I created icon component geometric-icon with two variants: Cube and Circle I created component Badge with this icon instance, also two variants: Cube and Circle I created Price token, that consist of Price text and Badge component Now, I’ve placed Price token into the Screen - all is good When I want to scale Price token all is good also But, when I want to swap my Badge… The Price token is breaks…((( How can I fix this?
This might be difficult to explain. I have a row of thumbnails with hover states and each with their own background image. Each thumbnail is then displayed in a carousel (component). The functionality is, Mouse Enter (over a specific thumbnail) and the hover state and background image appears; Mouse Leave and the thumbnail returns to it’s default state. This works well, however, when you move away from the component (Mouse Leave), all mouse enter/leave events previously activated, seems to playout. Example, all the actions are kept and rolls backwards as if playing through the history. Said it would be difficult to explain! I’ve uploaded a screen recording of the issue. Any advise/direction would be a great help. I’m not sure if this is a bug within Figma or using incorrect handlers.
Theres a ton of API’s im finding on creating variables, adding modes, etc. But I have a complicated workflow of: Importing a component (instance) Grabbing a local variable from a collection Targeting a layer and then applying that local variable to it Ive been trying to for hours use the boundVariableColor whatever method to accomplish this and keep either getting: copyColor.Type has to equal “SOLID” which it does, or “expected a node and got a string instead”. Am i missing something? Is this even possible?
I couldn’t edit my draft for “missing fonts”. Why i need replace PingFang SC to another font when i’m using MacBook? Sometimes the trouble was resolved a few minutes later.
Hello, been running into the same problem over the past few months. If using multiple instances of a component inside of another component, they’ll get confused with each other while in prototype mode, resulting in buggy behavior. I’ve had several people in my team come to me with the same problem. While I did find a fix (naming the components with unique names so they don’t get confused with each other) this feels like a bug that should be automatically handled by Figma. The first time I ran into this I think it took me almost an hour to figure out. File example Video of problem: A related thread, though the solution was the workaround, rather than Figma fixing the source of the problem
I’ve created a file and I am the owner, but another person with edit permission was able to permanently delete my file if they try to do it just a few seconds after deleting the file. If they take a few minutes to try to delete permanently, the option doesn’t show up anymore and only the owner is able to delete ir forever or restoring it — as it should be.
When there are 2 or more instances need updates, it will show the “Locate” icon to quickly go to the instances. But when there is only 1 instance, the button is gone. How can I find that instance in the file? In this case it should have been renamed I can not use Find to find it by layer name.
I am trying to import a very simple Figma UI: https://www.figma.com/file/QuWh3drqvNDIz82mrYGGAU/ActionButton?node-id=0%3A1&t=7ZZQHvhAB6ZkeoBH-1 I am getting the following error: Converting SVG files: Exception Converting SVG resources for component_1. How do I fix this?
Why tf Figma doesn’t still support new webm format? I got this animation right here: and the mf outputs with black bg: don’t tell me this is a feature, i’ve been waiting for the patch for an year and still it didn’t come up why didn’t find the optical topic, so i put it on an idea topic
I tried to do the new user tutorial to create a new file, but it’s very buggy. After the “create frame” step, I hit next, and the next step pops up on the screen for a half of a second on the right side of the screen, and then it goes back to the create frame step. If I hit X, the create frame step goes away for a second and then comes back. I can neither exit, nor complete the tutorial.
This has been frustrating me for a while now so I thought I’d finally get around to posting! When editing a Figma file, if I select a text element the text can jump up/down within it’s bounding box. The bounding box does not change height, it’s just how the text sits within it that changes. So if you have two artboards with the same header + heading/text for example and select those elements on one of the artboards, the text can move up. So moving between each the text won’t align. So you need to through everything and click so it all matches. Not ideal but everything is consistent again at least …until a few days later when the opposite happens and the text moves back down to how it was. I thought this was down to multiple users and maybe different versions of the same font file but last night I left something, no one else has been in the file but I’m clicking stuff and the text is moving around again. So can’t be down to the font file or another user. All the typography is setup and
This one has our team stumped, and I’m fairly sure it’s a bug. Our design system offers a card component whose backdrop is a rectangle set to position absolute, constraints set to scale/scale. The idea being that when you detach the component and drop content into the autolayout, the backdrop will scale and shrink accordingly. This has worked well through multiple rounds of testing, however it only works consistently if you either paste your card content into the autolayout or drag and drop it from the work area. If you try to drag and drop it from the assets manager, the constraints frequently fail and the backdrop no longer scales correctly. But not always! Has anyone run into a similar issue? And if so, were you able to fix it?
