Hello there, I wonder if it’s possible not to redline the word “Hawai’i” when typing in Figma and using spell check, as it’s the correct way native Hawaiian spell and say it. 🙂 Thank you!
In XD and Sketch, when you Cmd + Click on an item, you go 1 level deeper incrementally. How do you do this in Figma? It works only in a group, and then goes back to the to level. How the heck do you select a group, that is covered by another group? An example below: how do you select the photo backdrop in here? Without doing it via the layers panel (which is very time consuming in huge files with many many layers…)

Hi, is there any way to enable auto renaming in text layer in Figma GUI? I know it can be done in TextNode via autoRename() in API But was wondering how to do it manually in Figma.
The color styles we create are ordered automatically by the creation date of the color style, not allowing us to reorder freely.
I cannot figure out why my active state isn’t working. I’ve set up three buttons, when clicked they should change to their active state, but they switch to the default state instead. Everything is set up very basic. I have a component for the tabs, where the default has a simple while hovering change to Hover interaction. And I have a component for the menu bar with variants for each active tab with a simple on click change to variant interaction. Am I doing anything wrong here? Prototype link

Sometimes I need to tweak an existing web design. In my Sketch days if I didn’t/couldn’t have a source file, I might take a screenshot and in Sketch they have this great tool where you can select a portion of an image and copy/paste it. Need to move this down 100px and add a line of copy? I can do it in 30 seconds in Sketch. In Figma, I know there’s the crop tool, but it seems to be this manual resize and then I need an uncropped copy too, etc. Is there some option in Figma I’m missing? A plug-in that could help? I’ve tried HTML to Figma but the pages I need to capture make the plug-in freeze up.
Hello all, i am new to Figma and hoped someone could help me with a question I have. I am currently mocking up an app and wondered if it was possible to have an overlay which sits on top of the frame but behind the fixed header i have set. At the moment on scroll it moves on top of the fixed header but I would like it to go behind it. Cheers for any help (OP - United Kingdom)
In this Figma Tutorial they use a string variable called “Cart Button Text” and a conditional interaction to change the state of the button “Add to cart”. So, when the # Amount available == 0 , the button change to the unavailable variant. I tried it and this whole thing can be achieved using a boolean variable instead of a string one. So, my question is. Why should I use a string variable instead of a boolean variable?. Is there any logical explanation to do this? Like, idk maybe thinking in the future I may have another variants or “states” of my button so I would not be able to do this interaction if I have a boolean? I hope my question is clear and I thank you in advance for your answers. 🙂
Well, I believed it was pretty simple to do another colour version of my prototype… but no 😢 I’ve all my layouts in a page, and they are components. I make all the links and declare all the behaviours for my prototype in another page with these components [I do this so my clients don’t see the other artboards evolutions] When I duplicate the page (so everything) to create a second UI colour version, I lose all the work done for the prototype! Why? And How to do it?
Would love a shortcut for copying text only, without the styling.
While working on a project, I was adding auto layout and realized that the padding is reversed. I was trying add padding to the right side, however it was changing the bottom padding. And when I added it to the top, it padded the right side. I just thought I would bring this to your attention.
Figma is great, in every aspect imaginable, but I have just a few suggestions, especially for prototyping, where I feel Figma falls short. Perhaps more in depth interactions with sound and custom interactions and animations, maybe even possibly a staggered animation capability, which I would LOVE. another thing could be you could set up smart animations to be on a curve or path, individually for each item concept for the path motion: I have no idea how that would work. but otherwise maybe a different mode or button where it brings up a timeline and you get to set up each interaction and when it happens from a timeline and/or graph editor, like where its the list of animations, e.g. move in, move out, push, slide in, slide out, smart animate, etc, there could be a “custom” option where you can make that exact interaction custom. thoughts? sorry if this is a bit incoherent.

There should be a refresh option, which will help refresh the file.
Hi, I want my plugin to perform an operation whenever a node is being resized. Is there an event that is triggered whenever a node is resized? If so, what handler should I use to catch that event?
Hi, my plugin is saving a list of node ids and their corresponding aspect ratios in my root node. I want the plugin data in my root node to be updated whenever a node is deleted. Are there any events that are triggered whenever a node is deleted? If so, what event handler should I use to handle that?

Hi there, I am new to development and I recently released a simple plugin for generating a defined set of pages in Figma. I am working on the next release of it by adding a feature to let the user create, read, update and delete the list of names for pages so that the plugin can generate their personalized set of pages when they select the list and run the plugin. The list they create and save will just be a string. From reading a lot of posts, the recommended API is figma.clientStorage which I’m having a hard time figuring out how to use it. Can this only be used in the code.ts file? I tried using this code in code.js but I’m getting the below error in the console: Promise {<rejected>: 'Failed to set client storage key "key": Error: Cannot access client storage without a plugin ID'} I am using the figsvelte plugin development boilerplate. My list of icons is becoming very large and I currently have it organized under one component with a variant called “Icon Name” for the name in addition to other properties (color, size, etc.). As I add new icons, I noticed that the list in the right panel for the “Icon Name” property is getting large and it’s out of order. It’s always being ordered by the order in which I added the new icon instead of how it’s placed. Any suggestions would be helpful to help organize this because I’m clearly not doing something right. Id like to animate a drawer coming in from the right hand side of the screen when you click a button. so far, all i can get it to do is fade in. any help wold be greatly appreciated. thanks
