder, then copy/pasting existing connector just connect the edge of that folder that groups them. This is must have! I mean, i understand business needs, and the need to sell FigJam, which is useful on it’s on right, but it has plethora of other useful things for which Users will be ready to pay.but you really need to make it a native thing sooner rather than later.

Figma, time to add this feature. I stopped using Adobe XD because they ignored the community. Please don’t tell me Figma is doing the same!

  1. FigJam connector works like a charm. It also works when it was copied to Figma file.

  2. But if I want to use the connector a lot in Figma. It’s not a good user experience with a lot of copy, paste and dragdrop.

3.Is it possible to add the connector as a Figma shape and give it a shortcut? It should be quite a nice feature.

Totally agree. It’s very useful for flows and annotations when handing off designs. It’ll be a huge time saver.
Considering it’s actually doable, just needed to be copied from Figjam, it’s not a technical constraint. Who’s the PM we need to talk to 😃

Garret_DePass

Just wanted to +1 the request that everyone else has had. A native, stable connector within Figma would be super useful.

For the time being, I’ve found that copying a connector from FigJam and pasting it into your design file allows you to use it as you might any other element in Figma (with the exception of putting it into a component). It’s a half step away from there being a “add a connector” button, but it means you don’t actually have to copy everything into FigJam, connect it up, and then paste it back. Just paste a connector, duplicate, move, attach it to the frames you want, and you’re good to go!

Yes please add this option to Figma as well. I also agree that having Figjam within Design files itself would be a massive plus. It almost feels like in app payments now. Why do I need to pay extra to use figjam 🥺

Bump for this, I tried to make a library symbol to contain an imported connector but it just kicks it out of the frame. Please add this highly requested feature.

Often have to use nodes and connectors to high fidelity designs in Figma to explain user flows to developers and stakeholders. There’re plugins that can add connectors like Autoflow, however FigJam’s native connectors seems to work best. It’s possible to copy/paste connector from FigJam to Figma but it is a bit quirky. It’d be great to be able to add it directly inside of Figma.

Xavier_Geerinck

+1 on this feature

In the meantime, you can copy them over from FigJam apparently, I have been using them in my Figma files for a while now (THEY ARE AMAZING! Can’t believe this feature is not there yet)

I should not be an easter egg you have to look around and find by luck. I t should be an officially supported tool to make it easier to find for everyone!

SO damn agreed. This is a thing that is 200% needed in Figma, regardless of whether FigJam exists or not

Benjamin_Byriel

WE NEED THIS FEATURE. Documenting state diagrams and screens in two different kinds of documents is really annoying, especially when you need to make changes.

Alwyn_Balingit

That is just a tedious workaround.

We need the connectors feature as a First Class feature in Figma, so that workflow will be more efficient.

I definitely support this idea.
At the moment some people use expensive commercial and sometimes bug-prone equivalents to do this when it should be native functionality.
I have a commercial FigJam account but this is useful outside of FigJam.

Another thing I would like to be available in Figma design rather than just FigJam is the PostIt notes. I know they’re not a super complicated component and I could create something equivalent in Figma, but it’s annoying that I can copy and paste them into a Figma design file from FigJam but then can’t make them a reusable as part of a library when I use them in literally almost all my design files!!

Koen_van_Niekerk

YES! much needed.

Please also make sure that these objects scale uniformly (including ARROWS & FONTS). This will allow me to scale back my flow diagram before exporting as a PDF (otherwise PDF is out of bounds)

Figma appears to have the same foundation as FigJam and you can copy/paste connectors created in FigJam into a Figma document, and after doing so you can reattach those connectors to existing components/frames you created in Figma, move them about and the connectors will adjust exactly as expected. You can even adjust the properties of the connector including line width, colour etc.

The essential support for this is there, so why not extend Figma to actually allow us to create the connectors directly within Figma instead of using the copy/paste hack?

This would be useful for a lot of cases, and as a UX designer this would be extremely useful for connecting my wireframes (but not for prototyping) and it would also be very helpful when creating my IA diagrams in the same document.

For a demo of connectors from FigJam working in Figma please see the video attached to my tweet here:

Yes +1! 👏 👏 👏

Margot_Gabel1

We’ve been using the copy/paste hack for a while now, but a option to create these connectors from Figma directly would be welcome!

Nikita33

Please please please bring sections and connected arrows (preferably hideable) to Figma Design. That would eliminate the need for Zeplin. Sections and arrows make creating flows and organising design files way easier and more straightforward.

Remus_Baltariu

You can copy and paste arrows from Figjam to Figma and they work without an issue. Didn’t try with section, however, it would be nice to have them inside Figma as well.

So I guess they will be live soon.

🎻 My heart breaks!

Yes, would also love to see proper connectors fully supported in Figma. I’d love to spend all my time FigJamming, but let’s be honest, I’m not using FigJam for handoff – and handoff is the most important place to visualise flows for devs, innit.

Aside from drawing connectors actually, visualising prototypes with toggle-able connectors might make more sense from a handoff point of view.

But I’d like the option to draw them too.

Thanks FigmaJamMaJamJamMa, Inc. devs, we love you!

Remember to FigVote for this feature up top, y’all!