I want to save HTML snippets in component descriptions using a plugin. I have this working and the description saves correctly, but in the Figma UI all text after a closing html tag disappears, and when opening up the description editor in the UI it updates to remove all the text and replaces with empty lines. For example <h1> Cat </h1> Dog Appears as: I saw on the API docs where is a note about a bug with descriptions, but was not sure if this is related out not?
Using the Figma desktop app for Mac, I added a new team member to a Figma Team. They accepted the invite and they showed up in the list of team members. (Side note, the number listed in the Members button stayed at 8.) I clicked on their existing role (Admin) but there was no option to make them the Owner. I checked all the other team members and the Owner option was available for everyone else. I closed and restarted Figma and the number in the Members button went up from 8 to 9 and the new member could now be made an owner. That resolved my issue for now, but this seems like a bug that might be worth fixing.
After changing the font through the plugin API, it will not function properly when trying to adjust the font weight through the panel The target font has been loaded using figma.loadFontAsync Normal will be restored if the user changes the currently selected layer to reload the panel contents Error: Figma_app.min.js.br:7 “Assertion failure: result” in mutate (FGFontMutator.cpp)
Here’s a video of what’s happening: and a link to the design file: Figma – 4 Jan 24 Is there anything I can do to remedy this or is this a flat out bug?
Hi! I’m working on a plugin to import a typographic scale, and according to the docs, and the api, the font weight seems to be missing as a configurable property. TextStyle | Plugin API I think this is a bug mainly because it’s part of what’s manually configurable as a textStyle, so it makes no sense to me for this single and very important property to be missing in the API. This is not small as it makes it impossible for my plugin to achieve its purpose functionality, forcing the user to make manual corrections on the imported typographic scale. Some similar plugins like TokenStudio seem to be over this bug somehow.
Since about 2 weeks autolayouts are randomly broken in various customer projects and only update themselves if they are touched individually with a mouse click… This is a massive problem when you are talking about design systems on enterprise level with tens of thousands of them! Our developers can’t work with something like that! Please fix it!
Hi there, Can anyone explain to me when the fontFamilyPostScriptName property is null and when it holds a value? I have added the API response to two different nodes, one with the fontFamilyPostScriptName and one without. I am creating a simple dropdown that when an item is selected, it gets put on the top of the list in a variable called “ttselected”. I also want the dropdown to collapse after making a selection, but it does not let me do it. When I try creating the path, I notice that it sets it as “on drag” by default, and that “on click” is disabled" why?

Scrolling goes too much, too far and too… “wobbly” I’d say. M1 Mac, Monterey, didn’t update anything on my system since using prev. version Figma a month ago (which worked fine). The bug is present both in desktop app and in browser version.
Due to company policy, I can only log into my Figma using SSO, which is only accessible via Microsoft Edge browser. I haven’t been able to log in at all because the default browser that’s prompting the login is Safari and there seem to be no way to change it (I had already Edge as default browser) Current flow looks like this Click “Log in to Figma” Enter my email → automatically switch to SAML SSO Click “Log in” I get the error message saying “You can’t get there from here. You must use Microsoft Edge to access this resource” (see image attached) I click on “Launch in Edge” It redirects me to Figma app store page I click “Open” on the Figma app store page Back to step 1 I’ve been stuck in this loop and haven’t been able to find a solution yet. No issue with logging in on desktop, just the mobile iOS app. Device info: iPhone 15 Pro iOS 17.3 Any help would be appreciated!
New method figma.variables | Plugin API ignores spread value passed and always returns Effect.spread = 0
